When I was 29, tried blue cigs, was successful for a couple weeks, then it went into a drawer. Decided a month ago at 31 that is was time to quit so took it out of the drawer and was again not fulfilled, so bought an ego and started DIY liquids and now I'm completely happy. Went to dinner with my dad a few weeks ago and he was interested in quitting smoking too, so I suggested he try vaping. He's been analog free for over a week so far, hope he sticks with it.

I think ecigs definitely easily cross generations and don't age discriminate.

I dont know if thats against the rules or if someone has already mentioned it..
But poll should of also had the "under 18" category

Just tying' to keep it legal!

In the US, you must be over 18 to purchase electronic cigarettes. I don't actually know what the laws are elsewhere, though.

There should be an option for anyone under 18. It's the anti e-cig brigade who think e-cigs are being targeted to children!

Show them a poll that shows otherwise and they might have to change their tune.

But I also agree that the numbers so far are too low to really show anything.

I think CASAA.org has more accurate info on what age brackets are using e-cigs. It's mostly people over 40.

At least in my experience, when I was under 30 I was bulletproof and immortal. During my 30's the transition took place, and by 40, I was feeling more and more 'mortal' every day it seemed.

Maybe not so uncommon - looking at these numbers. I guess it's kind of what I expected to see. Like a few people have said - it takes a while for the effects of smoking to really become apparent.

I started at 26 but only because I was given one as a christmas gift by my 47 year old mother who started using them. But since my daily runs and feelings in general have improved I've spread them like wildfire through the ranks of my age bracket...You should see how deserted the smoking areas are in my company's area of operations :)

I agree. The concept of "long term health effects" didn't really worry me back when I started smoking. I told myself that I'd quit when I was 30. And I did, and I took up running, and I hated not smoking so I started again. Then 40 rolled around and there I was, still smoking. I'm 43 now and I feel so lucky that I found vaping because this is great - I feel happy with it and don't feel the least bit deprived about not smoking.

In the summer of 2007 at the age of 40 I was diagnosed with cancer. I kept smoking through kimo and radiation and my parents pleaded for me to quit smoking. I felt terrible for smoking while my family and doctors were doing all they could to help me. A year later I decided to do something besides chew to aid me in quitting. I was in remission when I purchased two 401 kits at a bar one night. I backed off to half a pack a day and vaped constantly. A year later the cancer came back and I was able to keep vaping and drop the analogs except two or three per month. I realize now that I quit only for myself and the biproduct was my folks were happy and I didnt feel like I was sabatoging my doctors efforts. E-cigs are right up my alley as Ive always liked to tinker with electronics. I make box mods for family and friends and tinker with my mods often. Thanks ECF and the great community!!!

I'm turing on as many smokers to vaping as I can.
