Just soldered leads on to my first LiPo. Got to admit it made me nervous. Those big lugs for the bullet type connectors needed a lot of heat. Plus they used a hot glue gun somewhere in the process and it made everything a bit sticky once it melted. Was afraid the tabs would go flying off once the solder liquified.

Had to make my first repair to my "Weekender". Broke the USB connector off the PCB when the mod took a dive while charging.

Has anybody experimented with a ""light pipe" to show the USB charger status on the case of the mod?

Yep it works pretty good. I'm not sure what mamu uses but I think she typically does some kind of light pipe. Breaktru posted about using clear weed eater filament.

We use clear acrylic rod at work for light pipes and seems to work pretty good.

Good thing chargers are relatively cheap and typically fairly easily to swap out. I have recently became the inlaws tablet repair service, recently swapped out a screen on a nexus 7 and replaced the USB connector on a kindle fire. Let's just say I much prefer modding ecig stuff :D

hi bj
seems like a nice battery ...so ordered one
building a fiberglass battery case for two 18650 pt version now ...see if I like the separate battery from a small mod ...probably use it for that build later.

Great, I am making a box from thin RC plywood which I will fiberglass with thin glass cloth. I have a LM 2596 passthru I made a long time ago that has a lipo dock.:)

Just a little bit:

This is plexiglass tubing with the LED just below it with nicely polished ends. Pretty much the more opaque the material the more diffraction you get dispersing the light and it seems dimmer at the other end. Acrylic tubing can be very clear, and weed trimmer line nearly white. Mono-filiament fishing line can be had in very clear as well and can be quite thick. You can drill a hole in the case for whatever material you choose to be a snug friction fit, have a squared cut on the visible end, and have it match up with the LED on the board either on the end or even along the side of the light tube.

edit: Some things you might have handy to consider, an acrylic cocktail toothpick stem, or if the LED is close to the hole part of or the entire carto nail.

Have you ever looked at the balance of the lipo after discharged in one of these mods to see if the the lipo suffers from the same imbalance as round cells in a battery holder?

I only have one charger that has digital readout and I never really paid attention. All seem to have one cell that is always a little weaker and takes a little longer to charge, but not always the first cell. I will pay more attention in the future.:)

So the middle cell was lower, but not by a lot.

On Mamu's raptor she indicated "Metering the batts, the dominant batt read 2.75v and the other read 3.44v" so almost 0.75v.

Do you always use 3S with the LM?

Oh and you need one of these so you don't have to take video.....or wait :D

Yes always 3s or a 12v 5 amp source. You need 2 volts higher than the output...

Scavenged a light pipe out some old electronics. It works, the red LED works great, but the green is fairly faint, its a much dimmer LED. It will work until I figure out a better way.

Girlie Mod is well on its way.

Anyway know of some "pretty" applique or decals etc that would hold up to daily use?

Dang sexy there, Bap!

Vape Mail Today!!!

BTW the Chi You threads looks to be 21mm x 1.0.....if you had a chi you mod you could use the air adjustment ring as a nut. I didn't get the flat top cap because I didn't intend on using it as a tube mod, plus I would just make a hybrid adapter.
