Good Morning Reonauts. Easing into a peaceful (so far) saturday morning.
The Patina doors are beautiful...

Hey everyone I'm new and also kinda late to the Reo scene. I got a Reo about 4 months ago and it has changed my vaping experience so much for the better.

My grand LP and chalice III

Wow ! Starting with a Chalice III ! We were comparing Cartomizers when I started with a REO Mini. Glad to hear you found something that works for you, and stop by and say hello from time to time.

We have a new President in these United States. His Inaugural Address has already been described as the "Forgotten Man" Address. Then a bunch of nobodies took to the streets to start riots and fires. Political Commentator Juan Williams describes President Trump as "a counter-puncher". Don't know how well that will play out with a collection of fat, bloated bureaucrats on Capitol Hill, but it should make for good theater.
Then, everyone in Washington DC decided to go get drunk for three days. I really don't see where anything has changed....

Have a Safe and Blessed Day, and a Great Weekend :)

So essentially now that we have a Republican President and a Republican dominant legislative side, there is absolutely no reason in the world why things can't be done now and I "EXPECT" by the end of the year the budget will be balanced and we will be out of debt as a country!! They have no excuse to get it done now. If its not done by end of year, him becoming president was all for naught and a slap in the face to America... Republicans have been boasting for years now that if they were in charge it would happen quickly. Now is the time to put up or shut up!!!!!!!!
I swear, some people just don't understand what a Career Trucker calls "Humorous".
Now I need a place to hide......

President Trump just saved vaping
That thread is a powder keg just waiting to explode. Its truly amazing how many people are totally clueless, (fancier way to say stupid), as to what happened or will happen with the FDA!!

There is a difference between having a balanced budget and being debt free. There is a difference between deficit spending and debt. The budget was actually not only balanced, but there was a budget surplus in 1998, '99, '00, and '01. However, the surplus wasn't used to pay down the debt.

If the bank owes me money i have to worry; if i owe them money, they do.

This is my justification for deficit spending, but becoming debt-free does not seem to be such a pressing matter for the country as it is for me.

T

I don't believe the country will ever be debt free again. Debt is enshrined in law. One example: The Social Security fund is required by law to invest in Government securities, which incurs debt, but also results in interest. It's an ongoing cycle.
Could we ever be deficit free? Remotely possible. Debt free? Unlikely to impossible.
The last time the US Government was debt and deficit free, I believe Andrew Jackson was President. In those days, the Government consisted of little more than a President, a Congress, and a military.

First of all, a "Balanced Budget" means nothing. Squat. Nada.
I could, in twenty minutes or less, create a "balanced budget" for my household. But if Mamaw's car is in need of repair, or unexpected illness/ injury limits my income, so much for a budget.
Considerable natural disasters (Hurricane Katrina ?) and acts involving extensive Military Operations are just two ways the Congressional Budget gets tossed into the toilet.
First, somehow spending must be controlled. Not likely with every politician safeguarding their own little pet projects and/ or "dog ears".
Secondly, the National Trade Deficit has been nauseatingly skewed against our own country for several generations. This must also change.
The "Economy" is not numbers on a page. It is the Interaction of Commerce. When Money changes hands. As long as Businesses are investing, and Consumers are spending, the Economy is moving. Taxes and Regulations are the basic influences Government has on the Interaction of Commerce. (Our Government manufactures and produces nothing, the Private Sector does).
Some have complained that the Interaction of Commerce has slowed in recent years. This downturn is actually traceable to the last few years of the Clinton Era. Bush became bogged down with extensive military action, and Obama has set new records for Federal Regulations (I think we are over 9000 regulations now). These influences have limited our growth.
Cut spending (doubtful), make better Trade deals (Trump has experience here), allow more investment into small and large business (Republican Congress, maybe ?) and restore consumer confidence (Make America Great Again rhetoric is a start), and maybe - just maybe the USA will slowly start in another direction.
Just my opinions. worth what you paid for them.

Yea, and I just wanted to kick it up a little. Then Classy ...
err..
um...
Politely let me know about it.

Yep. His rhetoric has shot my consumer confidence straight through the roof.

Sending a Caped Crusader after a Thief is one thing.
Dumping a Caped Crusader into a den of over 500 professional thieves, liars, rapists and murderers is a lot different.
But, as I stated, it should make for good theater.

More like sending the most blatant conman I have ever seen into a den of over 500 thieves, liars, etc., but I agree with the theater.
