I build and set up my Z coils exactly the same way Sloth does it. Leave a little extra wire, put a gradual hook in the legs and yank them into place. You don't have to be particularly gentle with them. As long as you have the mandrel in them, you can tug and pull.

^this is how I do it

This is key ^^^

They can be tricky at first (counter-intuitive, even), but oh man, what a vape in the right atty :thumb:

Just blew my first spring, I took the cap off the O-16 and when I put it back on I must have been pressing the button on my P-67. Next time I will use the slide to deactivate the button. Am I the first?
I dropped a spring with the O on my original Grand LP for no apparent reason. The spring was half compressed already so I chalked it up to that. All I did was rewick. This was a FT clone.

I bought my Cyclone from them also, looks like they still have top feeders in stock, and some of the accessories.

Hey Reoville...

I am nearing 3 months in a few days since quitting and it just seems to get easier with each passing day!! I played the benefit we were scheduled to play last weekend and found myself in amongst a whole gaggle of smokers and never even flinched at all. I did however make sure I stood a couple feet from anyone that was smoking as to not smell completely like a cigarette when I got home but to no avail, that was just impossible to do.

The girl we did the benefit for passed 3 days prior to it and was dearly missed by everyone that was there. She's in a better place right now and not in any pain anymore. As to any recordings of the gig, I don't have anything to share at the moment. The person that was filming it did it on a camcorder and downloaded it to DVD and I'm don't think I have the knowhow to get any of it off there to share here. I will try though. It seems like I, or any of the guys that played, can actually go anywhere in a 5 town radius that doesn't get hit up with how 6 guys that haven't played together for almost 3yrs together could sound that great and ask why we don't do it more often... If they only knew the inner turmoil that can happen within a band they would understand, but it has left a lasting impression for quite a few people and was for a great cause!! Enough about me sooooo....

The first thing I ever modded on my Reos was removing the firing button locking pin. It just always seemed that at some point through the day I somehow managed to lock the button and after a while it just got to be burdensome...

Part of the reason I sold my Woodvil was due to where the firing button was located. The device seemed to fire quite a bit when I didn't want it to and to be fair, most times were probably user error, but I just preferred the top firing position of the Grands. In 3yrs of owning a Reo I had never dropped a spring and always had a hard time understanding how others did!! Maybe it was just me. Don't know...

As most know at the time I quit vaping and sold off my 2 Grands, neither of them had any protection whatsoever... This was because I always had a routine when setting up an atty for one of them. Kind of like real life when remodeling or building something...measure twice and cut once is my motto!! It ensures nothing like dropped springs happen. I'd also go further in that switching to RxW took a lot of that out of the equation because I only built or rebuilt an atty for either device maybe twice a year for the last 2yrs after finding the O-16's for my Reo's...

Anyway, sorry to hear of all the dropped springs and I guess in some silly way its a good thing because it keeps Rob selling spare parts!!

To me, dropping a spring just means the device is doing what it's supposed to do - like a reserve chute when skydiving.

They used to say in professional photo shoots that the cheapest thing on the set was the film, so don't be afraid if you wasted some - just keep shooting. I think the cheapest thing in vaping a reo is the spring (compare to, say, a battery short with attendant damage), so just keep vaping and don't sweat a collapse or two.

Having said that, the two I dropped were a) my own fault (too long legs that touched caps), and b) thankfully unremarkable due to the spring doing its job.

Nice! On all fronts.

Please do link a vid if/when you get it sorted out

You've gotta be feeling pretty good right about now - you're a guitar pickin', non-smoking/vaping humanitarian. :thumb:

I gotta ask this stupid question, Where did your partner get those scissors? I have yet to find the perfect pair of scissors for me. I am looking for a scissor that cuts out on the tips as well as in the center, and as yet, I have not found a scissor that will do that.
