When I first started vaping I got horrible itchy rashes on my legs and generally bad feeling from PG allergy. You can google it, I'm not the only one. The problem is that they put PG in many different products, so when you introduce the levels you take in from vaping it can quickly accumulate in the body, causing sensitivity and allergy issues for some.

I switched to 100% VG and have never looked back. That's my testimonial :2c:

Check out: The safety of vegetable glycerin (VG) when inhaled through an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette). Studies on the effect of the inhalation of vegetable glycerin through a personal vaporizer.
And if you really think it's the flavorings, you can get 100% VG juices from quality vendors who make organic juices, such as Velvet Cloud Vapor, among others.

Hope you find what works for you!

Wait!!!!! Don't give up yet!!! ^^^^^^^^^

Anyone notice the OP never stated Nic level?

VG can cause heavy feeling in the chest in high amounts. Some it never bothers while others feel the temporary pressure increase.

Nicotine can cause this also, along with increased lower tightness and Blood shot eyes. Does not matter if it is from smoking or vaping.

Op seems to have made a final assumption and decision before ever posting so this could all be someone just blowing smoke.

Did you even discuss vaping with the doctor? What nicotine level are you using? Since you think it’s an allergy, did you try Benadryl and see if your symptoms decreased or went away? Just because your body disagrees with something doesn’t mean it’s an allergy. Seriously, you only tried one juice and threw in the towel? You made one post at one week in and this one saying you’re going back to cancer sticks. Why don’t you just ask for help? These guys are really good at working out solutions. Honest.

Ah, here is your first post http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/479073-one-week.html

These people want to help you if you’d just give them a chance. :)

I'm glad this question was raised. I'd really like to know if we can be allergic to the pg or VG or flavorings. If so, what can we do to avoid it?
A lot of people say they are allergic to smoking, but it's actually impossible to be, because there are no proteins in it. It is an irritant that triggers our allergic reactions to something else. Do vaping ingredients have protein? Maybe I don't quite understand allergies (doh).
I know when I walk into the hay shed built out of stiff foam insulation, my chest tightens. Yet, I don't think there is a protein there either. Lots of mice & hay though lol. But I never tightened before the insulated walls went up.
I realize there are sensitivities with either one or certain Flavors, that needs to be ruled out one by one.
What causes the sensitivities? Or allergies?
I need a lab doc on call lol

yes it is possible to have a sensitivity to ingredients in Vape...I myself found high VG to be a problem...and had a sneezing problem from 1 flavor from my favorite vendor...I loved the flavor but every time I vaped it I sneezed like crazy.
the sore throat problem is most likely related to dehydration increase your water consumption and you will see it decrease.

Could also be that the nicotine is a bit too high. When I vape above my nic level, it leaves me feeling like I have chemical burns on my tongue & throat.

Drink lots of fluids! Lower your nic level if you're still feeling burned! :)

The best way to be 100% sure is try some DIY. Myfreedomsmokes sells everything you need to find out what you have a reaction too. Get some vg, pg and nic base. One nic in all pg and one all vg. First try vg no nic no flavor. Move to pg again no nic no flavor. If you don't have any problems then try 50/50 with the same nic level you were at when you had an issue. If no problems its a flavoring if you notice problems its too high nic and you should bring it down a bit.

I actually did this to my husband recently without him really knowing. He swore he could not take pg but no matter what he hacked and coughed ect. I told him his nic was most likely too high but he would not believe me. Well I was confident the flavoring i use wasn't the problem so while working out some new recipes i filled a clearlo and had him vape my creations to "help test them out" Some all vg exept up to 10% flavor others all pg. he never had a problem so afterhe had the 100%pg i confronted him and said he had been vaping all pg no nic and the high 36 mg he swore he needed was too much. Through a bit more trial he is at 8-12 mg and satisfied because he can get the nic without hacking. And yes it took almost 3 years before i had enough and pulled this experiment on him and he is now analog free.

My nic level is 12mg/ml. I was vaping roughly 3-4 ml a day.

I don't think a nic OD is the culprit because yesterday I took maybe 10-12 puffs and began having all the chest pain and bloodshot eyes.

I would like to find out what is causing the allergy -- whether it be PG, VG or flavorings. I think I am going to run down to my local pharmacy and buy a bottle of 100% VG (USP) and see what happens when I vape it.

My own "chemical burn" feeling does not come from OD or vaping large quantities, just the ratio of nic to juice.

I'm not saying the nicotine level is definitely the issue, just suggesting that it might still be on the table as something to consider. :)
