It's funny. I was never a pipe guy or even a zippo lighter guy. For 30 years I bought 1 pack of cigarettes at a time and used a bic lighter.

With vaping, though, I have to face facts and admit I'm a collector, pure and simple. While I use squonkers exclusively, I have at least one example from pretty much every squonk maker. Metals, woods, resins, printed, mech, and regulated - I generally try 'em all. They all have plusses and minuses, most all more of the former than the latter.

The whole "oooo... it's so exclusive" thing is unfortunate, nigh inexcusable for an easily replicated box, really. The guys in here (we prolly all know the ones) who put real effort into crafting a mod can sometimes get wait lists, but a) they plow through them as fast as they can, b) they do not require vouching or restricted membership (anyone can sign up and get one), and c) they don't (perhaps accidentally) foster any "look what I have that you don't" vibes amongst their fan bases.

The tension and FOMO surrounding some of these, as trunker put it, soulless boxes just makes me shake my head. The REO, OTOH, makes me nod my head.

I smoked chop chop Chop-chop (tobacco) - Wikipedia

But buy hand crafted mods to vape unflavoured

I was a huge Zippo guy for almost the entire time I smoked, but then I think I started before Bic lighters were in existence!!

As to the mass of 3D printed devices out there, I had a couple Peko's and though they weren't perfect, they worked great and I was the one to assemble them. With a little tinkering they could perform better. Moving on to todays Frankie knock-off's, and lets face it, almost any device we've seen in the past 5 yrs, 3D or not, has been a knock-off of some sort but at least the high end guys are putting solid silver contacts and quality 510's in them. All the Chinese rip offs have .... contacts and 510's in them and most replace them before even using them!!

The Reo helped me save money firstly as it was the last device I ever bought and they helped me get off nicotine and quit altogether and that was my goal when I started but until Reo, was never attainable!!

I do respectfully disagree with you on you're list of crafter's we have around here. Though most of the guys around here that make and sell their goods here put out awesome quality devices sometimes I feel they are over hyped just a little too much and just find myself skipping over some of the posted dribble as it really gets old and boring. I'm not trying to take away from someones creativity in no way but it just kinda gets old after a while. I have seen a few posts that have made me feel like someone's arm should have broke off a few times from patting oneself on the back when, (imo), was unwarranted and was very much with the, (as you put it), "look what I have that you don't" attitude!! I doubt that anyone else would ever agree with that, but thats ok though as that is what makes us all special in that we can all disagree to agree or vise versa!!

I am so grateful to Reo today as they are saving me money every day and I don't even vape anymore!!

I really like the woodvils and because they're so similar the P67's as well. Those get much more use nowadays than my grands. Both side fire and top fire works fine for me and is comfortable as hand placement is pretty similar for both but the difference for me was the problem arcing the positive pin on the battery with the grand. It doesn't happen on the side fires. The only gripe I have about the P67 was they never came out with a SL P67.

Because I stay around 1ohm I don't notice a discerable difference between the Grand and the P-67 when vaping. Basically I vape the P-67 when at home and the Grand on the road because I have a holster for it and it is a bit battered. I highly recommend the holster, wouldn't leave home without it.

Oh, I hear you.

Fans be fans, fo sho. Definitely living up to the formal term - fanatics - and the euphoria is palpable. The makers themselves share a lot (hey, they're proud) and that tends to fan the flames even more. I guess my comment was more about getting a mod being just a matter of time and money, not knowing someone or engaging in F5 wars, and that there isn't so much collector's humblebragging going on. Believe me, if you're picking up on it in here, certain FB groups would drive you up the wall.

BTW, we never did get a link to a vid of your last (reported) gig. Still waitin'...:headbang:

@Debadoo I hate the VA in Temple. I know, completely random, but I was scheduled down there for one of my appointments last month and was my first time visiting the hospital. I messed up and took I-35 to get to Temple...damn freeway construction, missed my exit and had to travel 4 more miles before I could turn around. Went down some random road and got hung up by a train that I swear was 5 miles long ~15 minutes later I cross the tracks and it puts me back out on the frontage road I was just on...all the bridges are still under construction and closed. Finally got on highway 90 and eventually found the hospital. Then I drive in and can't find patience parking so I end up parking 2 miles away from where I needed to be. Long story short I eventually make it to my appointment with like 2 minutes to spare and everything turned out fine after that. Never again!! Will I travel on I-35 thru Temple, I swear they've been working on that freeway for over a decade it seems like, is it ever going to get finished?

reoville was plenty fanatical too

i agree on simple acquisition. I considered a hellfire squonker, until i looked into the process

fb group requiring vouches, but even being a group member, there is further hurdles to be allowed to sign up for the list

i can partly understand. Pdibs list was 2 years, and he had something like a 60% drop out rate, so just getting organised for next batch was as much effort as making the mods

It took be about a 1 1/2 years to get my first Pdib Li'l Pinch. I had even forgotten about it, until Peter contacted me via PM that my name was up for the next batch, and he asked if I was still interested. My 2nd was a bit quicker, because someone else had dropped back, and Peter asked if I wanted the spot. My 3rd was offered to me by a previous owner, who had given up vaping. He had contacted Peter, privately, and asked if he knew of anyone who might be interested. So, Peter messaged me. Come to find out, that one had Peter's older style 510, which I wanted to convert to the newer, o ring style. Peter put the parts in the mail the same day I contacted him, and explained in detail how to do it; or I could have sent it in. With Peter's instruction, the conversion only took a few minutes.
But the weird thing is, I'm not a regular participant in the Pdib thread on this forum. I find it too confusing, and usually 'off topic'. Just lots of chatter. Every dealing I've had with Peter has been via private message, starting back in the Nuppin days.
I don't find Peter to be a 'slap his own back' type of guy. Just an awesome craftsman, and is quite humble about his work.

Yeah, Peter is an example of a guy with Rob-like customer service. I am also not a pdib regular, but I had a Nuppin' go AWOL (sent to Israel by USPS) and Peter was actually the one to tell me. With all the crazy that was the first Nup' run, here he was tracking shipping for me. His make-good for the inconvenience (the atty eventually found it's way to me) was beyond expectation.

I'm still waiting also. I'm guessing its still MIA because I don't do the bar scene anymore outside of the occasional gig, but I still have my high hopes it will surface at some point!!

I don't belong to any vaping groups or pages on FB anymore other than Reos Mods. It was eye opening how little was on my news feed after unliking all the fanatical BS... It was crazy...

It certainly was for a while!!

If its any consolation, I too "don't" find Peter, Corey, or Turbo to be a "slap they're own back" type of guys neither!!

I, too, don't follow Pdibs thread much, but have had dealings with him via PM. He is really great to work with, never pressures, and does everything he can to make a person happy. It took me a year and a half for my Pinch, and he's the one who got ahold of me and let me know. Him and Rob are definitely cut from the same cloth.

You're right, Corey is another humble, customer focused master of his craft.
