So, now my package is back in NJ. I have a feeling those flavors will be so ...... off by the time they finally arrive.
Just wait til you get the bill for all the travel...

I spent the day yesterday traveling with The Wife. We did a little craft demo, saw a movie (Pirates), bought an Angora goat buck, had dinner (David's Burgers... wow!). Throughout all of this, I used just 2 mods and 2 tanks... kinda running a side-by-side showdown... on the one side, the Geekvape Ammit Dual on top of the Vaporesso Nebula. On the other, the VandyVape Kylin with the HohmTech Home Slice. Hmmmmm...

We also stopped at several vape shops... alas... I'm better equipped than most shops... I bought nothing... However, this brings up a rant... brace yourselves...

I'm getting a little sick and tired of smok. Sure, their mods are pretty good, but their current run is damaging the industry at large. Damaging? Yup... B&Ms, trying to cater to such a diverse crowd, have sunk so much money into the gotta-get-em-all mentality created by the 564435 color combinations the Alien kit is available in, they're carrying little else... very few starter kits, no mechs, no rebuildables... just stacks and stacks of multi-colored alien kits. Meanwhile, in order to get any traction at all, other companies are trying the same thing... so there are now 36545 Therion colors, 43345 Predator colors, 43345 iStick colors which makes it look like there are very few DEVICE options... scan fasttech's TC Mod category... page after page of Aliens and Therions... Sooner or later, the demand for these kits will drop, and I can see thise B&Ms left holding dozens of these mods which will be so devalued by the flood, that they'll be lucky to move them at cost. This behavior has stifled innovation... why come out wuth something new and better, when you can slap a different coat of paint on something old and keep right on selling? And, in spite of the percieved personalization opportunities, it's making thing LESS customizable... skin manufacturers must be hurting... If I had my druthers, there'd be 5 color combos... stainless, black, white, brass/gold, copper. Any further customization can be achieved with skins/wraps/battery door/panels...

End rant...

Well, they have innovated the color spectrum of mods. Consider it a bit like the Model T. Black worked, but eventually even Ford had to offer other colors. ;)

Yeah, but imagine where we'd be if all Ford ever did was add colors... we'd all be driving around Model Ts with pink and purple camouflage and chrome accents lol

Where's the Smok Xenomorph 240? Sleek, truly accurate TC, accurate 240 watts, dual 20700, SOLID 510 connector. It would come bundled with the Smok MDTA... a Chinese rethinking of the new Taifun BT that would come with a mesh-as-a-coil rba AND mesh as a coil heads.

I mean, if I can think this up sitting on my tush in rural 'merica, and Smok - with it's big R&D department and budget hasn't stepped up with it... if all their R&D department can come up with is a new color scheme for an old product... maybe it's time they rethunk things, a bit...

Where's the DNA250C competitor with triple 20700?

I can go on...

Remember, this entire thought process came about because I can't find anything new worth buying...

I have zero interest in Smok mods. We have had half a dozen Alien's with the blown screen issue come back, and I now see that the G320's are starting to shet the bed too. I stopped looking at Smok as a viable mod manufacturer after the M80 fiasco of two years ago.

Should soon be time for Cloupor to poke its head back into the arena.

I tried a couple Cloupors... not for me, really...

I had the M80+ and liked everything but the TC... I feel like they redeemed themselves, though, and I like their mods... I have the XCube II, XCube Ultra, XCube Mini, Treebox, Koopor Plus, R200, Koopor Primus, G-Priv, H-Priv, Alien, and GX350. I've had no issues...

Then again, I generally try to baby my gear...

You definitely have more experience with the product line. Working at my local vape shop has given me a more jaded view of them. A customer comes in an picks up an Alien Kit, 4 VTC5A Batteries, a Nitecore D2 charger and parts with $200 CAD (poor Canadian dollar) after taxes. He's back in a week with the mod not working because he forgot to shut it off (as per Smok's website) before removing the batteries for charging. He rants and raves and goes on about it, gets a replacement and goes out the door happy for the time being.

Everyone who buys an Alien kit is informed of this problem before they leave the shop.

You're supposed to turn the mod off first before removing the batteries? Oops

Nothing has gone wrong yet, and I can change my charging strategy, but what's the bad stuff that happens if you don't turn it off? Now I feel like the last 6 months with the mod is living right on the edge.

The problem is not a given, but a could possibly happen and probably won't happen to a majority of the users out there. It's a dice roll. ;)

The screen will not come back on properly, it's very dim and pixely and eventually the mod will not turn on. A firmware flash might fix it, these were all B versions and I couldn't find any updated firmware on Smok's site.

They recommend to avoid abnormal shutdown, that info is for the XCube (support pages have no updates) and is basically their CYA to put the blame on the consumer.
