In my area, there are eastern timber rattlesnakes, which are considered threatened by NYS, so they cannot be killed. Luckily, I haven't seen any since they tend to live in more forested areas. I live about half an hour from West Point, and I recall reading once about a year or two ago one of the cadets got into huge trouble because he was out in the woods during training, came upon an eastern timber and killed it.

The scorpions that glow under black light are nearly completely harmless. The big black ones.

Agrarian sac spider
Brown recluse
Black widow

They're all present in my neck of the woods... and dangerous to varying degrees.

Spiders I look out for...
Agrarian sac spider

Never heard of that one so I googled it. I read that as of 1978 it was mostly in the northeastern US and Canada, but had likely spread quite a bit since then. I also read :

Even though brown recluse bites are quite rare these shy spiders are often blamed for bites. Experts believe sac spiders cause more bites than any other type of spider and their bites are often misdiagnosed as brown recluse spider bites.

I doubt these were in Texas in 1983, when I was diagnosed with 2 brown recluse bites, but I never saw the spider (in fact, I didn't even feel the bites! But I sure got sick and had 2 nasty wounds.)

Looks like the IPV3, let us know how it performs.

I seen they have an upgrade for the IPV4 that hopefully fixes the chattering temp control on it. The upgrade makes it a 120 watt mod with a selection for Ni200 wire or titanium wire. I downloaded it and going to try to upgrade both of mine tonight at work. Tried it on my laptop but one video I was watching said it needed Win 7 or 8. Linux didnt see the device and neither did my VIsta partition

I'm debating what to put a Nickel build into...Lemo 1 or Tugboat v2

A few years back had a spider bite me on my little toe. Foot swelled up to twice it size and people told me it must of been a brown recluse. If I could of found that spider I would of made sure it died a horrible death because that spider bit caused me a month later to get a staph infection...in the privates!!!
That staph infection caused me to spend 5 days in the hospital but that wasnt the bad part, the bad part was all these doctors with their herd of student doctors parading in my room wanting to see the staph infection and discuss it like I wasnt even there! Then to add insult to injury, I was walking in the hospital one day and was returning to my room and this adorable woman in a doctors white coat was at my door. She introduced her self and said she wanted to see my infection....jeez!

I had that problem earlier where the page wouldnt load, but I just went to it and it went with no problems.

Ordered some 26 ga and 28 ga titanium last night. Give them a try for TC. But sadly I am really really liking my IPV4's for dripping with my Mutation clone and Velocity RDA's. Maybe try a dual titanium coil build on one of them and see how this new firmware upgrade for the IPV4's works.
