So Cal
:)Ordered a reuleaux dna 200 today from Vapenw that comes with 3 HE batteries, or 3 sammies if they ran out of LG's. It's going to be mated to either my Arctic, or Phantom until my Arctic V8 comes in. Really excited about it, especially the USB charging. Now to learn the software before it comes. :)
Question though on the whole ribbon fire button thingy. If the fire button should do something from the cable, and Wismec wont repair, or replace it, can any pin matched cable be used to replace it? Not sure if Vapenw had any of the newer revisions. *shrug* just have to see. I like the look of it, and like the settings customizing, priciest mod i've had since the EVIC supreme, which is sadly far long since beyond obsolete.

I contacted Wismec about the ribbon cable situation (and warranty) and go a reply yesterday:

Hello *****,

Thank you for contacting us. I'm so sorry for my late response.
The warranty period is 90 days from purchase date.
And the problem of the screen ribbon you mentioned only once existed in our early examples.
We have already made improvements when we officially released the product on our website.
Please be rest assured for use.

Contact Evolv. They have a one year warranty for their boards. And if they fail you, you could always buy a large screen DNA40 mod for cheap & jack the screen off that.

The fix they instituted was to lower the window slightly on future runs and use all the mis-manufacturered cover plates in the production of the RX200. The ribbon no longer was directly between the fire button and the onboard switch but the ribbon still moved when the fire button was pressed and the fear was that this repeated contact would eventually degrade the ribbon.

Mine was order black Friday and 3 received business days later. It had the ribbon contact issue. Took 5 minutes to pull the 4 screws & cover-plate and tuck the ribbon down with a toothpick. Not a big deal at all and well worth the time & effort to correct it.

Seems the Wismec provided mod resistance of .003 is way off on my device. I don't have a copper screw but ran the atomizer analyzer with a brass screw and a silver plated screw. .036 with brass and .026 with silver. Set the mod resistance to .022 as the water test and the cotton burn test seemed to indicate that that's what's correct. My Bellus now behaves how I expect it to. Seems high though, right, which might mean bad wiring? What have you guys set your mod resistance to and what were the results from the atomizer analyzer?

I haven't checked it myself but djlsbvapes suggests .0016 on his web site with his testing. I do want to get the right number myself so I will probably be testing soon if I can get the right screw.

That's weird, it's even lower than the official Wismec number. I got the most stable reading by shorting the 510 with a copper pin from a mech mod. Got 0.012 and set the mod resistance to 0.0095. I'd love to hear what number you get if you test yours.

Got my RL dna-200 in, the fire button feels clicky with no sponginess. Not sure if i want to open it up though. Any signs via operation that it has the ribbongate issue?
unfortunately no, you have to remove the face plate for a visual inspection. i wouldn't worry about it. if you're not fimiliar with electronics you could very well turn your working relo into a non working one or i should say, one that would be in permanent stealth mode. i did the fix on mine just to be sure, but honestly the edge of the button was barely making contact with the ribbon. i have no proof that slight contact with it would damage the cable. i do know that if the ribbon is actually being "pinched, squashed" that'll break ribbon, for sure. this is not happening with the relo.

My Black Friday unit felt the same. As with Atmizr Opin I did the fix because the fire button was moving my ribbon down a few mm on each press of the button, but was not pinching it between the fire button and the onboard fire switch.

I believe that repeated contact and movement of the ribbon over an extended period will wear through the surface of the ribbon coating and short the screen eventually.

So Cal
Ic ic after the warrenty expires i might be a bit more adventurous. Im semi good with ribbon cables given how many Xboxes, ps2's, laptops and tablets ive repaired. If its just moving the whole cable up and down a little bit it shouldnt be a problem, if a cheap chinese ribbon cable can survive the abuse laptop floppy drive servos put them through, moving up and down a few mm's shouldnt hurt it. So far i like it, i havnt hooked it up to the software yet, plus i found out that the arctic coil can take a short 200w blast and survive. I lol oopsed and accidently fired it before setting the wattage down, sounded like a angry cobra.

Hooked it up to escribe, pretty neat, overwealming options. Reset the battery to the triple 2500 mah. I like the ability to set the watts in temp mode, and how it keeps firing at temp limit, vs the xcubeII that watts are variable automatically, and it cuts out at temp limit.
I did notice vs the model wismec shows that the screen is lower on the body on mine, program date Nov.13.

How long were people going with the ribbon cable under the button before the screen went out because the button chewed through the cable?

I have a little less than a month of heavy daily use on my Reuleaux and the screen (and ribbon) is still going strong and I got mine just after Christmas.
Had mine since Thanksgiving. No problems at all.

i haven't read or heard of one confirmed case where this has happened. it might be too early or just plain won't happen.

Yeah, I just didn't feel comfortable ripping into my mod. I'm a lot more comfortable ripping into a company, should something go wrong.
