I also bought an Optivisor a little while back to replace my first cheap magnifier witch had a broken headband. I added this LED light to it. It adds a bit of weight but the light is so good it's worth it to me. Great combo.

Plus my wife says I look like an alien when I wear it

Maybe she says you look like an alien cause she thinks you're out of this world.

Just make sure it doesn't have an Opti-Grab!

Hey @AndriaD, I might have the answer to your evic problem!

Do a twisted wire....but instead of two strands of Ti....do one Ti and one kanthal......temp control will still work the same, but you will get the kanthal vape you are accustomed to.
Try 28 gauge ti (I believe that's what you said you had?) with 28 gauge kanthal twisted, and do a 5-6 wraps coil with that.
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

All these Kayfuns sitting in a drawer could be put to use...
I run a home for unloved and unwanted atty's. :D

Maybe one of these days but I gotta keep em as backups for now haha. Now that my vaping style has completely changed I need to start looking at tanks with more airflow. While I love dripping I miss the convenience of having a tank when Im driving. I was going to pick up a Cthulhu but I already go through enough juice as it is with a single coil at 20w in my Derringer and Bonsai, so I dont want a dual coil tank. I just saw on Facebook yesterday though theyre developing the V2 that will have both a dual and single coil deck so that just might be the ticket.. I still have to try the S Kit on one of my KF4s, but Ive read the airflow isnt that significantly bigger with it.

I really enjoy the KF4 and have a S-Kit in mine, it is not that much more airflow wise but I wanted the PEEK insulator. I had a look at the Cthulhu and read that it didn't top fill without leaking plus a few other issues. I already have a Silverplay that can burn through juice like it's free with a dual 0.2 24g build in it. So I didn't really need another juice burner and ended up getting the Big German clone which is a 10ml juice burner...

The V2 of the Cthulhu might be alright, the Silverplay V2 fixed all of the V1 problems but it is still a juice burner. What I really need is a 10ml tank for my Rose's and I'd be more than satisfied all day long. I love the vape from the Rose.

I think my next tanks will be the KS RTA from Tobeco and a Taifun GSII. But one never knows whats just around the corner...

That is an excellent accessory for the Optivisor!

I dunno... I'm so disappointed with the whole thing, not sure I wanna waste anymore time on it. It was my gift to myself for my year smoke-free, but it hasn't turned out to be a gift at all, just another PITA. If I sell it, I'll buy one of those Phiniac etched CF4s. Much better gift, since i KNOW I love my CF4.

What's to loose? You like kanthal coils better, but you like the idea of tc for no dry hits...... This would give you both

But what about the dry burning? I had wondered if that was even possible with a twisted-wire coil. The idea of turning the titanium into something poisonous just by dry-burning it to get rid of the gunk really puts me off. I did think about that beforehand, but I thought (hoped?) the titanium might resist gunking, as so many seem to be finding.

ETA: also -- if I twisted the two kinds of wire together, I would have NO way of calculating it with SteamEngine, to know how many wraps... you, and some others, may "wing it," but I don't do anything until I consult SteamEngine, and there's no choice for wrapping titanium and kanthal together. :(

AAARGH Vapor Range!! Man for all the good things Ive said about them they just couldnt get this last order right! First they send me a replacement bottom cap for the Stingray X instead of the actual mod.. The mod finally showed up today, and they didnt even send me the Infinite one I paid for! They sent me the Shenxi one, which according to their website is out of stock. Not sure if I even want to bother with it anymore.

You CAN dry burn ti, just not heat it above 1200 degrees.....dry burn in ti mode set to 600.....no problem.

For the building, the bulk of your resistance will be in the kanthal... The ti will drop it some, but you could calculate for .5-.6 kanthal twisted, and just know you will be slightly under that...... There is a math equation to figure out what it will be exactly.... But I know how you feel about math :p

Got that right. Arithmetic? No problem. Long-winded equations? Crossed eyes and palpitations. :D

So what do you figure, 5-6 wraps? those twisted coils are so honkin big! I use a 7/64 for those, so I can get a wick thru it!

I'm getting it cleaned up, in case I do sell it, but I can try it and see how it vapes. Nuffink on the tube tonight anyway. Wish five-oh would hurry up and come back.

5-6 wraps is my sweet spot for almost all builds, so I would start out there. The "getting an exact ohm" thing was far more important with mechs, but with your tc mod, as long as you are within the operating ranges, ball park really IS good enough :)

I'd still say give it time to figure out.... You did get a good vape out of it, so we know it's possible, as opposed to you just don't like how it vapes.....we will get you squared eventually....

Umm... This makes no sense electrically. The electrons will follow the path of least resistance. The kanthal will have almost no electron flow and will only act as a heatsink. The rise in resistance would be caused by the extra length of TI needed to make the wrapped wire.

Is there something I'm missing?
