DOn, as always nice write up now get to part 6

Kvetch, kvetch, kvetch! - Sally Field again, this time from Norma Rae. Considering how much you moderators are paying me for this opus (less than bupkis), be happy with what you get!;)

Thanks for the "always nice write up" comment though, my Lord Mage.

Wow... I have spent the last few hours (minus interruptions...I told those kids that if there isn't blood or vomit, I'm BUSY..but do they ever listen?:p) reading your thread and watching all of the videos, and I'm very impressed.

I've been at this a few months, and I've not completely climbed the mountain yet, but I'm going to get there. I'll be referring back to all this great info along the way.

You've saved plenty of newbies - not to mention a lot of us not-so-newbies - a lot of money and prevented a lot of frustration.

Well written and just enough humor to keep it entertaining.

Great job & thanks for all the time you and effort it must have taken putting this together!

You are very welcome, JustMeAgain! [Sorry for the delay in expressing this. I've had my nose to the grindstone of late.]

And thank you for all of your positive comments! It makes all that nose grindstoning worthwhile.

I really appreciate all the time you put into this:) It helped me make a decision on what to purchase next:) Wish I'd seen it when I first started:) Keep up the wonderful work:D

Fantastic guide Don, really well presented and well told. I'll also be passing on the link to this guide whenever anyone I come across has questions. Thanks for doing this, it must have taken quite a bit of time and effort!

Thank you both so much! Indeed it did take some time and effort. I'm pooped out.

After polishing off Part 5, it's nice to sit back and rest on laurels like these. ... Not for long though! [In case Sun or lordmage are listening in.]

Thanks again!

Don - awesome job! And I made sure to link to it in the FAQs thread, too.

Just a tiny correction on Part 5 - Nhaler .com also has samplers of his High Voltage liquids, which are only 12mg and custom flavors are made 100% in the USA. They only run US$0.60 per ml and he offers a 10% coupon code.

Thanks for all of your hard work - can't wait for Part 6!!

Thanks, kristin!:thumb: Corrections/additions have been made (with appropriate attribution). Not sure how you calculated $.60/ml. $4 / 6 ml = $.67/ml (according to my calculator).

Tracking down coupon codes is an exercise left to the student. I taught them how to fish (at the beginning of Part 4) and baited the hook for them (at the end of Part 5) ... it's up to them to do the trolling. [And it would not be appropriate for me to mention the coupon code for only one supplier.]

And thanks for all those nice things you said and for that link! [I do like that word 'awesome.':)]

MaryKay,

You said: "Ok, your laurels are rested! Up at at em!" Did Sun Vaporizer or lordmage pu you up to that? They're always nagging me! ;)

"I am waiting with bated breath for the last installmentment." Now *that* I can live with. Thanks!

"I want to hand these out at a charity function in Nov. If that is ok with the author!" Yes it is OK! Thanks for asking though. Actually, if you remove my singing and silliness, the WWV (as I refer to it) is basically an organized collage of the wisdom, videos, photos of others here on ECF. If you were to charge $ for those handouts, you'd have to pay royalties to hundreds of members. ;)

Thanks again, MK!

[If you just can’t decide, try the whiskey flavor. If you don’t like it, you can send it to me.:D]

LMAO @ Don

Wonderful series Don.....I send the link to everyone I know that wants to try vaping

Boo,

I'm just an old fart (uh oh, can you say "fart" on this forum?). What does "LMAO" mean? My guess is: "Laughing my ...* off at Don." If so, I'll just add that to all the things that make me feel so appreciative about your post (in addition to "wonderful" and "I send the link to everyone...."

* Yet another "Gee, can I use that word here?"

OR Does it mean you want my address so you can send me your whiskey e-liquid?;)

All kidding aside (for just a brief moment): Thank you! [There really should be a "sincere" emoticon.]

Don

P.S. "Boo" (the abbreviation I did of your screen name) reminds me (not of Halloween, but of To Kill a Mockingbird, one of the finest movies I've ever seen (based on a Pulitzer Prize winning book I've never read). <- Boy, isn't that off-topic!

And thanks also for the "You crack me up." It's only been recently, and on this forum, that (what passes for) my sense of humor, has been appreciated (by other than my wife).

That movie has many interweaving themes and strengths. One of them is the confrontation with racism by a down-to-earth hero (played by Gregory Peck, for which he won the Oscar) as seen through the eyes of the central character, Scout, a ~10-year-old girl. "Boo" was what she and her brother called their mentally ......ed neighbor (whom they found scary).

So, for me, I also associate "Boo" with childhood, although potato chips are not involved.

Don,

I hadn't commented as of yet on your fabulously written informational-

First I will start w/ kudos and acolades! I don't know why I didn't choose that "Sticky" as my very first read when I found this forum. I guess, as others, I had so many questions, I just wanted to blurt them out and get the short answer... (I am and always have been an instant gratification type)- LOL Which is another reason I can't wait for that chat to get back up and running-
Neither here nor there, When I first took the time to sit back and read your post, I had already purchased 2 units as well as some liquid and dealt with 5 different suppliers... I have had great transactions thus far but still haven't finished my initial purchase of supplies- Since I am looking to purchase more liquid, another unit, and parts- and in the meantime have been eagerly searching information on the various differences, I had to give your post a look-see.
By the time I ran over the post, you had already covered parts 1-5 and let me tell you, it was a long read- LOL Not a negative mind you, just so others know, reading this is very much like picking up a good back that pulls you in from the very beginning and it is impossible to put it down until you get to the end...
Which means, I feel very fortunate to being able to read all 5 parts w/o interruption- (Okay one night I did fall asleep and had to "bookmark" where to pick up the next day)
With your humor & anecdotes, pictures & videos, and links & suppliers, it makes the information very easy to take in and leaves us wanting more...(as I do now)
& here the kudos portion will end>>> Where is part 6??! LOL-
I am seriously joking on ending the kudos... but I am anxiously awaiting the last part to your sextet! I need more! I have learned even more information since reading through and also have had my interests peaked where they hadn't before.
A few questions I have are...
Is Spikey47 still around? She uses my model as her go to so I would be interested to get her take on a few things.
Can you possibly add a link to other manufacturers such as Smoore? Or a page where they are all listed? (I am going to pose a question on the supplier board to learn of others)
Can you add in who the suppliers are and what model they would be classified as(links or sites) for the unusual models... Unusual to me, maybe not others- But, in the mini group... The Sidesho, etc-and in the larger group... the Chuck, the Bullet, etc-
If it is there I missed it-
Again, love everything you have done so far- Still looking for closure... Can you help me out? How soon can we expect the last part?
Oh! & what will your next Informational cover... See, did ya catch that? You may have started something here> We are going to need an introduction on "something" when you are done w/ this one- You have set a standard here.

I printed off the 5 parts for my husband (even copying and pasting them into word with narrow margins, I think I ended up at 70+ pages). After skimming some of it, he came into the bedroom where I was watching TV and asked, "Is this a cult?" It cracked me up. He said it was because of all the terminonogy and how we would now be called "vapors" among other things.

He was just joking, but I did think it was funny. We are hoping that our kits arrive today. It's such a tease to have all your accessories and fluids arrive so much earlier than your kits! A friend purchased a PV several months ago, but only tried it a few times. She only used the carts that came with it and never tried any other fluid. We forgot about it until we found out my husband's parents had gone from analogs to vaping. Now that we are trying it out, our friend is going to give hers another try. We have vowed to bring them to our small local Pub where we drink at and use them together where we will have power in numbers. (I hate drawing attention to myself).

Yes, it is a cult ... and a cult has strict rules: the proper term for people who use e-cigs is "vapers" not "vapors"!;)

Needless to say (I hope) is that we folks who inhabit the halls of ECF (and do often refer to ourselves as vapers) are anything but a cult. We come from all walks of life, all ages, genders, nationalities, and political and religious affiliations. Some have tattoos, some don't (see my poll in the General Discusson forum). We have but one thing in common: we use (and, perhaps, are passionate about) personal vaporizers ... period.

On average, we probably are less conventional than most, willing to be early adopters of these gadgets (and the liquids we put in them) and to respond to people coming up to us, asking: "What is that wierd thing sticking out of your mouth?" Although some of us would rather not open ourselves to that solo (e.g., in pubs).:) [To reassure you, virtually all people who have commented on my vaping in public are simply curious, even fascinated. The only exceptions are the virulent anti-smokers (who don't have sufficient imagination to realize - or willingness to become enlightened - that PG/VG vapor is not smoke).]

Vaping is unique and quite new, so the industry and we users are creating new terminology for it ... and to distinguish e-cig vaping from yucky pooey analog smoking. ['analog' is widely used in the vaping community; 'yucky pooey' is my own term.:D] And we are under siege, e.g., by FDA and ASH and those who meekly bow to their pressures (are you listening, PayPal and Ebay?). So sometimes there is some stridency to our dialogue. That, I suppose, is "cult"-like. No mass kool aid ingestion yet, though.

When your kits do arrive, it is my wish that you come to enjoy vaping even half as much as I. And I love it:p ... why else would I be spending eons on that illustrated guide thing? For the money?:(

Oh! BTW, thank you for the compliment implicit in your copying and pasting those 70+ pages! [I am rather long-winded:oops:, aren't I?]

Whew! Let's see if I can address Luv2CUSmile's issues piece by piece. And I'll just be quoting the portions requiring a response.

Don,

I hadn't commented as of yet on your fabulously written informational-

First I will start w/ kudos and acolades! ... reading this is very much like picking up a good back that pulls you in from the very beginning and it is impossible to put it down until you get to the end ... With your humor & anecdotes, pictures & videos, and links & suppliers, it makes the information very easy to take in and leaves us wanting more...(as I do now)

I am overwhelmed. Thank you for that effusive praise! Of all your positive comments, my personal favorite was the good book analogy. [I have taken the liberty of assuming that by "good back" you meant "good book." For a 63-year-old, my back is in adequate shape, but it is not good by athletic standards.]

Where is part 6??! ... I am anxiously awaiting the last part to your sextet! I need more!

Nag, nag, nag!;) Seriously, I respect your frustration and appreciate the additional compliment implicit in it. The past couple weeks (continuing through this week), I've been busy earning a living. [It doesn't happen often.] I've had just enough time and energy left to do some relaxed posting on the forum, but not enought to dive into Part 6. It won't be that much longer though.

Is Spikey47 still around? She uses my model as her go to so I would be interested to get her take on a few things.

I've heard that she has started her own forum. Search the Internet for Vapers F... [It is my understanding that a direct link to it is verboten. Don't ask me why, cause I don't know.]

Can you possibly add a link to other manufacturers such as Smoore? Or a page where they are all listed? (I am going to pose a question on the supplier board to learn of others)

I don't intend to do that. My goal has been to get people started. There's enough there (perhaps more than enough:oops:) for someone who justs wants to replace analogs with a decent, cost-effective e-cig (and juice or carts to put in it) and get on with his/her life. Enthusiasts will want to do their own investigating (and I think that I - and myriad other ECF members - have provided plenty of initial leads for that). The Smoore website is here.

Can you add in who the suppliers are and what model they would be classified as(links or sites) for the unusual models... Unusual to me, maybe not others- But, in the mini group... The Sidesho, etc-and in the larger group... the Chuck, the Bullet, etc-
If it is there I missed it-

Short answer: No. Slightly longer answer: See my response to your manufacturers list request.

Also (for the "larger group"): I twice linked to and highly recommended this article, which, to quote myself from Part 5 (emphases added now):
...shows pictures and describes in detail virtually all of the current hybrids – including links to the relevant supplier (there’s usually only one per model). Please read nothing into my not going into more detail about the hybrids. That article has done it for me.
And, in Part 5, I supplemented that article with information, photos, and links to the Chuck and Protege, which were not included in that article.

Again, love everything you have done so far- Still looking for closure... Can you help me out? How soon can we expect the last part?

I answered this one toward the beginning of this post.

Oh! & what will your next Informational cover... See, did ya catch that?

I will be writing some reviews of NHaler products.

You may have started something here> We are going to need an introduction on "something" when you are done w/ this one- You have set a standard here.
~Luv

Thank you for that compliment about setting a standard.

Don,
Thx so very much! & Yes, I did mean "book"... glad to know that your back is still working well for you-

Thx for the reiteration on the "larger guys"- I will go back and see what I may have missed- These type really confuse me as I do not find them attractive per se so I had not given much research to these in my browsings but, in looking for a "stronger" unit for my hubby- I am still partial to mine (the Dragon) and he seems to be as well since he is always taking it, I thought if I gave him more information he may be intrigued by one of the "mod" type-

Also, thx- I guess I understand the concept of your write up... Giving enough information to get "us" started- I am looking to figure out which units are similar to which and figured if I could find which company manufacturs what, etc- This would enable me to find other units that were compatible as well as quality of said units... Yes, you as well as many other who frequesnt the boards have given loads of leads to find more of the info I am looking for- Didn't think I was becoming an enthusiast- but then again, along w/ instant gratification I am also somewhat of a perfectionist- (somewhat* as everyone knows by my errors in the previous post, I still have some work to do)

I am looking forward to part 6 and can't wait to read a few reviews of the Nhaler products- I have not ordered from them yet but have heard good things.

*PS- Don't work too hard! Wait, maybe you should... Wouldn't want ya to become a starving artist... LOL- I am sure your wife would not like us anymore if we expected every waking hour to be dedicated to the ECF.

I never noticed this discussion thread before. So now I'm taking a moment to say "Thanks, Don." Your guide has been extremely useful. Until I read your guide I had no idea which E-cig my friend had given my girlfriend, which was distressing as it it has been the first one either of us have liked. I was drowning in information, none of it useful, until I stumbled upon your guide. Two people sharing the contents of starter kit is not all that fun, and I didn't want to order at random since I know there's at least three models I don't like. Your guide has saved me alot of headache, and I learned a few useful things.

You're welcome, McWhat ... and thank you for expressing your appreciation!

So what *is* this e-cig that you and your girlfriend are sharing (and enjoying)?

The Joye 510 actually. It didn't work out as a portable hookah as my friend hoped, and despite the button it makes a good cigarette substitute. Or maybe it's the button that makes it so good. Since I've been smoking American Spirits for the last 7 years, it made sense to buy it by the can and roll my own. So filling carts is actually less mess and hassle.
