I hope you are not having to deal with any of the fires up there in Canada.

No fires in this neck of the woods... yet. The trouble is northeast of here for the time being.

That being said, we just went on "morning shift" - no power tools (outside) after noon - to go with the ban on campfires, barbeques, and outdoor welding (hmmm... exhibitionist welding is a thing??!). By the end of the week, we're expected to be in full shutdown - no power tools (especially chainsaws around here), excavators, or construction. If we don't get rain at some point, the parks will be closed for hiking.

Bear in mind this is an annual thing on this small, wooded, volunteer firefighter-full island. In the city, it's mostly just police ticketing people they see flicking cigarette butts out the car window (like we need yet another reason why vaping rocks more than smoking).

I have only caved to the cold once. Looked at the weather and it said the wind chill was -56 (actual temp -35). Bundled up and went to get to my car and head to the post office. Made it as far as stepping outside and closing the door behind me. Came right back inside. Screw that!

A thought crossed my mind. Wayne had an agreement from Rob to take off and build those Woodvils, but now the company has new owners and wonder if Wayne got a cease and desist from them as they are maybe going to make them again. Dunno, just a thought.

I've noticed quite a few out there.

I'm thinking it's related to the more recent regulated squonkers available. Prolly not the "boutique" mods made by folks in here, but rather the chinese brands getting in on the action.

Could be, I guess. I have some of those too. But I would never get rid of any of my mechanical squonkers as those will carry me through to the grave. I know my regulated squonkers are nice for awhile, but they will die. No question about it.

I think it's related to the recent glut of 3D printed mods. Why anyone would dump REOs in favor of 3D printed boxes, I have no idea. But there seems to be a collector mentality that has sprung up around them. The business model seems to be: Limit production. Sell only on Facebook 'closed' groups, for ridiculous prices; and bingo! Collector items.

I'm not so into 3D printed mods. I have 4 of the original gdeal ones that I had to build myself. They were alright. I am going to do some modifications to them though when I have the time. But these crazy 3D boxes they have now are outrageous! And the money they get for those is crazy. I like my metal too much.

i just don't see the craftsmanship in a 3d printed device. i can draw and print a mod like that and they are soulless especially compared to some of the one-off, hand made or at the very least hand finished mods i do prize.

It's not just that it's printed either - consider the trouble a guy like Turbocad takes over ensuring his ultem mods are heated and treated and clear - and that takes him weeks.

I agree. Full disclosure: I don't do all of my vaping on REOs. I spend a good deal of my time, when I'm home anyway, using my Pdib Pinches. I appreciate the craftsmanship, and the work that goes into each one. But the 3D boxes...I just don't see it.

My REOs won't be sold, but I like having a cheap device when going to the beach.
I'm not concerned about dropping the REO, more for feeling at ease when going for a swim, and not have to worry about theft. Just got a $14 device that will work fine for the few hours I'm there.

I love my REOs. The metals are my 'out and about' mods. They go golfing with be, or out on walks, etc. But I'm an old briar pipe smoker. So, when I'm sitting around home, in my den/office, relaxing, I like my Woodvils and Pinches. They rarely leave the house, other than maybe quick car errands.
