Hey all,
Im thinking of buying a reo, but i have a few questions first...

I really love the small size of the 2.1 but im worried about the battery getting me through my work day( got an mvp v2 a couple weeks ago and the batterys great, i usually get 2 days between charges, but its not as good of a vape as i thought it would be and its freakin HUGE)

I was also wondering what(cheaper) rbas are on the smaller side that would fit the 2.1(im a complete newb with rbas)

Thanks! Any help is appreciated.. Ecf for life dawgs! :p

Only a grand gets me thru a work day. It takes bigger batteries, but it's really not that much bigger than a mini.

You also have the option to use lower resistance coils on one, because the bigger batteries can handle them. If you're set on a mini, then by all means go right on, but if it's a workhorse and versatile mod you're after, the grand will serve you better.

My recommendation for an RBA is the RM2 (Reomizer 2), because it's easy to build.

In order to deflect a huge barrage of info scattered in a storm, leaving more confused than you entered... It would be helpful to know how you currently vape (or would like to), and if you think that your current Vape style may change with a better setup. For example, what resistance or wattages would like to Vape? What kind of battery life do you need out of your PV? How do you like to inhale? ... Answers to questions likes these will help us steer you to the mod and rda that is more right for you.

A Grand will allow you to build however you want with the proper batteries. I build mine at .37. A low profile Reo leaves you open to other atomizers. I use a Trident V2.

A mini limits you to probably .8 ohms or so. Battery life will be lacking, but it's a nice, compact size. A grand is about the same size an an MVP, but the 510 is recessed into the device, whereas the MVP makes everything bigger because it has the ego connection sticking up. The choice is yours

An MVP v2 will fire 1Ω coils, but it also has an Amp limit so you will not be able to adjust up the power. The lowest coils you can do that with, on that device is 1.3Ω, so it's safe to say that's the resistance range we're talking about.

The real question is, if you see yourself in future using lower coils - bear in mind Reos are mechanicals and that's the only way to get the vape you want - will you outgrow a mini and be better served by a grand?

You might want to have a look at this thread too - to get an idea.

Well i definately need a workhorse....

Im vaping on my mvp with 1.8 ohm aspire bdc/ bvc clearos at 3.3- 3.7 volts. I usually pull the vapor into my mouth and then inhale( all wrong i know, but its how i used to smoke cigs) I work construction(pipefitter) 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week so long battery life is a must

Good point SuperT, didn't think of that about the MVP.

To fish cakes: I think all that is pointing directly to a grand. Make it a low profile grand and it will grow with you if find you like lower ohms. A low profile reomizer (RM2 for LP grand) to go with that also sounds right up your alley - easy to build on small, great mouth to lung draw, fantastic flavor, considered the gold standard for REOs. I think you'll be most satisfied with the grand because of the longer battery life out of 18650s. Its definitely the workhorse of the crew.

Getting into mechanicals and RDAs in general, you will need 18650 batteries for the grand (AW IMR 1600 mah are the recommended ones), battery charger, digital multimeter OR a cartometer for measuring resistance, kanthal resistance wire - 29 or 30 gauge is a good starting point, wicking material such as organic cotton or readyxwick, and something to wrap coils on such as a 1/16 drill bit.

Anyone feel free to add to that general list for RDAs if I've forgotten something pertinent.

What you described as your vaping inhale style is often referred to as "mouth to lung" inhaling, as opposed to "direct lung" inhaling, which is how most people inhale hookah (the vapor/smoke is not first collected in the mouth).

That can make a difference in the type of atomizer you'd find comfortable. Based on your stated inhalation preference, the RM2 recommended by supertrunker would be a fine, fine choice. Most all of us have used them and they are an excellent platform to start building coils on - nice sized deck to work with, ceramic base to help avoid shorts, and they are stellar at producing pleasant, very flavourful vapor. A coil built in the ohm range you're comfortable with would work well in one.

As for the reo itself, the grand would prolly fit your use best. It's surprisingly compact despite being the larger size, but the larger batteries used with it would get you your all day usage. The MVP bat is 2600 mah, and given you get 2 days-ish out of a charge, the 18650 bats of the grand are generally all more than half that (some are even >2000 mah), so you should be good, especially with coils >1.2ohms.

One recommendation would be to go for the Low Profile (LP) model of reo, which is a newer design that allows a greater range of atomizers to be used with it. It's an available option with both the mini 2.1 and the grand.

Other than that, you're biggest concern is going to be "which colour/finish combination best expresses 'me' as a reonaut?" (followed by "which combination should I get for my second reo?", which happens a lot... like, really, really, a lot)
