Assuming internal resistance of switch and such are under control, and air flow is adequate, it seems to me the XL itself isn't so much of a factor in comparing standard atties/cartos on a standard 3.7v 18650. Maybe the fact the XL solves the feeding and battery issues so well frees us to concentrate on the "cooker".

The Hybrid Uni gold bottom atty I got with my first XL is marked 2.2, reads 2.4 ohms, and makes as much vapor as most 1.8s I have, though like a Boge 2 it's relatively mild. The same resistance/wattage can give vastly different results. That was discovered in connection with the use of stainless steel mesh as a wick. The weave of the mesh, the gauge and resistance of coil wire (hence the number of turns) and tightness of the coil e.g. all have a big impact on droplet size, with throat hit tied to smaller particles. The HH.357, for instance, has a very tight coil with many turns. Smaller particles penetrate deeper into the lungs, so it might not be as healthy. I also happen to agree with the reviewer that the .357 is harder to control on a bottom feeder. I sometimes wonder if the great taste of the .357 isn't related to the larger tongue-bound particles it also spits out;-) This is much more complicated than it seems.

Though we have a lot of choices on the market, a more consistent (and highly optimized) atomizer and carto would be a great addition to the XL. I think it's asking a lot, given how many irons Vapage has in the fire. Subcontracting to a specialty firm might indeed be an ideal solution for them. In the meantime, the search (and adventure) continue ...

Hey everyone!
It took many hours but I read this whole thread from start to finish. What entertainment, better than something on the Box. The no.1 star was obviously smilee. With his wisecracks of sleeping with one eye open to check the shipping status - 'processing' to even obscuring his smile with tears and many other awesome gems. I even shed a tear myself when his XL finally arrived. Oh and in Japan the P.O. Is also open 24 hrs every day of the year. Not every single branch, mind you - but one at least in each area. My vapemail is delivered up to 10PM in the evening and even on the weekend.

Anyway, I have the usual selection of PV's and Mods. I LOVE my VV Box Mod and my Provari, but now I want to try a good bottom feeder. It seems like there is (the possibility of) far less hassle of carrying extra supplies and constant topping up of cartos all day long? Well I'm interested in giving it a try anyway. I even have the charger and batteries (from my GoldRush mod which I hate and never use). I love the idea of throwing this mod in my pocket or bag and having no leaks or accidentally activation of the on switch and having the juice bottle built inside. YIPPEE! I'm also not too worried about the screaming branding as I will decorate the outer sleeve myself.

I think I'm going to give the VMod XL a try :). Are there any working discount codes available at this time?

Well, that's it guys :). Thanks for an awesome, informative and entertaining thread! (A close second to; 'Why do my farts...?' lol, only (half) kidding).

DragonBone, welcome! Code is VAPIN15 15% off. Your chances of loving it are in the > 90% range I'd say. You might notice that even the critical ones say it's their main PV. Make sure you have various standard cartos and atties on hand to try, preferably in the 1.8 to 2.0 ohm range. If you really like it ~hot~, maybe 1.5 ohm. The logo is pretty subtle on the silver background. The black XL looks smaller. One of each? Get a couple extra XL seal kits, the o-rings wear and get lost.

BTW, what is the vaping situation in Japan? I'd heard you couldn't get nicotine-containing juice. Is that accurate? Can it be shipped in OK?

Hi Fernand, thanks for the welcome :).

Yes, I like a hot vape - not searing hot though. Thanks for the tip. I will get some good cartos. I don't think I want to go back to atties though. I had more than enough of them since my mini ecig and 901 days. Yes, the black does look nicer and smaller to me too :). I'm happy about the availability of the extra o-rings now. I read all about the o-ring problems earlier in the thread.

I actually don't know too much about the vaping scene here and know no- one who vapes, except for a few Japanese that I myself converted. They use eGo's and stuff that I order for them from China.

Reason that I don't know what's really going on is because my Japanese reading skills are poor. I just order whatever I need from abroad, much easier! I did however buy my first mini ecigs from Japan, 401's and Super ecig. At that time, (3.5 - 4 years ago - can't remember
exactly when) nicotine juice was not available to buy online in Japan, ( only 0 nic juice) so I
started buying from the UK, USA and finally from China too. These days some vendors DO sell nic juice. Not sure what has changed. For eg. Totally Wicked has an online store here, so does eLips. When I saw that, i knew that somewhere some Japanese must also have found a loophole! So I went on to Rakuten (Japan's version of eBay) and found all the telltale DIY supplies.... a lot of searching later, I saw some juice for sale!!

I buy a LOT online. Books and whatnot from Amazon.com, lots of stuff from eBay, cosmetics etc. from Strawberry.net, health foods from Netrition, casual and gym wear from Victoria's Secret etc. etc. Then I have my hobbies... Plus my vaping... So not sure if I am lucky or if because I get SO much international mail and parcels ( I have been living here for 12 years now), ever week, year in and year out from all over the world. Could be that is why I have absolutely never had any problems at all, they all know me lol.... Maybe 1 out of every 50 parcels I receive, is opened at customs, then neatly closed again and delivered with a letter saying it has been checked.

However, I think that Japan customs are not greedy, ie. Trying to make a buck on import duties and other suspwct activities that go on in some countries. And are generally trusting. But I am pretty are they have sniffer dogs and X- ray machines the international mail arrivals. So, not fools either....

According to the information in this video:
The Kick at Nhaler.com - YouTube

It looks like we won't be able to run the Evolv Kick in the VMod XL. Evolv says it needs to have direct contact with the atomizer battery terminal (not a spring.. they specifically call that out) and the metal spring on the Kick needs to contact the side of the tube mod (I take it this is for part of the circuit though I'm not sure).

An enterprising soul might come up with a mod to the VMod XL to get around this, but for sure, (AFAIK) the out of the box VMod XL and the out of the box Evolv Kick will not be compatible.

I'm hoping the Vapage folks will come up with a solution for this...

Watching that video, it seems that they are talking about"never a device spring" in reference to negative contact(bottom spring) on mods. And as for the little side spring, well a simple piece of contact metal(available at Lowes) bent into shape inside XL so the negative wire running up it and metal piece touch, and you should be good to go:) Somebody around these parts posted they were beta testing one, now where did they go:confused:

I didn't even know they were stocking bottles for the XL??? I knew they had em for the mini's... Yeah everytime I check they're out of the rings. Kind of a bummer =(
Oh, maybe I was wrong. I thought that I read many posts back that they had become available. Anyway, not in the shop now, so I went ahead anyway and placed my order for a black VMod XL.
