Some states are gonna be brutalized and some left alone and some in between.

If I was a betting man I'd say you are gonna be left alone.

I hope so, and maybe the state won't be so strict, but I'm not sure about our local Postal Nazi. Way back, many moons ago, Rich and I used to order cigarettes from a reservation in NY. The federal cigarette taxes had been paid on them, but there was no state tax. They shipped them through the mail, and the Postal Nazi turned us in to the state Dept. of Revenue. We got a bill for "use tax" for all the cartons of cigarettes that had gone through the post office. She freaking KEPT TRACK OF THEM. Use tax is what SD charges on anything they missed charging sales tax on. After all, you're going to USE it in SD, so it makes no difference where you bought it. You're gonna pay the damn use tax or else. Now, admittedly, this was for cigarettes, which definitely ARE a tobacco product, but once August rolls around and e-cigs are officially considered "tobacco," she'll be gunning for stuff like that.

I'd just rather be safe than sorry.

What you describe is the dark and ugly world of bootlegging and the black market. Few in free states understand how petty it can be.

In NY the tax rate is basically 100% and what you can sneak past Albany is what you live on.

So you got a local nic-nazi. Your screwed. Once you go rouge its amazing how quickly things can turn. I have a buddy was make a few extra grand running cigs off the Rez. His wife got in a fight with her sister. The sister dropped a dime to the ATF and BOOM!!! with fines and lawyers he went from a few extra bucks to 10K in the hole.

I am here and my heart is full of hate and rage for this state.

We took a trip to Florida couple weeks ago shopping for a place to live. I hate the Gulf side but wife loves it. I want near as possible to St Augustine, likely outside Jacksonville. Details are still being hashed out and pending FEMA moving faster on the buyout.

I totally get that. The main reason I moved is because of the boot to the neck tactics of the State and City Gov't. Taxed for breathing the damn air!!! But as far as NY, to me there is no greater City or place in the world!
We thought about the East coast of Florida but to me it was too congested. Seems more of a country feel here on the West side. Although it is starting to get built out so I don't think it will feel that way much longer.

You could always move to Ocala, or Wildwood, there are still some "country" places in Fla. but it is going to be more toward the center and away from the beaches. Being a South Fla. east coast girl all my life, the idea of living in the center of the state, or north of Orlando frightens me. Two different states I always say.

That's actually funny cause to me the west coast is all Yankees and traffic and the east coast is more open and rural.

I have no thoughts of the middle of Florida. I need to be as close to the water as possible! I didn't mean "Country in the sense of the word. I meant for me having grown up and lived in the big City where everything is built on top of each other, here it is more widespread and low to the ground, not reaching the sky tops. That's what the East side reminds me of. Although I haven't seen all of the East just the Major cities. I was in Tampa last week for a couple of days and I couldn't stand it. Just too congested for me. I need my space in my later years!:D

Where I am is mostly middle of the country folks. Ohio, Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan. Those that travel the I75 corridor. But there has been a recent influx of people from NY, and NJ.

Well I have to head to the car dealer for a recall. Catch you guys and gals later.

Coming from NY and dealing with the flooding I don't care if I ever see a large puddle again.

I also hate people in general and liberals in patictular so avoid cities.

And finally traffic. Here in NY two cars is traffic and three would be heavy traffic. Four would be unheard of and I wouldn't know what to do. We only have one four lane road here and it's a toll road so I avoid it. Everything else is just a glorified goat path. 30 mph is fast here but most go 20 so they can text. Florida is 8 lanes at 80mph with a million of your closest friends.

Yeah man!
If I didn't have family out here I think I still would be in Port St Joe..a very affordable place to live and the town itself only had two gas stations, a Piggly Wiggly, a few boat dealerships and a couple hardware stores..very laid back lifestyle and the best fishing ever! lol

New York (no, not the city)
So tomorrow I plan on taking the boat out and going to my secluded, secret island and spend the day chilling out!
Ahhh love it! I've got an island too, it's not exactly secret or secluded because it's out in the middle of the Hudson River but it's only a 15 minute paddle from the marina that's two miles from my house :)
