I suppose folks have their reasons for not going to the lounge, and that's fine. But there is no reason for anyone to leave this thread if they don't want to. Just post about vaping only here.

We've had to be steered back on track twice in two days. It would be a shame if we couldn't control ourselves, and got Lessifer's thread shut down. If you don't have an issue posting in the lounge.........quote the non vape posts you want to respond to, and carry them over to the lounge thread that Rixy set up. A little more effort, sure, but we owe that to Lessifer, and to ECF. If ya play in someone's sand box........ya play by their rules.

I agree, that is the best solution here..

While some latitude is given for threads like this, when the non-vape related banter starts to span multiple pages reminders are in order to veer back to being on topic. The Lounge was created so non-vape related fun can be had by all.
If I may. While I agree that most of the posts in this thread are vape related in general, the free association segues are necessary. This threads purpose is to be a place where average vapers can come and talk about shopping, tech, trends, builds, batteries, etc all in one place. The cost of that service is dealing with some chit chat.

Vape only threads are really boring or as with the shopaholic threads depressing.

I find that this group self regulates quite well. You may want to do more steering by asking vape related questions or bringing up a vape topic. A light push encounters much less resistance than a hard one.

Edit: Wompers, please don't chime in on this topic. I'm simply making a suggestion not opening a topic of discussion.

As I said, we do give some latitude. It's when the off topic banter spans multiple pages giving the impression to newer members that it's the norm. It's also why The Lounge was created, so threads can be totally non-vape related.

I agree the banter needs to stay on topic as much as possible but this pic you used is the Internet version of shouting

    I need everyone's help. You too @Robert Cromwell ;)

Why would the parallel 30g on the right be twice as efficient over a wide range of wattages as the 26/32 fused Clapton on the left.

This conflicts with the Common Knowledge to such a degree I need to find wether the problem is in my methodology or is this common knowledge completely wrong.

This is the first time I've done a methodical test on this. If the results were close I could chock the CK up to preference of shiny things. But it's not.

    Weight is below them.
( the coil on the right is a close copy of the one in use)

Where is the lost heat going.

Edit: I did notice the tank was much warmer to the touch when using the Clapton.

    How are you defining efficiency?

Watt seconds used vs juice consumption.

I used 4800Ws (40 four second puffs at 30W) with both coils in the same tank with the same airflow. Both coils had the same width and basic diameter (4mm). During 40 four second puffs the 30g triple parallel Radiator vaporized 1.5 mL, the 26/32 fused clapton vaporized 0.75mL.

I measured the consumed liquid by topping off the tank after the 40 puffs with a 2mL syringe.

Ramp up time on the clapton would be a lot longer, and you're not vaporizing anything until it's up to temp. Since your puff duration is the same, you may actually be getting less actual vaporization time?
    That's a good point.

I did test the Clapton at 60W using the same 40 puffs for 4 seconds and it consumed 1.4mL.

The tank got really hot during that test.

I think a good bit of the lost heat is traveling into the posts.

I couldn't run the 30g at 60W because at 4 seconds the wick was drying out. I had to turn it down to 45W so the wick could keep up.
That's why I repeated the test with both coils at 30W.

Same amount of wick (rayon) in both coils. Tails same length etc.

Well first the oval shape provides greater surface area than the circular Clapton. Then allow for airflow over that greater surface area and it should vaporize more liquid for an equivalent power input. Geometry will matter in determining efficiency and that oval, dependent on the direction of airflow over the surface can behave "better" than a circular coil.
