You know, the more i think about it the less this sounds like a good idea to me. These LiPo bats can swell a little under normal use, and with age. Lets assume you could shave off that 1/2mm. If you have a zero clearance snug fit to begin with, and the cells swell, wheres that pressure going to go? The 2mm thick aluminum enclosure is not likely to give much.

At least, I dont think I would sandwich a bat in that tight in one of my own builds anyway!

Yes, I can see the confusion. I used the term "cell" interchangeably because I didnt know what else to call it.

The manufacturer is calling each of the blue hardcases a cell on the sticker. Really I would call them a "pack", but that could be out of ignorance.

The "Saddle Pack" consists of two "5700mAh 3.7v packs" designed to be hooked up in series to achieve 7.4v.

Each pack consists of three 1900mAh 3.7v cells hooked up in parallel.

When identical batteries are hooked in parallel the voltage stays the same but the current is additive.
When identical batteries are hooked in series the current stays the same but the voltage is additive.

We can use a single "3.7v pack" to supply a dna.

ahh, cool, thanks for that. yeah now it makes sense, I was really wracking my brain trying to figure that 2 cell 3 cell thing out. question though, since all 6 cells are pretty much matched, couldn't you use either less than 3, or even more than 3 cells together depending on space?

No reason why you cant, though it would involve re-soldering the tabs that connect the cells,
a task I have not tackled yet.

Not sure about the use of ABS Plastic for our builds. Not yet having all the parts to get started, was looking at the Hammond 1591xxlbk. It's 87mmx57mmx36mm inner dimensions. I think the single zippy lipo would fit with plenty of room to spare. Just an idea. Only comes in black and gray

What button are you using for the power switch? I was hoping to get one from Amazon, but many don't list the force/push power ("N" rating), I don't want anything too hard.

Actually yeah....I haven't used it for a week or so, I didn't have great luck with my just hemp thread build (but gdeal did???), but previously I had great luck with mesh vertical wicks to a hemp wick....see below.

I have a second GS tore apart that may eventually get modded into a pipe build.

I am waiting on some silicone wire to finish mine and still going thru all my screws, bolts, rivets to find something that will work as buttons for the on board switches.

I ordered some of that 3M CF vinyl today too, but not for a DNA mod. I won Zombie Provari a few months ago, I find it fugly. J-wraps and Vaporskins just don't fit right. Thanks again for the link on that.

Do you all find silicone wire necessary for making these? I have ordered some, but my order has disappeared from tracking, last seen a few weeks ago. I was wondering if I could get by with PC power supply wires (18 gauge), I have plenty of that.

I think it is more of a personal preference than anything else. Silicone wire has a high heat resistance, good chemical resistance, and is very flexible.

I am going to try this 20g "zip-wire", the red/black conductors will stay together like lamp cord. Its not silicone but I suspect it could contribute towards a neat build.

No, they do not respond very well to questions via email. I think it is because they are slammed trying to meet DNA30 demand. I will try by voice as I got better results that way.

That is what I have been using on all mine, but for tight fits I think the silicone is easier to mold into small spaces.

I got the Taifun GS working well with 8 strands of hemp twine and a 2mm 1.6ohm coil. The holes going into the tank in the GS are 2mm as well, so I just matched the coil size to the holes thinking that I would get the same compression on the hemp. I tried less and more hemp threads and it seemed that 8 was the best balance between wicking (getting air back to the tank) and leaking.

It vapes well, but not as good as the GT and looks completely silly on a full size tube mod.
