okay, so after about 3.5 years of zero cigarettes, I fell off the wagon last December. Stress, life, my ... attitude...
But I really want to kick them to the curb again. At least I didn’t get back to that 2 pad habit. But I’m still smoking 4-5 a day. Was a bit more, but I’m trying as hard as I can to cut back.

I haven’t been an active member since my husband got sick, so somewhere around mid 2014. And so much has changed. I feel almost like I’m starting all over.

Used to be, sub ohm was .5 ohms. I don’t recall seeing anything lower. And juice for same was 3 mg/ml, as vg as you could get it, which was almost never 100% because most flavors came vg based.

Now I’m seeing pg up to 30% and nic At 6 mg/ml for sub ohm. Or am I missing something?

I know I need to up my nic because I’m not getting what I need or I would’nt be smoking.

And I don’t have any confusion about adjusting juice for my mtl tanks. But I am keeping the dl tanks in rotation because they seem more effective for serious cravings.

So please tell me if this 6 mg nic is okay or what. I don’t want to mix up a bunch of juice only to find it’s not going to work.

Oh, and in case it matters, I’m using 6 mtl ( but I’ll be going up to 9) and 3 dL. I don’t have any sensitivity to any ingredients so far, and I started vaping 4.5 years ago at 24 mg/ml.

Thank!

Just start slow with the DL to see where the nic level is for you. I think that 6ml mg is a guide line as most people cannnot handle this mg doing sub-ohm but that doesn't mean you can't. You need to have levels that work for you. There is no set wrong or right way. It is just better to mix 1 or 2 recipes at a higher level to see if that works for you, then proceed to mix more as you see fit.

At 3 I cant even feel it. I’m using about 5 mls of 6 mg, and last week added about 3 mls of 3 mg per day, and it’s just not enough. And I don’t want to keep vaping more and more juice to get my fix.

And for your mtl set up, 9 might be a bit low. Like you , I started with 24mg about 7 years ago and still do 24mg, but until you get back into the groove, maybe 12 might keep you off the cigs. You need to use the highest you can handle so you don't think about the smokes.

Well you aren't smoking a ton, so it may be tempting to go too low on your nic level, especially since equipment and everything has changed. You've vaped before, but I think the whole "quitting" thing is probably just as stressful and "new" feeling as it was before. I'd say you have room to increase your nicotine and if you are worried about juice consumption, raising your nicotine levels could help with that. It is very individual so you may have to experiment a bit .For example, 6 could be too much, while 5.4 mg/ml for DL may be just right (for you). I think the idea of a high and 0 strength liquid of the same flavor may well be your best bet as far as figuring out what is "right" for you.

When vaping MTL a lot of the same thing applies. I wouldn't be fearful of trying say, 12 mg/ml or even higher for stressful moments, but you will need to keep track of how your are feeling w/r/t nicotine levels as you detox.

WTA (Whole tobacco alkaloid) juices really helped me in the beginning. I was a 3 ppd smoker though. I still had to go through detox like everyone else, and getting some of those "alkaloids" in tobacco that I was detoxing from certainly made it... easier. Not pleasant, but easier.

I've tried vaping in the past, and even quit for 6 weeks with my first vape, but it didn't stick, and then I dual used sort of intermittently before finally realizing that my smoking habit was going to give me the dreaded COPD dx if I didn't stop (had pneumonia pretty much 18 months straight before finally deciding to vape) and so decided to try again.

I didn't know a ton about vaping so ECF was incredibly helpful and welcoming and I'm not sure I would have met with success without this forum, so I will say WELCOME BACK, and I'm glad you are starting again.

I .pretty much had to wipe any "former attempts" at quitting (including things other than vaping and they were MANY) and approach the quit this time as "MY" quit, period. It helped.

I wish you all the success in the world. Cigarettes are sneaky, sometimes quitting "fewer" can be as hard as wiping out a 3 ppd habit (cigarettes really weren't enjoyable any more, and I KNEW they were killing me) so I am here to say: You can do it! And I hope you meet with success.... :)

Totally understandable....that is why I was suggesting upping your nic strength to where the cravings are satisified.

Well, I figure if I quit 2 pad before, I know I can kick four-five a day. I never stopped vaping, but I did stop buying new tanks and mods. I was happy with my little istick 20 watts with K1s. For a long time anyway.

I was diagnosed with mild emphysema a few years ago, and my husband died of lung cancer just a year after we both started vaping and quit smoking. But even if not for my own health, but in his memory, I gotta quit and stay quit! And I will.

Oh, and great idea on the zero nic! I actually had some made up, so I just mixed some 12 too same flavor. Thanks for that!

Go as high as you can tolerate with your nic. I dtl 8mg and my cousin dtl 15mg. If it were me I'd make some 15ml testers at 15mg, 12mg, 9mg, and 6mg. Between those you can play around and find your sweet spot for both styles of vaping. Overthinking it will just lead to more stress and stronger cravings. If the higher nic doesn't help then look into other options. I found for me keeping it simple made it easier to give up the last few smokes.

Since it sounds like you DIY your juice, I would like to add to what Letitia said. Since nic base can get "peppery" as you increase the % in your juice, IF you max out your tolerance for it but still don't feel like it is enough, you can mix in "nic salts" to go even higher. I get my nic salts from NicotineRiver.com.

For instance my wife can't tolerate more than about 3mg nic base in her juice before it starts making her cough, but she needed more to actually quit smoking. So we started making hers with 6mg but using 3 from nic base and 3 from salts. That was better but she still felt like she was missing something. That was when we started adding the previously mentioned WTA. So now she is using 6mg but getting 2mg from base, 2 from salts, and 2 from WTA nic. Since I got the recipe right, she has been able to quit easily and with very few cravings.

I did forget to mention I use salts now. Wasn't mixing when I finally gave up smoking and salts weren't a thing yet.

Just wanted to chime in with a Good Luck and a good on ya ;)
Trick your brain into thinking its still smoking by just delaying when you have a cigarette. Vape your head off, tell yourself you will 'smoke' in two hours if you still want one - and then delay that smoke as well.

Hopefully your brain will be as easy to trick as mine was :D

When it comes to my Nic Level generally I adjust to the Ohm of the coils I plan on using and I swap back and forth all the time and this seems to stop my throat from getting shredded and keeps me satisfied nic wise...

    1.2ohm 12mg......
    1.0ohm 10mg.....
    0.8ohm 8mg......
    0.6ohm 6mg.....
    0.4ohm 4mg....
    0.3ohm 3mg...
    0.2ohm 2mg..
    0.15ohm 1.5mg.

I'm pretty lazy though and just stick to 4.1mg for most of my setups.

Sympathies, DeloresRose, your story is very much like mine. We just have to keep trying, even if we stumble...
