I'm not sure how these iSub coils are mounted. As attached to them as I am, it would be hard to abandon them for another type, but I would if I could build AND install my own coils. Or are you talking about dripper types? I'm too busy to drip, it seems like it would take too much time. I run past and grab a hit off this tank on the fly and then continue on.

I had the same problem with the dishes, too. I started using devils claw herb (anti-inflammatory) and that helps a GREAT deal, as in now I can wash dishes again and actually get a pan out of the cupboard, but small stuff is still hard or impossible. It's better in the summer when it's hot and everything moves better, but winter's coming on, and I'm feeling it. Yep, getting old sucks.

~Lannie

My experience with different atties is actually a bit limited; so far I think the only ones I've seen with the "thru the post" type fasteners are drippers, but some drippers have a deep enough well that you don't have to drip constantly; my Achilles holds 2.5ml, but it's like a Kayfun, around the post-screws; Magmas hold about 1-1.5ml, and I think those are *thru* the posts rather than around the post-screws -- that one is actually very easy to build, and provides a really outstanding vape, though admittedly, it's a pain for taking anywhere, because it has a tendency to a slight leak, and you have to keep it fully vertical or it will spill everywhere. There's a way of modifying it that will (I think!) eliminate the slight slow leak, but I dunno if it would help much with the need to keep it vertical. For rebuildable-atty tanks, all I've seen so far are the around-the-post-screws type fasteners; there may be others that I'm not aware of, that have the thru-the-posts design.

Thanks, Boden! That looks pretty easy! Now, can I get it IN the base? I need to start doing some research on the subject.
Most fit a drill bit or somesuch inside the coil to help position it in the base and keep in in shape while securing it.

The first link in Boden's sig has some insight on that. Or there are lots of vids on youtube on it.
The center pin used in the Coil Master winding jig is used by those who have it. You do not have to remove the coil from the pin until you are done positioning it in the base.

They did make a 3D printed "helper" for putting coils onto a Kayfun, it would assist someone who couldn't hold all the stuff in place to mount the coil. Designed around Silica wick and fine gauge wire but should be able to work with Rayon or Cotton.

Unfortunately they never released the 3D printer plans and it was only available from the SvoёMesto's Russian site.

Annoying music... mute is highly recommended.

Sounds like a job for our resident 3D printer guy!

I am wondering if an Authentic Lemo 2 wouldn't be a good choice for @Lannie to use.

Easy build deck with the side post holes and top side fill. Premade coils could be bought from FT to save on the coil winding part if needed.

Here, I was, getting all excited about donuts, and then this ^^^^ Now I don't much feel like eating a donut...

So, can a person without thumbs build coils? Or are thumbs absolutely required? This is something I'd like to learn at some point, but my thumb joints are so damaged, it's hard to pick things up, much less hold onto them. I guess I should go find a few videos to watch, and maybe that will tell me.

~Lannie

I think it would be difficult but not impossible,

You GUYS! I feel like I'm on a roller-coaster! LOL! First you get me all excited for donuts :w00t:, then I find out you stuck 'em on the plunger handle , then you get me all excited again about a tank that I might actually be able to make my own coils for :w00t:, and then tell me the glass sucks ! Is there another kind of tank LIKE that where maybe the glass is a bit thicker, or stronger? Because looking at that picture, it looks like it would be a piece of cake to stick the wires in the holes and tighten down the screws. One leg goes into each hole under the screw, right? I could DO that, I think!

Mod puffer, I can live with, tootle... not so much.
Let's get that beef cooking!;)

OK, seriously, in other news, I keep meaning to get one of these:
thirdhand_01.jpg

koiler/coil jig and a "third hand" - some serious comfort, but every time I look in Dutch or French, I get some crazy non related results, the only reason I still don't own one!
Anyway perhaps these tools could help with bad thumbs...

OMG, Rich has one of these! That exact one, in fact. It's all dusty and sitting in a corner, but it can be cleaned up! :)

One leg in each hole and tighten! I think it comes prebuilt as well.

Everyone seems to say the glass is thinner on the stock tank than the replacement...
For $10 you can get 15 replacement tanks and a nice case to keep them in. (Shipping Protection Too :))
$10.05 Replacement Glass Tank for Eleaf Lemo 2 RTA Atomizer (15-Pack) - translucent at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

The authentic Lemo 2 there as well.
$26.56 Authentic Eleaf Lemo 2 RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 3.8ml / stainless steel + glass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Those alligator clips aren't very strong; it could hold something that you were welding/soldering on, which I think is the actual purpose of it... but hold something that you need to pull tightly on? No way. I got one of those, and ended up giving it to my husband to look at his coins with, because those clips are useless, and the magnifier isn't THAT strong. I got a magnifying visor and it's much stronger, and a lot more useful. To hold coil bases while I'm mounting the coil, I got a 3" vise, which is heavy enough to stay put while exerting tension on the coil leads to get 'em around the screws.

Good point, Andria. I didn't even think of that. Oh, well, we have vises around here in every shape and size, so I'm sure I can find something that will work. Or I'll get one of those coil jig things. I can put the finished coil in the deck (is that the right word?) without having to use a vise, right?

I have another question. Please be patient with me. I promise to remember most of what you guys tell me, so hopefully, I won't be asking the same questions twice... but I've been looking at one of those new iJoy Solo mini mods. The rose gold one in particular. It takes a single 18650 battery, and I have a couple just sitting here since my beautiful Spire bit the dust, but I've been reading some things around the forum that maybe you can't use very high wattage with a single 18650? My Spire only went up to 15 so it was definitely a tootle rig, but the iJoy goes to 75 watts. I'll never go that high - my max seems to be 30 - but would I be wasting money to get a mod that only uses one battery and running it at 25 or 30 watts? Would I be changing batteries every hour or something stupid like that? I was gonna make Rich buy me that rose gold beauty for my birthday, but I'm frugal, and if I'm going to have to constantly be changing batteries, it might not be worth it. It LOOKS gorgeous, though, and I really want one! What do you guys think?

Right now my daily mods are two Disrupters (PIFs from generous ECF friends :) ) and using my iSub tanks at 25 or 30 watts on them, I get half a day's use out of each one. When the first one is getting low, I put it on the charger and grab the other one, which will last me the rest of the day. Would an 18650 battery mod be *about* similar to that, or would it not last as long? I could go almost two days with one battery in the Spire, but I only ever did 7 or 8 watts on that.

The chip has alot to do with battery life. Using the same battery my D2 will last most of the day while my Kbox will last a couple hours. So no telling what that mod will be like. I found my Disrupter batteries to last much longer then 18650's.

South Dakota is one of my favorite places. Actually its my favorite but my wife prefers Montana so we spilt the differance and plan to live in Longmire country.

Have you given thought to one of these?

The moment you order a Silverplay V2, VaporDNA has been instructed to send the black Chevy Suburbans out to your house. There would obviously be some kind of shenanigans going on requiring an a full investigation as to your true whereabouts, also to find out who is posting here. :glare:
