Hi all,

Been a lurker for just over a month and sort of feel into vaping by accident. Bought a new car and swore I wasn't going to smoke in it so I was using the disposable Blu e-cigarettes when driving. They were "meh" at best. Still lit up whenever I got to where I was going. I happen to frequent other forums and came across a post where a member said he quit using a Tornado RCS from Totally Wicked and thought well why not, I'll give it a shot. The kit worked okay but it sparked my interest and a Google search later I found this place. And things... well escalated rather quickly.

The Tornado was replaced by an MVP2 which was soon backed up by an Itaste 3. Then I figured well I need something with replaceable batteries in case the FDA got really stupid so I started lurking in the Provari and Red sub forums. Dammit, that was dumb and as of today I'm now an owner of a Provari.

But I digress, for all the experienced vapers there is an end at some point right? At some point this hobby will become cheaper than smoking right? At some point I'll be able to browse this forum and tell myself I don't "need" another mod or look at something and think OMG I need to have that.

I guess one positive outcome is I haven't had an analog in over a month... 1-2 PAD American Spirit habit to nothing in four days... I never thought it would happen but it did.

Also, this has to be the "nicest" forum I have ever found. People here are awesome!

I spent like crazy on vape gear for first year, and I had a great time doing it and found what really worked for me. Now, my monthly vape expenses are about $100, and they would be less but I still do buy the occasional "extra". Compare that to ~$250 a month I was spending on cigarettes each month, and I'm coming out ahead.

I guess it could go either way, depending on how things evolve for you. If you look at some of the photos of people's collections on this forum, you see a lot of money sunk into it! But that's more for the "hobbyist." If you're purely trying to replace cigarettes and quickly find something you want to stick with, then I assume the cost would be low once you have your equipment needs. I'm a noob myself, and the area I'm splurging in is juice. I have no less than 22 different flavors two weeks in, and my greatest joy at this point is switching out flavors all day long. LOL. I hope to settle down to a favorite few eventually -- but I don't think I'll ever have just one or two. I'm already thinking of upgrading to some kind of mod, but I'll wait a bit for that. :D

I think starting up is the most expensive part. Over the month I have been vaping my expenses have been high, but I think I can now see how it will start saving me. I finally found batteries that I'm sure I will be happy with for the next few months. For me I started out with a small starter kit from a local vape shop and finally moved to VV batteries. Currently I'm sitting happily with a Spinner and itaste v3. Juice was my next biggest expense as I moved through the experimenting phase, I'm beginning to settle on flavors that I like that on my next order I will get bigger bottles to save on costs. I think all that is left for me is to get the amount of tanks to cover the flavors I like to vape often.

Okay so did I say I can see the light at the end of the tunnel? erm... okay.. not so much yet. Ask me again in a few months! But I will have to say, costs for health and not smoking... priceless. So all good here!

Hi Taki, Yes if you choose to, Vaping can be very inexpensive....... My Only original goal when I began vaping was to get off of cigarettes. I allowed myself to spend only as much as when I was smoking...... I smoked two to two and a half packs of "name brand" cigs per day...... so needless to say the first long while was spent trying different liquids, then away from atomizers to the "t" tank systems, then to ce2, then to cartos and on ...then I built a few VV mods..... In all the whole exercise continued to get less and less out of pocket expense. I now have a few mods that I use in rotation, I have long since moved to making my own liquids, and I average less than $30 per month in consumable supplies.

Keep in mind as you are just getting started you will buy things to try them out, if you like them you will(or shoud) stock up on the things that you like, some of the things you buy you will not like, and it will basically get put aside to be used "in case of emergencies" which just means only if I have to use this....... Eventually you will become settled into what Your vape is and will have a good idea of what you will and will not like long before you click the "add to cart" button.

Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

well it appears for some it does get cheaper...and for others it doesnt. I am at the point where I have found my sweet spot on equipment and juices. I have a 2 month stockpile of my favorite and can go down to maintenance... Others however get into the whole hobby aspect.
I will break even in 1 week and be saving the next week. The friend who got me started broke even week 3, still using the same knockoff evod a CE4 and only uses a brick and mortar menthol...she is now ahead well over $1100 in less than 6 months(she spends $28 a month on new juice and tank replacements)

Yeah gets cheaper, start DIY juice now, and save some great cash. Welcome to Cub Provari! by the way. The Provari was my choice when I upgraded from an ego battery.

Just don't look at the Innokin VTR! Just don't do it, It's a sexy smart box mod VV & VW, that is now available, takes a 18650 battery. Just don't look at it. But suggest it as a possible Xmas present if asked. lmao.

Oh, Yeah, sure it does, it does get cheaper, well at least the VTR is cheaper than the Provari!! lmao, but then, we aren't going to look at that anyways, are we?

Oh, forgot to mention, what atty are you sporting? Gone rba yet? Made that Provari put out yet? Can get a really high quality rba and make the P shine, then save even more money by building you own coils! Just saying. lmao

Subliminal messaging!!!! Did the math I've saved about 200 so far in a month on my second round of vaping but when you wouldn't of had that 200 to begin with it makes a huge Difference :). Hide you money from yourself lock away the debit cards for awhile youll be aright

If it will get cheaper depends upon your ability to be satisfied, sounds to me like vaping has already sunk its claws in petty deep. Personally I have a bit more to spend on hardware, then it will be just small upgrades here and there. But DIY stuff has been a bit of an investment for me as well. Still cheaper than analogs though.

Hi Taki, Yes if you choose to, Vaping can be very inexpensive.......

I spent $$ trying to find sweet spot w/juice and a PV I like.

In maintenance mode, I can vape for about $10.00 a month. (DIY and delivery device I use). If adding in some vendor juice here and there, and replacement of DOA or non-working delivery device items, probably about $30 a month.

Well..................I placed 5 orders in the last week, so I guess I'm no help:laugh:

I think I've placed somewhere between 12-15 orders in the past week. I don't even want to think about how much I spent. I am very well stocked up though I could probably not buy anything for about a year and a half and have everything I need to vape all day everyday.

Update - Checked my bank transactions 18 orders and almost $900
