They really screw ya if you don't DIY juice.

If you are selling e-juice, fixing cars, or driving a truck for a living, you may be doing it because you enjoy it but you are also doing it to provide a living for your family. It costs money to live. It is no surprise that there is a 50-300% mark up on products to cover overhead of facilities and supplies, and employee wages and benefits. To think the mark up is unfair is ridiculous. If a vendor is grossly over priced, the market will correct itself... people will buy elsewhere.

How do you avoid these costs? Bargain shop or DIY, period. It's not meant as an insult. Discuss the best places to shop or DIY, to complain about the prices does nothing but create wasted noise or in some cases, it informs others of overpriced vendors.

That sounds fair. Question, have you ever bought popcorn at a movie theatre? :pop: My point is, once again, some people waste or spend on things that others would balk at. Personally, as I have stated, I think juice that can easily be made, SHOULD be DIYed; it's just that to think all juices fit in that category is incorrect (not saying that you explicitly said that). Hey, I think it's awesome that you saved all that money. Personally, I spend money on that which I feel is worth it and don't with what I don't.

To be fair, and this applies to the juice, the plumbing, the car needing to be fixed etc... Some people value not having to DIY either due to lack of know how, or lack of time or equipment. It's not wrong to pay someone to do what you aren't willing or able to do for yourself, and there's nothing wrong with DIY.

I have DIYed and it was fine, but no better than DIY juice; and as stated, I don't like simple DIY juice. Okay, how about a challenge (since I think you are missing the point): let's throw a juice at'cha and a sample, if you can DIY it, I will buy it from you at the same price as I pay now. Devil Dog! - Premium E-Liquid I'll even give you a tip on how to extract the tobacco. First, you're going to need CO2 capabilities for pressurized extraction of the tobacco. You will have to find the tobaccos on your own.

Or maybe you can DIY some WTA? It generally only takes a scientist/chemist or PhD specializing in that area. Do most DIYers work with acids??

No one here is saying there's anything wrong with DIY, far from it. Some were implying there's something wrong with not DIYing.

I think, in all fairness to hardcore DIYers (even the best ones), they may have started out with run-of-the-mill vendors or never got a chance to sample the type of juices that they could never, ever, eva replicate (or maybe they don't wish to, and the whole point is that they are doing fine on their own?) I know plenty of DIYers and have received some of their juice, as previously stated, but when it comes to that good ish, man, you got to pay! I have in my possession some DIY Halo Prime 15 and guess what, it is an exact replica! But, the point is, it is a replica of Halo!

eHuman,

I'll admit it, I am not being fair to you and for that, I relent. I admire you for what you do and your self-sufficiency. I admire others for their sticktoitiveness in finding juices in classes of their own. It all depends on how you like to approach this, not all things, but THIS!

Hell, I would probably have 10 more mods if I din't buy the juice that I buy, but then again, I only have one mouth.

LOL, As a matter of fact I specialized for 15 years in building, operating and maintaining custom chemical blenders and generators that produced some very toxic and harsh exotic chemicals. Have a patent on a pretty novel technology that made my company (not me) millions in profit. I didn't work in a lab as a norm, but have spent much time there and have hand poured up countless volumes of some things you literally can't afford to get one drop on you, or inhale the fumes from. As a result I am very comfortable working with nicotine concentrates.

I am able to mix components with more accuracy than anyone here is able to detect. Out senses just aren't that advanced. But when it comes down to it, my favorite juices are very simply recipes, and I don't have to employ any of that experience to create them. There are probably some damn good tasting juices out there that I have not had the pleasure of sampling due to being disabled and out of work . I'm just really glad that I don't have to "put up" with the juices that I used to buy, and no longer have a huge box of flavors that I have more than confirmed taste nasty to me.

I think I am the exception though, I hate most juices that most other people rave over. You may very well laugh at my daily vape, either mango or strawberry mixed with cinnamon-red-hots, or one of various fruit cocktail mixes I do. People likely would not pay me for them lol.

Working with what you have worked with, then putting that knowledge into tobaccos for WTA, not nicotine pre-extracted, I doubt the cost would be much different form vendors WTA. I had a nagging suspicion that you were going to respond with a post like this--that's how it works, if you call some one out, they generally have an answer. LOL. But, in this context, you may be abe to do it faster than most, but you would still have to dedicate mucho, mucho time and money to get it done. My point is simply that not all juices are able to be replicated and whether or not you know how (though few do), I bet, and am willing to, that your cost will have jumped exponentially to the simple stuff. Once again, I admire you for your self-sufficiency, but I will stick to the professionals in this particular field. Hey, maybe you should become a pro at this, after all, some DIYers started out posting just like you and next thing you know, everyone wants Pluid. LOL

Problem is I have zero desire to even look into it. I don't like tobacco flavors I only mix for my wife and myself. I have a feeling that it would have to be done on a greater scale than I would want to play with in order to see any real value, though I may be wrong.

My personal benefit is that (thought they are likely out there) I hadn't found any store bought juice I liked, therefore have never attempted to reproduce anyone's recipe. That is a venture that is easier said than done without being able to laboratory analyze the exact components and ratios. You can get close by taste on some things I imagine, but others would remain as elusive as unicorns, flavor is not exact, it is subjective. Few people can detect all components in a juice or a food, not to mention their ratios.

I don't think I have the patience to even consider reverse engineering someones recipe. It's a lot of work.

See, this paragraph is also what I was getting at. I remember there was a time when I wanted to give up because I had a plethora of NASTINESS! Boy, I mean I had practically nothing but vendor after vendor of, what seemed to be, the most adhoc creations that amounted to a declining bank account and nothing but funky liquid and plastic bottles to show for it. I think at that time I was in the mood for DIY, but then I found Halo. Oh, the irony is incredible. haha

So since it only costs you $4 per 30 ml, you're going to give us the ECF homie hookup and charge $6 shipped right? =)

I may since you've already marked up my price lol,
$1.95 per 30 mil bottle which lasts both my wife and I exactly 7 days
is what it runs me. Being out of work, I wonder how much I'd have to make and sell to make it worth my while?

There's always room for another Boba's Bounty out there. A really good RY4 would probably sell well. If you can create something great that no one else has thought of or been able to concoct, then the vaping world will wear out your web page with orders.

Yeah, short of having GC-MS capabilities (which my vendor has), a reverse engineering endeavor is likely a waste of a lot of time and money. But, like DaveP suggested, it shouldn't be about replicating juices for DIYers as much as creating your own. I am an artist and do not buy art, I make it. Sure, I will never be able to own or replicate a Rembrandt (well, maybe I can! ;) DaveP), but the point is that I can create wonders on my own. But, my work is all over my studio, so I guess I don't get why people pay the money to adorn their houses with paintings that they could make on their own. Now, don't get me wrong, if you want my work, you will have to pay!!!
