I like the XL, but after a few hours of using the XL exclusively I am still lacking confidence with feeding it. How many good draws do you get with one tiltandpush? It gets harsh for me after just a couple of draws.
I have also found that it is not vaping at its max when held in a certain angle. To which I really can not think of an explanation.

I've been noticing that with the Vmod 2.0 -- swapped out the shipped Silo cartomizer thinking maybe I burned it out, but the 2nd one was definitely "primed" well before I used it. The carto is plenty soaked, but I only get two to three hits before the burnt taste happens.

The XL gives me no probs, although I did go through a couple of cartos in the initial replacement.

I feel like the Vmod 2.0 is perhaps even over-saturated, but using it when not super-soaked it gets that burnt carto taste. And this is a brand-new Silo carto that I was sure to prime with juice both manually and with the Vmod bottle squeeze.

I'm chalking this one up to user error or a seriously flawed quality control wherever Vapage gets their cartomizers from. At this rate I'm having a 50% success rate with them, if indeed it's not my fault.

I may need to go elsewhere for my cartos if this keeps up.

one of our forumsmember from germany has order an XL at 01/10/12
it was shipped on 02/02 and is sleeping since 03/02 into LOS ANGELES, CA 90009
that's not normal, can anyone help? or is the USPS Trackingsystem wrong?

Can't be sure but I've had it happen where carrier A hands over to carrier B and they only show progress on A's tracking system, so it seems to be going nowhere until the final delivery message from B makes it back into their update. If it's been handed to DB check on their site. Alles klaar, Herr Komissar?

I've taken so much flak for being "disloyal", but I've looked carefully at the Silos and BF atties with lights and magnifiers, and the problem is in assembly. Many Silos have the coil offset, so they burn the batting, and/or the coil has loose wire that glows and burns juice. I have not had a usable Silo yet, it's hard to see in there, and it's unrepairable. The atties often have the loose coil problem. You can try pushing the loose wire down. Yet the best atty I've ever had is a gold bottom Vapage Uni 2.2 Hybrid, so it's capable of excellent performance. I've made my peace with this, and think people should just return the defective ones. The Vmods are incredible, the cartos and atties still have a QA problem. Don't blame the Vmod, it's a Chinese factory problem Vapage has not yet solved; it's difficult.

The important thing is to LOOK: operate the Vmod with the cover and mouthpiece off. Learn how much squirsh pushes how much juice by looking down the barrel. An atty should get flooded, then the juice pulled back: that's the perfect vape. Look down the barrel and push the button: is any wire glowing orange? On cartos see if you're drowning it, the batting shouldn't be dark and swampy, but each carto has its preferences. Why would you expect it to "do itself"? Look!

If after all that you still can't get away from foul taste, don't suffer and poison yourself, put a different cooker on the VMod, it can use just about anything, and it deserves a good one.

Thanks for the info Fernand, glad it's not just me. I'm bummed as I invested in a pile of Silos to have on-hand. Not a fan of the atty, too much babysitting for me. I'm going to sort through this thread to see what works best with both the Vmod 2.0 & the XL.

My experience with Vapage Silo cartomizers is not healthy for the wallet or the lungs.

You can use anything you like on the XL......Madvapes has a pretty nice 306 for cheap, they work well too..Boges LR cartos are also nice. There are alot of options out there :)

so true.....I have found about a 25% of the attys i receive are sub-par.... I'm rebuilding them now for the Katana and have been getting better at building my own.....BUT I cannot take a Katana to the office:( I rely on the VMOD for out and about....... so hopefully the Vapage Hybrids remain mostly consistent.

A good atty can last and last, and feeding it becomes easy and second nature. But cartos are very nice. My favorites are the Boge 2.0 ohm and the "Resurrector" 1.7 ohm. Both are fantastic for a few days, then they start to clog and you pop on another. Prep one normally with enough liquid to be lightly juiced. Then the bottom feed will take over. It's a little tricky at first, they perform and last best when they're not overfed, but they're cheap and you'll get the hang of it.

TIP for atty users: when (if) you set your Vmod down, squirsh it a good one so the coil can soak. When you pick it up again, resquirsh and withdraw the excess. That clears some of the buildup on the coil. Makes a big difference. Yummmm.

Tip for hanging the XL, it hangs perfectly vertical. You loop the loop around the "neck" with the cover raised, and pull it through. Not as fashionista as Smilee's, but it does the job ;-)

Yeah, I think there are serious QC issues with the Silo cartos... at least the ones that are shipping with the VMod XL in the box.
My 2.2ohm Silo measured at 2.6ohm. Another poster in this thread (from Poland IIRC) said his 2.2ohm Silo measured 4.0ohm !

I ordered some 1.8ohm Silo's and some 1.5 AMG Bottom Feeder Hybrids from Vapage.com. I wish they had come with the unit to begin with, but we shall see how these work.

If they don't work well, I'm going to get a low resistance HH.357 Long Barrel and see how that works.

sometimes letting the bottle pulls back too much juice, I prefer to gently pump in a horizontal position

used this solution, but xl to me too much twist, so I made clothes

The second version has no bottom, so the shell is fixed in the outfit and pull out only the body with a battery and a bottle;)

Read my "Report" a few pages back, it's hard to make the HH.357 work easily because they have a sort of chamber under the coil, ideal for dripping, but the XL has its own chamber, so juice doesn't pull back easily, and it tends to stay flooded. Plain LR 510 atties, or debridged ones, work better. Each atty calls for specific "tricks". Like the wonderful IKV LR 510 atty, and the i06, can't get air through the center tube from the bottom well, only from the side pinholes, so you must remove the inner o-ring so they can pull air from above, there are draw issues, etc. The amazing thing is that "by hook or by crook" there's always a way, the XL is brilliant that way. And the HH.357 can be made to shine in its special way too.

I have had my XL for a bit....but I find it does not hit as hard as some of my other mods,.......so I did a test.

If others have meters, I would really like to see their findings.

Using----
- an AW 1600 batt
- a short 510/510 adapter
- voltmeter
- Boge LR atty (measured at 2.1 ohms)

...I tested the XL and then moved everything over to my Silver Bullet.....this is what I came up with.

XL - unloaded - 3.82 volts
- loaded - 3.41 volts

SB - unloaded - 3.82
- loaded - 3.70

It appears there is a fair amount of additional resistance in the mod itself....thus requiring the need for the lower 1.5 attys.

I love the way my HH.357 performs in my Vmod. There was a bit more of a learning curve compared to feeding the vapage hybrids. Once you learn how to feed it, the performance is excellent.

Good tip on the I06 and other attys. The I06 was like sucking a thick milkshake through a straw. I found that the smartvapes dripping 510 atty was impossible to use. There was no draw at all. I will have to give this a shot.

I would love to see more results on this. It seems, considering it is an all mechanical mod, that there should be less resistance.

Left Coast!
Anyone know how often there is stock on the extra bottles and o ring kits?

I can see my Vmods getting a ton of use and would like to have the needed replacements when the time comes.

they said it will be in stock by next week. I ordered 5 o-ring kits as soon as I saw them on their site. now I need those spare bottles with caps!
