Well, I found an even better combo now, lol. Got fresh 3V batteries and a 3 ohm atty from Avid Vaper and am using it now with 6V. Closest feeling so far compared to 5V with a standard atty. Best combo yet! (Although with all the different things I am trying, who knows?)

I've got a pair of non-rechargable CR123's I bought in desperation a while back, been thinking of trying 6V at least until they're dead. Highest res atty I've got is 2.4 ohm, so it might be a bit over the top....

Dual coil cartos at 6v are fabulous!

Not something I could vape all day & still drive though...;)

If I could get the longevity of an 18650 at 6v, that's all I'd be using.. 6v with DCC's. I get tired of changing the 123A's 2 or 3 times a day.

No, I'm still not buying a Darwin!!

I'm using the 1.5ohm i06 on mine. I like the warm vapor. If you decide to part with the 1.8s I could take em off your hands. They shouldn't be too cool for me lol. Shoot me a PM if that's what you decide. :toast:

Thanks, Doug! good people here with a wide variety of tastes! ;-)

BTW, can someone explain to me how to jump to a specific post from the tags? Say that #774 post. All I get is a referral to the thread as a whole.

@Dusty_D "No, I'm still not buying a Darwin!!" ... a ProVari? ;-)

Ok, got my Vmod XL today along with my 5v batts from madvapes, some extra cartos and attys. First impressions were basically wow, this is a really great looking mod. Feels extremely comfortable and solid in the hands. Had a dilemma of what juice to load it up with, settled on Vapealicious STL GBC, and wow. I started off on a AW IMR 3.7 batt, and Im amazed at how well this hits. Using the silo carto for now, but it is truly impressive. I was leary of 3.7, as I vape at 5-6v usually, but man oh man, what a well built unit. I havent put it down to test the 5v batts yet, because Im that impressed with it. So glad I grabbed one up, and very very pleased with this right now.

Good stuff, but...........

You really should have used AG's Dream for the maiden voyage. ;)

I just can't get the atties to feed right. If I drip on them they are fine for a few hits, then they taste burned. I've tried just tipping the vmod to get it to feed, and I've tried giving it a gentle squeeze. Then it gets too much juice and starts to gurgle (but still tastes burned somehow). I don't understand how the 306's are supposed to get the juice in them. I've got a clear 306 drip tip on there, and I can't understand how the juice is supposed to get in, and it doesn't seem to be.

Anyway, cartos work well. I've got a Boge on there now and it's vaping fine and seems to be feeding okay. It's not blowing me away though. It is a standard resistance carto, so maybe LR would be better.

As far as the cartos go...SR is 3.0ohm?
The LR 2.0ohm would probably be much more satisfying.

The attys...well...there is a learning curve with those. The 306 can provide a very warm hit, which is why a lot of people love them. Finding the middle ground between dry hit and flooded can be a bit tricky. When I flood the 306 on my XL, I just set the mod down for a few minutes and it drains the excess juice back into the feed chamber, then I can vape it normally. When it starts to taste dry, a few sharp dry pulls (sucking without firing) brings that juice back into the atty and I get a few more vapes. It takes a little practice, but I'm not flooding it on the XL very often anymore, but I do occasionally. The best way to get a feel for a 306 atty (for someone who is new to them) is to drip into it. It'll give you an idea how much it holds and how fast it uses juice. I hope you don't give up, because once you get the hang of it, an atomizer gives better flavor, vapor, and throat hit than a carto will usually provide. :)

A.G. is right about attys they are my prefered method of vaping...

When you flood the XL, a few to sevral light sqeezes of the bottle with the XL upright seems to pull a good amount of flooded juices back in to the bottle, making it useable again.

As A.G. said a few dry pulls before you hit it will wet the atty.

IMO. You must prime the atty well to begin with. sometimes a burnt tasting atty will always taste burnt unless your almost at the point of flooding and will only give a limitted amount of clean pulls. (I usually switch attys in this case)

Not all attys are created equally, even from the same manufacturer.

510s IMO are easier to learn on.

Thanks to both of you. I appreciate your help.

I feel like I did try all of these things, but just can't get the hang of it.

I tried holding it upright and squeezing to remove most of the flooded juice.

When it started to taste burned I tried tipping it, then tipping it with a light squeeze. Still tasted burned. Tipping again with another light squeeze, still burned, but now gurgling. Tried blowing juice back into the bottle, but it seems to leak out through the holes in cone.

Tried the dry pulls, and that helps a bit, but goes back to tasting burned right away.

I think I primed it well. Put ~4 drops on and let it sit, then put a few more drops on till the bridge looked good and wet. It tasted good until (what I'm assuming) was the priming juice was used up, then the feeding problem starts. If I drip on it, it goes back to tasting good.

I bought 4 510 atties that I didn't even open because the 2 306's I tried = a big fail for me. I've got the 510s for sale now, but if nobody wants to buy them maybe I will try them out before I give up.
