Rachel that was a very enlightening post, thank you for taking the time to write that up.
Granted my knowledge of government regulations and how the ECITA came to be is el zilcho, I'm curious as to why you feel that the average vaper can not contribute or be involved in trying to make a difference. Granted the situation is very different with the CRTC and the big conglomerates, but the general idea of the big telecoms trying to force something down our
throats with the backing of the CRTC does conjure up some similarities. Look at how OpenMedia.ca rallied the "tropps" for donations, to sign a petition and to write to their MPs which eventually led the CRTC to review its decision.
Taken from their website:
"OpenMedia.ca operates as a network of member organizations and people who have come together to advance fundamental democratic principles that we feel should guide media, telecommunication and cultural policy making in Canada."
Just like OpenMedia needed funds and support from Canadian citizens to fight the CRTC, a would-be Canadian version of the ECITA would surely benefit from the same kind of structure and financial and citizen support.
Anyway, just speaking my mind here
it's stuff that the average vaper can't contribute to, or be involved with. It's the industry that has to do these things.
