... snip ....

I collect vintage razors. You would not believe what some of them are worth. Then you get straight razors, even more insane. Just because YOU wouldn't pay a certain price doesn't mean someone else won't.

Price is where demand and supply meet. If there's a buyer at that price for every available item, then that's what it is worth.

I collect Swatch Watches .... most are plastic ... you should see what some of THOSE are worth.

I believe it, when swatches were hot in the late 80's I wouldn't be without one. They were just such fun designs.

Now guys have to wear watches with dials the size of manhole covers. Boo!

$500, $600 or even $1,200... there's no way I would sell mine right now...

One of my main passions in life is fine wine, and this is a scene that is also wrecked by "flippers"... There is a slight difference, but it's not much really... People who buy wine as a blue chip commodity and have no intention of ever drinking it - they effectively force the prices/values of the best wines to go stratospheric, which in turn means that so many regular people who would like to actually drink these wines simply cannot afford them, while the "flippers" sit back and make crazy profits from it all... Personally speaking, I find that both disgusting & heart breaking...

This echoes my sentiments exactly. For me, vaping is a lifestyle first and a hobby second. Vaping has impacted my life greatly, so greatly in fact that I cannot go into detail here. And to see people that probably don't even vape, by these "life saving" devices simply to resell them for profit deeply saddens me. :(

But all in all, to each their own and I'm just happy to own a Shockwave.

I agree!

I'm happy with where I am at, I have a very small collection at this point, but they are what I would consider to be the finest pieces of vaping equipment out there at the moment. I won't say that I feel lucky, because it took countless hours of research, many months of waiting, and many trials of inferior devices.

People having Kick problems .... I figured something out after driving home almost 3 hours WITHOUT being able to vape.

I put an o-ring around the bottom of the Kick, and jammed it into the Kick sleeve.
It prevents the Kick from tilting, and keeps the contacts secure.
It seems to be fine now .... once I am home of course.
Hey Blu, is this still working for you? I'm kind of getting tired of having to reset it various ways and I'm gonna try it maybe. I made one attempt but it was so tight it wasn't going in very easily and I don't wanna jam it. I've got various o-rings from carto tanks and drip tips (black ones) and some from my Amps that are clear. What kind and size did you use? No need to search high and low for the size number, just could you approximate the diameter? Maybe I'll have to find a small one and STREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETCH it out so it is not too tight in there.

Most importantly, do you find this is still working to keep it firing MOST of the time? Cheers!

siouxsie - still going strong, 100% success ....

I think I grabbed an o-ring from a Trap Tank. I put it around the bottom 1/2 of the Kick, put it all in the Kick shield thing from the bottom, and used tweezers to tuck it all up in there, making the bottom of the Kick flush.
The o-ring made it a pretty tight fit, the Kick isn't going anywhere.
When I change batts, the Kick unit comes out all as one, Kick doesn't move or anything. :toast:
I think anything around 1/2" would work ....

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're getting at. My point is that if someone sells their Shockwave on ECF for $500-$600, they should expect to see their old Shockwave for sale on an auction site for even more. If someone is willing to sell for over RRP at $500 or $600, why not skip the middle man and go straight to the auction site themselves.

Absolutely correct. What really annoys me most is that this whole community is founded on quitting smoking and through the years people have made the mouse trap sexier and sleeker which is great for those in the market. Then the idiots come along who buy these devices (largely produced in small quantities because its a hobby/ 2nd job) that are not "necessary", but still affordable and still fairly justifiable and double the price. This means that even though I can afford thousands of caravelas per say, I can't buy one TO KEEP because they are purchased for reselling. It's very frustrating because 1. I'd like to buy one for personal use, and 2. I'm not going to be the fool who pays $1,000 for one. It's not worth it at all. A shock wave or any PV for that matter unless made of gold.

It's a negative to the vaping world, but as long as there are fools who want it bad enough there will be vultures on the pre-order lists to re-sell them at a premium. With all of the other non sense and politics this is from with-in and definately negative.

It does mean a lot to me personally that guys like David and even Imeo are not looking to sell to the highest bidder, but want to create a better business strategy that promotes volume and long term growth. I wish the very best to David, and hopefully he does as well or better than his Greek counter parts. Caravela on the other hand, well I'm sure Pedro is a nice guy but his business model sucks IMHO. Make as many as you can sell and be happy that you are aiding a community to keep off smoking and have great looking devices to bring others in to vaping by curiosity and intrigue. Rant over lol.

Hope you feel better now that your rant is over. It must be frustrating to be so rich to afford thousands of Caravelas and Shockwaves and not be able to purchase ones due to profiteers and capitalists.

I know I must never sell mine, it means too much to me. However, if I am ever destitute enough, I reserve the right to sell it for a bajillion dollars should someone be willing to pay that and I would feel not one iota bad about it.

I am enjoying my Shockwave thank you very much! The Kick with it, is effing annoying though and I'm going to try the Blu o-ring trick...I've had it like River also.
