Would be a good idea if I wasn't deaf as a post. And these darn hearing aids beep every time I walk past an active electronic device that isn't properly shielded (wireless command sets picking up stray EMR?). I can't even walk through the kitchen when Lannie is using the cheap ultrasonic cleaner to rapid-steep her juice creations without being totally blasted by loud static noises. Maybe taping a bat to my chest so I can watch its reaction while trying to navigate the vog (vape fog, not volcanic fog) will be my best bet. :)

You are most welcome. I thought since Vaping is molecular gastronomy a cooking analogy suited.

It does! It's just like cooking. Maybe that's why I'm so good at juicemaking. ;) (No conceit here, is there? Well, I AM good at it!)

You could make a Faraday cage for your head. Like a beekeepers hat :D

Resistance is irrelevant as long as the mod will hit the wattage output you want. 24ga would be pretty slow at that wattage, 26ga a bit better and 28 noticeably faster.

From what I'm finding wire selection is pretty simple. The thicker the wire (including art coils) the more hot air you get with the vapor. So if that hot air helps the flavor use a thick wire. The cost is ramp up time.

If you want less hot air and more vapor use a thinner wire covering the same area (same ID and width)

I find with my summertime melon vape I want a cool dense vapor during the day so I use 30ga.

At night with my new Bavarian Coconut which is more of a bakery flavor a bit more hot air helps lower the sweetness and flavor density and brings out the custard so I'm using 28ga. If I wanted it warmer and thinned out a bit more I'd use 26ga.

You can think of coil design like serving temperatures . You mixed up the ingredients in the juice. The temp you serve it at and how rich or watered down it is makes a difference as well.

Excellent post. This is the most articulate and on point discussion of how and why wire gauge affects vapor properties/quality ever made. <nods>

U winz teh interwebz for 2day. :w00t:

Okay, done with the test on the 28ga build.

How many 4 second puffs and how much electricity it took to get through 5mL of 70%vg. All coils set to 66.6 Watts of heat.

All coils had 4mmID, 8.4mm width
Exception being the 30ga Radiator which had a more streamlined shape but an effective 4mm ID.

For comparison:
26/32ga fused Clapton: 195 puffs, 51,948Ws
26ga parallel: 158 puffs, 42,091.2Ws
28ga parallel: 134 puffs, 35,697Ws
30ga triple parallel: 96 puffs, 25,574.4Ws

Or for the more visually oriented

That and you are incredibly smart :)

Thank you, what a nice compliment. :) I meant to tell you that earlier but something in my browser crashed right after I saw it, and ECF locked up. Then I had to eat breakfast. :p

Things can be a lot worse, thats for sure. Heard sad but expected news today. A week ago my cousin was visiting some friends and her almost 2 year old daughter followed the cat outside while the adults was talking. It only took a second. She fell into the pool. They got her, revived her and she been in a coma all week since then. This morning the lil girl lost her battle. So when things seem really bad, just remember they can be a lot worse.
