Damn I'm jealous. I live in the boonies - only one real ISP and it's a WISP. Expensive and crappy. They upgraded the tower equipment recently and I upgraded my account to the top level - 10mb/2.5mb

I was on that thread for a while, mostly just watching/reading. When I stopped watching it Dr. F had replied and said that it was speculation based on talks he had with his metallurgist friend, but was another of his "avoidable risks." The consensus of the metallurgists who were participating in the thread remained that there was no break down occurring. Perhaps I should peek back in on the thread if there have been further developments.

I am on another forum also, perhaps a link was provided there or it could have been the blog you mentioned, I am really not sure,
For now I just avoid dry burning/glowing coils, but I do remember other metallurgists saying we should in fact dry burn and get them glowing, confusing...

As much as I love everything to do with vaping, I can not keep up with all the info, I simply don't have the time, I just wish more funding was present for proper tests.

I cant get DSL where I am at. Too far off the road and too far off the beaten path for it. It took an act of congress just to get cable. I am 500 ft off the road and the cable company didnt want to run the cable that far. One day I get a knock on the door, cable guy asking if he can drive his truck in my yard to get to the pole. Told him I didnt know seeing how they refused to give me cable service so he give me a number and swears they will run the wire now. OK. Guy also told me it was advantageous for them to run the wire and keep me happy because if I said no to them accessing my yard then they would have to have the big truck called up from New Orleans (50 miles away) in order to access the cable line. Good to know!
I call the number, and they said they will come check it out. Month later still no cable internet. I call them and they tell me I am too far off the road to run cable....OK, big mistake. A month or so later a cable guy asking if he can access my yard to work on the pole. HELL NO! and told him why. He gives me a song and dance about its their right to access it and I tell him to just call New Orleans for the big truck (was good info to have lol) The guy leaves and 15 minutes later comes back and ask if he promises to run the cable the next day will I let them access the pole. Told him ok and the Next morning 5 cable guys and three big trucks was in my yard running cable. Been having cable internet ever since ( and I watch Directv)
Before that I had satellite internet which sucked for gaming with its 1200-2000 latency and cellular internet which had a 1 GB limit per month.

Your cable connection is better than the DSL anyway. We had one of the first POTS DSL lines here with a modem for us and card in a rack back at the CO. They eventually switched everyone over to DSL modems they could control the speed on and we hung onto to the old unregulated system as long as we could. Every time we had issues with the connection they had to send a tech out to the CO to reset the card in the rack. Eventually they figured out that if they just claimed not to be able to fix it the next time we had problems we would switch to the newer regulated modem.

Wrong! Take it all out and we'll put cable internet in thanks. We enjoyed the speed of cable internet for a few years, up until Fiber rolled through town... :D

Wompers!, just wondering what your thoughts are on Nickel & Titanium with regards to toxicity in the TC mod environment?
(What little info I did find on the net was rather scary...)
Since I've welded a lot of Hastelloy, Inconel, stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium, NiChrome .etc., I don't see a point in worryin about a tiny little coil that doesn't even reach meltin temps at this time. :2c:

I got their first album when it came out (1979?). All my friends were rockers (me too) but I dug that new sound. Some of my friends called it punk rock (they had no idea lol)

From '79 till maybe mid-80's, I was a HUGE!!! fan of Cheap Trick; although they later got more "popified", their first album was VERY punk-ish... but some igmo told me they were "bubble gum". All I could say was "clearly, you haven't been listening to Cheap Trick. Go listen to some more Archies, and Tommy Roe, and tell me again that Cheap Trick is 'bubblegum."

Probably not, but I started doing image optimization back when *I* was still on dial-up, and I still get nervous anytime I have to post an image over 100k. :D I optimized that one down to 16 colors, 8-bit PNG, but it was still over 100k, so I just made it a thumbnail, so if someone didn't care about my blues playlist, they didn't have to suffer thru loading the whole image. :D

Good job!. I designed and built 3 lines of fitness equipment ( about 250 different machines). One of my early Inner/Outer thigh machines and others built for ladies. (Couldn't find any others on the net)

Must be at least 25 years old...Later machines were more advanced
