Some might prefer a kayfun, but Im not one of them. I like a tank but I also like lots of airflow. A kayfun cant do that. I cannot get a satisfying lung hit from a kayfun because its too restrictive, plus to me its a major PITA to take apart so you can rewick it. On the other hand, a subtank loves lung hitters and is easy to take apart plus has one of the best RBA decks on the market.
I run kayfun lites, i just took the air flow control screws completely out and i get great airflow.

New VCT Mini came today.

First thing I did was update it to 3.0. Kinda a symbolic waving of the middle finger at Robert.

It works fine and its a slightly better screen layout. Basically got rid of the puff counter and such.

Also adds 316SS and TBQDF or whatever.

Not really anything to be happy or sad about.

Good.

If it works I'll ask you to do mine.

Details of why this may be important to follow when I find out for sure.

Hopefully tonight.
I'm sneaking up on it :D

shortened the center screw

Milling out the... whatever this thing is. I need to go a bit deeper tomorrow

Drilled out and beveled the air inlets.

I'm getting close to the Hurricane air flow.

I have to say, I've enjoyed my vaping more since i got the Achilles, than at any time from any device i used prior to the Achilles. It's just so dang EASY! None of that vacuum silliness, no leaking, no having to take it off the mod just to refill; just take off the cap and put a couple droppers' full in it, and away we go, back to great vaping. I love how it signals when it needs a refill, the subtleties of taste.

An Achilles with about twice the airflow I would like.

Yepper on the STM. The V2 you can MTL or you can have bigger airflow a very versatile tank. I just got 2 more in vapemail today.
going to order a few spare parts from FT for them and be set for several years on them.
I have a Lemo2 and like the STM's better.

Which would wipe out 90% of its greatness -- the fact that it's a great RDA with tight draw is the miraculous thing -- there are lots of huffing RDAs to choose from, but only one Achilles.

ETA: actually there are now 2 -- original and v2, but the v2 hasn't yet been cloned, so I don't know for sure about it yet. they say the airflow can be opened more, yet still be tightened up nicely. We'll see.

We should go beat up on Robert Cromwell in his thread.

Call him a doodie head and stuff.
Sure. I would just think you are my Wife Unit.
But I had it closed.

Mine was very confused when I updated it thought power mode at 20 watts on a 1.3 ohm coil was 5.7 something volts.
Then I pulled the battery and it straightened out but then the menus worked different. got back to power mode and it vaped ok. but I was po'd and just reverted it to v2.0. works like it always did now. Version 3 software with a version 1 manual online at Joyetech.

Someday I might mess with TC and maybe not.

I thought about modifying my Kayfuns V4 a few times. Bore out the center airhole, work on the air channels, try to make it more airish and then I thought why, why try to turn it into a STM when it will still have the problems of being a PITA with its coil deck. Not wicking the way I like and all.
Thats when I bought my last STM. No sense in trying to re-invent the wheel when there is a perfectly good wheel available.

I can tell you from experience you are right.

I've removed as much metal as possible on this v4 and while a bit more airflow is moving through it, it's no STM or Hurricane.

A chimney coil gave the biggest gains. This one was 2.5mm but I made a 3mm that was a bit better.

I see it more as one of those kit cars sold in the back of PN when we was all kids.

Like a Ferrari body kit on a VW.

I want the look of the K4. But I want performance too. In that way its not like a kit car at all now that I think about it.

Who knew the VCT Mini brought out such emotion??

Robert and Boden really seem to have Nutdar.

P3 K4 seems to be 160 bucks. But the airflow can't be saved huh?? That sucks.
Nutdar? o_O Trolls be trollin :D

It was designed to be a great tank at 12W with 12-18mg 90/10-50/50 liquid. With all the mods I did to it, I can get up to 18W with 66/33 (could go higher with a higher VG liquid) but thats about all this tank has to give.

I highly recommend the Hurricane tank if more air is needed.
