I don't have a STM, but this sounds pretty much like what I experienced with the evic -- it would vape great for a while, but then for no apparent reason, after about a day-ish, I'd notice the resistance had changed (though mine were nothing near that low), and hardly get anything at all from it. I would sometimes switch it to Ni instead of Ti, and then I could get a vape, but it would taste burnt. and yes i set the temp lower with Ni; didn't matter, it always tasted burnt with the Ni setting.

I just got tired of the inconsistency and futzing around with it, and sold it. With regular kanthal coils, I can *depend* on my vape.

The lure of simple will draw them back to the Kanthal side.

That's your problem, you're using a Subtank Mini. I have 4 Subtank Mini's and with every single one of them, the resistance fluctuates. This is why I no longer use my Subtank Mini's. When I put a nickel coil into either my Freemax Starre Pro, Triton, or Atlantis tanks, the resistance stays rock solid. I'm currently using an Atlantis 2 with a Vaporshark Atlantis nickel coil on my evic-VT and have been using the same combo for over six weeks now. For the entire time, not once has the resistance changed (and I don't even have atty lock turned on) and it has vaped exactly the same every single day.

If you take the RBA deck and cinch up the bottom pin, they become rock solid.

The Kanthal is seductive. Especially for Tootlers.

Completely agree. And I've been building coils for over a year now, getting to the point that I can wick them perfectly first time, almost everytime. And guess what? I can now taste when my Achilles needs a refill; it just happened a few minutes ago, this slight metallic taste, so I took another hit to be sure it wasn't some fluke of my tastebuds, and there it was again, that hot metal taste. Opened it up, and sure enough; there was still enough liquid in the wick to prevent an outright dry hit, so no burnt cotton taste, but the bottom of the well was dry, so I started tasting the metal of the coil. Refilled it, and now it vapes great again, no burnt taste, so I know it didn't get dry enough to burn the wick... just dry enough to know it needed more juice.

Think I'll stick with what I know, what works everytme.

Not always. I am on my third week with a Ni200 coil in one of my STM's on my Evic. I did have issues of chattering temp with my IPV4's and I heard thats been fixed but the upgrade software for it is such a POS that neither my desk top PC nor laptop will recognize my IPV4's to upgrade them.

Yep I can taste when my tootle tanks are running dry as well. No reason to ever get a dry/burned hit when tootle puffing.

It's odd that I have a vendor sample unit.....ver 1.10, and I never get that :p
The only ohm fluctuations I get are: Bad build (went through that a lot first couple of weeks), or bad design (kanger ni200 occ coils. Even my kayfun v4's, which many have had issues with TC on, have all been rock solid.
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

Now this is exactly my kind of luck. I have 2 IPV4's. Out of frustration on trying to get them updated I hooked one up to the back of the PC and one to the front and low and behold, it recognized it so installed drivers for the IPV4. Upgraded one of them, went to upgrade second one and no go. Will not see it for anything :(
So now I have one IPV4 at 120 watts and one at 100 watts and not a clue where the receipt is for it :(

TC talk is entertaining. It's hot right now. People love it, hate it or they're not impressed. I think there are many who haven't figured out proper use or have undetected problems and some are blaming TC when they should be checking their tanks. The iStick 40 should be simpler to use. I still haven't decided what TC is for me. I like it with my SX Mini but not quite as much usin it on my VaporShark or Evic. Both are good mods though. I swap tanks and drippers around and I can't do that as easy with nickel builds. I'm afraid I might stick a ni200 build on my REO and blow a battery :) Some people may never try it but I think it's here to stay especially as it's bound to get better. Set a temperature to vape and it's maintained consistently...why not?

Luckily ni is so soft, you are more likely to pop the coil then blow a battery of you do that :p

I'm glad I got over the "this is the new thing", saves me lots of money. :) I Am Happy with what I am using at right now (for a year or so) and have no need to try the next big thing on the market ( which happens too often). I am SO over buying Shinny Stuff, I have reverted to the KISS Vaping (Keep It Simple Stupid). JMHO

I don't have shiny itus...:) If I want something new and better, I get it. I just sell the old stuff. Like the 50w iStick 6 mos. old for 50 bucks 2 days ago. Some are happy with their ego kits even after a couple of years.
