Yes, I know that. And that is why I am trying to figure out how to get the reset prompt without firing the atty. if I screw that up I have to wait some time before I try again.

I'm doing coil building in baby steps. I have wire, but the couple of attempts at winding coils came out horrible. It didn't help that I was winding coils using soft nickel wire. So I've been using pre-wound coils from Fasttech. And I'm pretty sure that they are using tempered nickel, as their coils are much stiffer than the non-tempered wire I had used before.Maybe we should have mod womper coil building classes. I build my own. I would not take pictures and post my artistically beautiful build pics because they are not. But they do work and my mods do not blow up, or shut down in protest. And smoke comes out of my mouth when I vape them. So I consider my building successful![]()
If I follow your steps (similar to what I've done in the past, including rebooting the mod) I don't always get that prompt. It only asks that if the new coil is >5% difference in resistance from the old coil.... But I've had no issues with new coils even if it didn't ask that.
I have found that the easiest way is to pull off the atty......press the fire button to "reset", turn the mod off (5 clicks) install new coil/atty, then turn back on..... This seems to give me a more accurate first reading, since it reads the coil live.... So it starts to read as soon as any contact is made.... If I don't turn it off I get too high of a reading to start, and it takes awhile to refine down.....well I wanna use it NOWZ! Turning it off lets me![]()
I haven't done nickel yet, and hopefully won't. I have a nickel allergy. The Ti is a little weird to work with but not terribly.I'm doing coil building in baby steps. I want to join in because I think I fit in this category the best, but I haven't found myself thinking....I have something interesting to say or add to somebody elses post sooooo..... I guess HI will have to suffice for now. I will ask if I have "what it is to be a modwomper" correct.?. I use a variety of mods from a simple non adjustable pen style (not as much anymore) to my sigelei 150. I use toppers that include various 1.8 ohm heads like mini kangers (all the kanger family) to RDAs and rebuildable subtanks, but I am not a huge builder. I would not put myself in the cloud chaser crowd but have been known to toot one out now and again but don't fit the tootlepuffer (not that there is anything wrong with it- for old Seinfeld fans). Did I get it right and more importantly..... Do I fit in?![]()
If its prompting you every few puffs, that indicates a drift in resistance greater then 5%.... That's most likely caused by a bad connection, either coil legs or in the atty (which atty are you using?)If I follow your steps (similar to what I've done in the past, including rebooting the mod) I don't always get that prompt.
Sometimes the mod will drift such that I have to set abnormally high temps (as high as 600F) just to get a coolish vape. In that case I try to cool it down and then try to reset it via that prompt but I can't always get the prompt. And then on occasion I'll get that prompt every few puffs.
The Stapled Staggered Fused Clapton. I tried to make this once but ran out of patience with the ribbon in the center.Time to make a new coil... What to make![]()

Can you turn off the atty lock? I didn't see that in the manual. If its prompting you every few puffs, that indicates a drift in resistance greater then 5%.... That's most likely caused by a bad connection, either coil legs or in the atty (which atty are you using?)
As long as the atty lock is off, and you have cleared it by firing with atty off, not getting the new coil prompt isn't a big deal in my experience....it still reads the coil anew. Check your legs, make sure one isn't touching a coil underneath, that can cause res fluctuations as well.

Never mind, I was being stupid. I found the lock/unlock thing. I had been running unlocked and that is probably why it drifted so muchCan you turn off the atty lock? I didn't see that in the manual.
I got the occasional intermittently repeating prompts using an STM, and they cleared by themselves before I had much chance to do anything. I figured the resistance was drifting for some reason.

Three clicks of the button, toggle switch left twice....toggle right to turn on and off.....fire button to exit menuCan you turn off the atty lock? I didn't see that in the manual.

Yea, I reread the manual and now I'm on a better track. But after unlocking, and then switching atty's, following the manual exactly, I still did not get the prompt they mention. I'll try it again after it cools off.Did you unlock the ohm setting?
