Don't have Acetone, but do have some Xylene. That should work...that is, if it gets under the magnet to the glue. Will give it a go.

Go slow and do multiple applications using a little at a time. Each pass will remove some.

You might actually like a NaRDA (not that I'm enabling, mind). The chamber, while larger diameter, is eaten up some by the air inflow channels. Also, there are some cool ultem caps that reduce the chamber further. The airflow, BTW, has a greater range than the O-16, too.

A single center coil is its speciality.

I'd love to have a NaRDA. I missed out on the opportunity when they first came out. I don't like buying clones; and I won't pay the ridiculous flipper prices people are asking for authentics.

The ChiNaRDA that Tom had is actually very good (I have both authentic and clone) - virtually indistinguishable from the original.

It's a marvelous atty for my use - twisted single center coil. Decent air (not a deep DL'er) and flavour for days. Added bonus - does not leak unless very aggressively oversquonked. Tons of aftermarket doodads, too (slam caps, ultem or delrin fixtures, etc.)

I've heard that the quality of the clone is good. It's just a personal thing with me. I avoid clones. I prefer buying authentics. Nothing against people who do buy clones. I just prefer not to.

Same, hence my order of a Hadaly. Needed a 3rd atty for my 3rd mod. No O-16s available except clones.

I keep looking on Vapinart every so often for the O-16 to be restocked. No such luck, so far. I'd like to get one more.

It is such a great atty. Perfect draw for me wide open. Flavorful as a rat carcass filled with cream cheese and whipped cream - and a dallop of caramel and roasted pecans.

I was too late. Not in applying this technique, but in the technique of not using my brain.

Don't let the acetone or xylene get on any paint.
Xylene won't hurt the Reo Grands (has been my experience anyway) because Rob BAKES the Paint on at high temperatures. This strengthens the paint. Now, if they were spray painted, then yeah... Xylene would wipe it right off. I do stress caution when using Xylene though. Don't leave it in contact with Paint on the Reo Grand or Door paint no more than 2 or 3 minutes per application. Wash with Dawn in warm water, and then re-apply for another 2 or 3 minutes if need be.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as the Magnet goes... I totally MESSED UP! One problem led to another. The Magnet popped out of the Reo Grand Door. I glued it back in BACKWARDS (magnets repelled one another). Thought I'd use a Micro Torch to HEAT it up briefly, and thought maybe it would come out. Well, the HEAT DE-MAGNATIZED the Magnet. Totally ruined it once I finally got it out.

Luckily, I had ordered some spare Magnets when ordering my Grands. Threw the old ones away that I ruined by heating up, and popped the New ones in. Make sure you follow Rob's little note that comes with the Magnets. :thumb:

Another easy solution: Rob mentioned one time that he doesn't even use magnets in his personal mods. He just puts a slight bend in the door, and friction holds it in place. Just have to be careful. Put the door on the edge of a table, and try to apply enough pressure to bend the door a little bit. Easy does it, and just keep trying it.

This is what I do. It works perfectly and you don't have to worry about the magnets. Doesn't take much of a bend at all. Go easy.....

I have cut a gripper thingy into strips - they are great for this !
Makes it soooo much easier to pull off caps !
I almost cannot grip at all with my fingers in the position required to do it tho. I just can't apply the pressure to grasp & pull at the same time. It's the pulling part that I can't do.

i'd replace magnets in preference to bending doors especially on a painted mod.

If it were such a great idea, they'd come already pre-bent with no magnets!

T
Yep. That's exactly what I chose to do. :thumb: It crossed my mind that bending the White door would leave a noticeable crease in it, so I focused more on getting the magnets out and replacing them. Had no choice because of the my stupid decision to put heat from a Micro Torch on them.

Um... so is that a DIY recipe or store bought?

I checked TFA and they only have about half of those flavours.
