Got a few FT orders today. Unbelievable, my first mechanical with a pinkie button, down right feminine if you ask me.

Anyway I got this Origin to kick and really can't figure out this switch. PITA to turn it off and if I stand it vertical it fires continually.

Very little or no spring in the switch.

On this subject I have recently received the following mech mods....
hcigar Chi You clone/FT Carevela clone/FT Origin clone/FT JM clone
And that is the order in which I rank them.
hcigar Chi You clone....I cant really find anything to fault mechanically. Esthetically about the only thing that bugs me is the slightly rounded edge on the male threaded end of the extension tubes. Switch spring seems to be about right and the lock is simple and easy. Being 23mm its a bit heavier than most mech mods, but that doesn't really bother me.
FT Carevela clone....The spring is a little weak, but after replacing the spring with a little stiffer spring the switch works flawlessly.
FT Origin clone....Like you said BJ the spring is week, there is also a little more side to side slop in the button then I would like. But in general I like some of the unique design elements of the switch. The lock could use much coarser threads IMO.
FT JM clone....It also has a very week spring. It is a simple design which is good. For some reason it just seems to be lower quality than the others.
In general they all seem to have more slop in the switches then I would like to see. They all have more switch travel than I think is necessary. Clone or authentic all these mods IMO share a design characteristic that I don't care for, and that is relying on a spring and/or contact to transfer the current. Also I prefer the progressive feel that magnets give a switch.
I will
mod the switches I can to use magnets, and all switches will be modded to add two 10amp tinny spring pins that ride on the button shaft to ensure reliable current transfer regardless of spring or button contact (pics below).
