OK....got em screwed in tight, and realized that it's the flat-top battery that's weird. I have to push the button down HARD to make contact. Maybe it'll loosen over time. Otherwise, it works great and the batts are back in the charger.

I can't say I got the squeezing thing down, but it'll probably become second nature after a bit.

The edges on the bottom part of the chassis seem a little to pronounced, anybody break the edges (with 600G sandpaper) for comfort?

PS: Will regular 510 atties feed with this device?

I ended up picking up battery spacers for mine from Radioshack, there are little tiny Magnets, problem solved ;)

2 of us who use i06, had to twist the atty on tighter than what felt right. (experience shows that overtightening will often depress the center pin (cylinder) of an atty and render it fail (you can pull it out with a paper clip hook), but i twisted a bit more as i suspected it just wasn't going down far enough to make contact. We were right. I think it was either the rubber o ring or the cap from the i06 that i used as a d/t, catching in the collector edge of the connector.

I always am conservative when squeezing... hate over feeding attys.

Regular 510s will work of course. It's in the description on the site when you buy it.

My query is, has anyone found an alternate adapter for a 901 atty that works without modifying anything, on the XL.?

I have not heard anyone mention anything, uke, but Tat did promise to send each and every one of us one of his modded 901 adapters, right Tat? ;)

I know *I* would love one.

Today's vapemail toys included a new 5v batt and the new dual charger. I must say I'm a stickler for things that work (aren't we all). The dual charger is heaven-sent as it actually has a green light that alerts you when the batts are charged! WooHoo! Second guessing with the single charger was not my style. I really like knowing when my batts are "cooked".

I also received an AW IMR 18650 (my first, and you know... you never forget your first). AWESOME. Same juice, same Silo but what a different hit with it. Loving it.

Hey guys. I was going to read this whole thread but only got to page 22... Gotta go to sleep. I have the money and want to buy the VmodXL. I have some questions and only know basics about mods. I used an ego with LR atty for awhile and that was pretty much it...

Which batteries/chargers and atty/cartos combos are you currently using with the vmodxl? I'm probably going to go with 5v like katdarling above but would love to get some feedback.

I found it very odd that vapage.com doesn't have the charger for their 18650 3.7v batts btw. Which one would be the best for those batteries? One with a charging indicator is a must for me.. I was surprised to see that not all chargers have them.

I've never vaped at 5v and no mods as I said before. I'm just really looking for the biggest rips I could get off the vmodxl lol. Anyone else do that? If you guys have some tips since you've had them for a little bit, I really appreciate it! Thanks and I'll keep reading this thread in the morning so I get all caught up.

I'm surprised how long the AW IMR 18650 keeps cookin on the XL... they're designed to put out maximum voltage for LR attys, but usually discharge faster. I'm used to them on my VV pv's and they don't last me half a day. The XL w/ IMR is easily at least a day for me lately.
What do you think of the 5v batt Kat? what atty do you use it with?
I had given up on mechanical 3.7 pv's, but the XL has proven me wrong.
I think is has more to do with knowing how to match resistance to voltage and using my Provari for a year has taught me a lot about that.

I"d consider coughing up some bucks for a Tat dap't 901 adapter... now you've got me thinking about it again Kat.

I found it very odd that vapage.com doesn't have the charger for their 18650 3.7v batts btw. Which one would be the best for those batteries? One with a charging indicator is a must for me.. I was surprised to see that not all chargers have them.

I use a Pila 4 stage charger; it's safe, fast, great.
I also use a TrustFire TR 003P4; 4 channels and safe too. takes a wide range of batts.

re; the 5v, i'd be sure i liked 5v vaping; again, it's all about matching resistance.

The lower range of LR's (hotter) are great with the 3.7 batts; especially the AW IMR 18650. 1.5 Ohms has been too hot for me in the past, but a good atty like the Iken i06 is a winner. You can go from 1.5 to 1.8 to 2.0 Ohms for LR.
IMO the low ranges (1.5) will give you more consistent vaping on a 3.7, just because it's not regulated VV power, and drops as it discharges.
ymmv.

Tried vmodxl at 5v using 4.8 nimh battery + 2.8 ohm silo cart + caramel tocabo from (bluemistvaping) and i got a burnt taste. I heard u need like 3.0 ohm and up for 5v vaping , so imma order some and try again but at 3.7v vmod is awesome !

To be honest, I didn't even bother trying the adapter before drilling it, reason being is the 901 would HAVE to feed thru the bottom, as it has no side holes on connector(where atty's are fed thru on this mod) and the breather hole is to far up:)

I'm keeping a list there kat, daulin'....I'm off to madvapes to see what they got:)
