What carto is everyone using with the XL? I am using Boge 2.0 and am just not getting a good TH at all.
The silo cart that came with it was pretty good, do I just need to order more of those? Thanks for any help

So far I've just been using the Silos at 2.2 ohm. Going to try the 1.8ohm next order.

Hmm.. I'm using a Boge 2.0 and getting a pretty good throat hit out of it, at least with the right juice - what are you using?

I'm expecting some shorty SS 1.5 DC cartos from Madvapes in my mailbox tomorrow. I hope these babies pump the vapor up a notch! I like the 1.5 i06 @ 3.7, but the flavors get too hot when the batteries are hot off the charger. The 2ohm cartos are OK, but don't get quite hot enough for my liking.

I'll be soooo friggin happy when the Kick is released. I will be on pins and needles as soon as I hit the "Confirm Order" button!

My only complaint with the Vmod XL is not, so much, with the mod, itself, but with the direct voltage change as the 18650 winds down from 4.2 to 3.7. At 3.7 the vapor is just barely tolerable and the draws are longer and more labored. Throw in a dirty atty/carto and the experience can be dissatisfying. Overall, I still love this mod. The components that make it complete lack consistency and that's where my dissatisfaction begins. The Vmod XL is still my all-day PV since arrival! I just make sure I have a few atties/cartos and an extra battery.

VMod XL w/ AW IMR 2000mah battery

I wasn't happy with the Silo 2.2ohm carto that came with the unit (measured at 2.6 ohm instead of 2.2) so I ordered a 2-pack of the 1.8ohm Silos. I got them today. I immediately verified that it was 1.8ohm and hurray ! it was !
Sadly, even though I was now running 7.60 watts, it's just not enough vapor/taste to compete with the experience I get with running 5.5v into a Boge 3.0 Carto. Very anemic.

I also got some 1.5ohm AMG Silos to see if I can improve the experience. (Same battery, same juice). Despite hitting 9 watts, it just isn't producing enough vapor and flavor for me. Still what I'd term anemic.

Now, perhaps quite oddly, my HH.357 510 2.0ohm Long Barrel (same battery, same juice) I'm getting what I'd call decent vapor/flavor on the unit. That an atomizer designed for general use outperforms an atomizer designed specifically for this mod is quite odd and and the fact that is HIGHER resistance than the 1.5ohm AMG atty but makes more vapor.. again... odd.

I know a lot of people LOVE this mod, but for me, it is being held back by the atty's / carto's Vapage is pairing it with.
I am looking forward to trying this with an Evolv Kick when they finally start shipping.

Vapage should seriously partner up with HHanna / Cisco to design a better atty for the VMod.

I have tried the Silo 2.2 and 1.8ohm along with the 2.0ohm hybrid. These were all underwhelming for my tastes.

I live my HH.357 1.5ohm on my vmod. I ordered a couple 1.5ohm hybrid attys to try out too. I also have various other Cisco brand 1.5ohm attys to try out.

I vape 6mg juice. For me it's 1.5ohm or nothing....

I have for you another interesting observation regarding the XL and the battery:

1) measured the XL into different soposoby and its resistance is close to 0;)
2) various batteries (depending on quality) behave differently under load (and not only in XL, in the normal VV values are comparable). The following table shows parameters of the best of my battery. In columns:

Battery / no-load voltage / voltage under load (2ohms) / percentage voltage drop:

Sony 2600 mah 4,06 3,74 7,88%
Sanyo 2600 mah 3,98 3,81 4,27%
HI - Max 2600 mah 4,15 3,92 5,54%
HI - Max 2600 mah 2 4,21 3,98 5,46%
UF 3000 mah 4,08 3,56 12,75%
UF 3000 mah 2 3,52 3,07 12,78%

Not saying I'm right here, but 1. you are comparing cartos with attys... 2. are you using IMR batt? which does put out more than a Li ion batt, for LR coils.

Yes. I even put at the top of my post that I'm using an AW IMR 2000mah batterh. :)

I think one can compare the "experience" between attys and cartos without it being an apples and oranges comparison. My subjective measurements of the comparison are vapor, throat hit and flavor/taste. Those measurements are valid regardless of the delivery method. Meaning, if I heated Boba's Bounty up on a portable stove out in the wilderness (some how making the vapor go through a 510 drip tip), I'd still be measuring vapor, throat hit and flavor/taste.

I've got the following coming to me in the mail from Avid Vaper that I'll be using on the VMod XL soon:

LR510 Low Resistance Atomizer 1.8 ohm (Cisco Spec)
HH.357 Cisco Spec Hybrid 510 Atomizer (Ohm Selection: 1.5ohm, Finish: Deep Red)
Kanger Horizontal Coil 510 Cartomizers 2.0 ohm (Stainless Steel)

I'm most looking forward to the HH.357 1.5ohm ! This should make the VMod XL a fog machine !

cool.

I have found the i06 to be superb on the XL. LR 1.5 too hot, but 1.8 is perfect for me. All criteria considered, imo "better" than what else i have tried; what came with XL a la carte, and a couple other. Once I got the 1.8 i06 on there I can't say I'd want any other, and I have in stock about 6 or 7 different kinds of attys, but not the HH357.

I'm not concerned about the Vapage attys/cartos much and have to say I haven't given them much of a test, but my focus has always been on the value of the XL itself, and for the price, the attys are just freebies... not a full rounded assessment i know, but what the hey.

I think you will be pleased with the hh 357 for couple of reasons 1. More flav 2. more vapor 3. the 357 hold more juice in it so less time feeding . It does spit when breaking it in I would sugest using a wide mouth drip tip like the one that comes with the vmod it stops the spiting

I'm fired up my first Hybrid atty at 1.5ohm today. I'm pretty impressed. I will compare it to a HH.357 at 1.5ohm.

Flavor: I like the HH better on flavor but the Hybrid is by no means bad.

Throat hit: The hybrid wins this round. Warner vapor and more throat hit.

Vapor: It's a push here. They both create great vapor.

Longevity: To be determined.... The HH has a reputation of holding up well. I'm honestly not sure about longevity of the Hybrids. I will call it a push for now.

Value: You can almost get 3 Hybrids for the price of 1 HH. Longevity will play a huge role in this one. It's a push for now.

At this point I give the HH.357 a slight edge because of the better flavor. My initial impression of the hybrid is very favorable though. Assuming the Hybrids hold up well, I will definitely be buying more in the future.
