LOL! I can imagine! Rich and I mostly go get eggs in the evening, when everyone is all done laying for the day, because a couple of ours need gloves to get underneath. Rich solved the problem nicely by grabbing the crabby hen around the neck and lifting her head up so she couldn't bite him (yes, BITE, they can take a chunk of skin out if they want), and THEN snatch the eggs out from under her.

Currently, we have two broody hens hunkered down in the horse barn, sitting on 3 eggs each. I only gave them 3 because there's a wild tabby with 4 kittens ALSO in the horse barn. In three weeks when those eggs hatch, the kittens will be learning to eat meat, and I foresee trouble if those hens aren't fierce enough to drive away mama cat. Fortunately, mama cat isn't very big, but I'd hate to lose a dozen or more little fuzzy chicks. Hopefully with less babies, the mama hens will be better able to protect them. I'd put some cat food out there for mama cat, but the chickens would just eat it... so she's on her own for finding food. There ARE plenty of mice and small birds to be had.

There's always SOMETHING going on with all these critters. And these wild cats aren't even OURS. They just figured out our place was safe because it's protected by the Pyrs, so no predators come in here. The RABBITS have figured that out, too.

RV can be any sized recreation vehicle, including small trailers. What you need is a major Motorhome. Planning, BTW, might require significant input from all your forum friends, but as I recall, you said it would start in September (2017?), so you need to do northern states first - the blizzards can start in October up here and the southern states are "relatively" safe all winter. I have driven through 30 of our states (nothing in the southeast corner, unfortunately), so if you need help, we can do that via PM.
