I thought you could not dry burn Titanium or Nickle wire?

You can dry burn them both and I have. I also experimented with igniting Ti so I would know how dangerous that was. Can be done easily with a propane torch, not possible with a Bic lighter. It burns reasonably quickly, comparable to soft wood and there is not enough mass in a coil to create much heat. The burn stopped when it got close to my pliers.

Health issues for all wire materials are do they emit metal, what oxides are formed and do they get into our vape. Kanthal can make hexavalent chromium and it doesn't take much of that to become very bad to inhale. Both Ni and Ti can also make some nasty oxides. OTOH, all of these oxides are hard and protect what is inside the wire.

I dry burn all three but 'gently', which means I don't let the wire get hotter than where it just starts to glow. Until we know more about what actually comes off these wires under vaping conditions that's my personal sweet spot :)

When did PG/VG stop being the standard?

I've noticed a lot of people reversing the positions.

I still consider it the standard. If people want to be WRONG, not much we can do about it.

Thanks for the info, I have seen pictures of the white oxide on Ti wire and didn't know at what point that was generated.

I do too. The eJuice Me Up calculator puts PG first so I've always done it since I vaped 75/25. (PG/VG) now it's more 35/65 to 20/80

I think it is only natural to use the larger number first. It's like sports scores....you don't say that the team is losing 2 to 3, you say that the team is losing 3 to 2.
When I first started vapin the B&Ms sold juice with higher PG than VG 70/30, 60/40 and then 50/50. Now the same stores are sellin more juice with higher VG in it cause people are wantin clouds :2c: So once past 50/50 it flipped

I started vaping a year ago last July and always vaped 50/50 be it PG/VG or VG/PG. Just didnt matter. Anytime anyone talked about 60/40, 70/30, 80/20, you knew they was talking about VG/PG unless it was stated otherwise. Same thing be it in ECF or elsewhere, in the juice sections or DIY sites. I started going up on the VG with the kayfun lite and the Orchid just trying to get them to stop leaking. No matter how I wicked them, they would leak so thought thicker juice might be the answer and for the kayfun lite, it helped. Now I just use max VG on everything because its easier.
Saying one way of stating it over another way is wrong is just wrong in itself. Things change, evolve. Back in the day people used more PG than VG so of course the standard was PG/VG but things are no longer that way and neither is the way people express it. All things change with time.

You need to get yourself a Poseidon for that Snow Wolf and put the 8 coil build on it... :D

Or a VA Goliath with 8 coils...

Since I use 86/14, it's natural to me, but even if I used 14/86, it would be Pg first. It's like describing someone's height -- you say, 5'4", not 4"5'.

You're welcome TrollDragon :)

I've heard of a white substance on Ti but never noticed any on my coils. Then again I didn't go out of my way looking for it. It would be pretty easy to do the experiment though. Color and brightness are pretty good indicators of the coil's temperature. If you heat it to just barely glowing it will be a dull red. Heat it hotter in stages and see if you can create it. If you decide do this, I would be very interested to know what you find out :thumb:

I can't test that out as I am still behind the times with good ole Kanthal and no TC mods. :|

From the little research I did, it was estimated that 300,000 Americans was vaping in 2010. As of Feb the estimate was at 2.5 million. In 2010 from what I understand, most people used high PG liquid. Now its the opposite and more people use high VG over PG. With that in mind I believe its safe to assume that what was previously a standard is now outdated and people are making new standards. As was previously pointed out, people will naturally put the larger number first.
