Yup. Cools off and turns opaque black again. They apparently offer additional replacement glass that does it in different colors. Only one I saw online was a yellow. It's a little gimmicky, but cute.

I got a bit too focused on the sheer manly awesomeness that I actually suceeded... Somehow, sorta. 
A 24ga matrix braid interlaced with a kludge bonded 24ga twisted pairs.
Actually got it mounted before I realized the ring won't fit over it...
ID is 5mm but the OD is 9mm

Hint: I'm making fun of all those "Art coils" I keep seeing in the coil forums. You know, the people who are so focused on making a coil look fancy that they lost all consern about function. Shhhhh, don't tell anybody.

Right? Just gimme my 7 wraps of 28 gauge on my gennie and I'm off to the races. Not going to spend hours making something look fancy when it's all covered up with a cap anyway.
I'm all for making pretty things if one needs a artistic outlet. My issue with art coils is that some new vapers seem to think they work better than a simple spaced or contact coil. I also think that Wishfull thinking has convinced some builders that appearance imparts some magic flavor properties to complex coils.
There are only two factors coil wise, well.. three if you count spittyness, that effect a vape. The ratio of how much juice is evaporated to how much hot air is produced by the coil.
I guess if you like a really hot vape a coil with 1/100 of the surface area in contact with the wick makes sense.
Personally I think the people making silly fancy coil wires should make vape jewelry. I'm sure there is a market for bracelets made from Kanthal and SS.
