I would add to that list of what you are getting with the spare REO these two thoughts. Fisrst, you also have the new 510 already securely pressed into that second body in the event of a catastrophic occurrence. That is workmanship that I probably can't provide myself, try though I might. And, second, should your REO fall gently from your boat to the bottom of a lovely Kentucky lake, you have your spare and a well learned lesson in care.

Fair point (and reminder to myself to be cautious near lovely Kentucky lakes).

This was, of course, part of the rationale I had for getting the second one (never know when I could find myself reeling in a crappie in the bluegrass state, for instance). After that, however, I had to face facts. I just plain wanted them.

Regrets? Buyer's remorse? Pish posh, I say.

In the post-collapse future, I'm confident I'll be able to trade a grand for land and chickens. A whole lotta chickens (cue sloth picture).

Too bad CMD. I only take my Grand SL on the boat and always loop a lanyard through one of the slots to a button on my shirt. I never lost one in the lake but have come close. I wonder if my cocobolo woodville would float?

^this is how I do it

Awww @Rayonati Sloth! I just adore your kind and humble ways. I rarely take the time to watch videos but had the time today (upper respiratory stuff/allergies?) and gave this a look. Thank you for taking the time to do this and I always learn something. I typically run 28 SS (.6-.8 depending on juice) with cello. I'm thinking the next time I re-build, I'm gonna start with a longer piece and have more fun with the haircut process.

You are an adorable gift to Reoville

Howdy, everyone! Been reading a lot here, and now it's got me back in the mood to clean up and get some juice going again in my REOs.

ugghhh hope it's just that and not the flu though. This year's flu was a .... kicker!

I agree!!

I use cotton bacon, is there anything better to try? I'm looking to experiment with different wicking. Where can I order them?
There are a lot. Koh Gen Do, most get that on Amazon, or Nordstroms and Dermstore both have free shipping on it. Rayon, most get a huge box at Sally Beauty Supply. Make sure you get the 100% cotton one. Many love cotton bacon, Texas Tuff cotton you get on ebay. There is something called native wicks, not sure where you get that. Then there is RxW which is Ready x Wick. READYxWICK I'm sure there are some others, but those are the ones I can think of.

Vapors Choice Cotton is also fantastic stuff and superior to cotton bacon and native wick imo. I really like the RxW but hate the fact its $9/ft. I like to double or even triple the strands on themselves so it doesn't last as long if I am wrapping a buncha coils. Once its in a coil, it lasts much longer than cotton but with a buncha mods, it'd take a buncha feet to get them all wicked up. A puck of VCC wicks everything up and there's still 99.9% leftover for rewicking, as is required with any cotton wick. $9 per foot must be worth it because I keep buying the stuff but I will never have all the mods and atties wicked with it. I get VCC from Amazon here and ended up with 4 pucks. that should last well into the next decade!
