I was reading (for the what seems like 1000th time) a thread about the Provari and how much it cost or is worth..sigh.. The one I am reading currently is here - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/apv-discussion/427125-why-provari.html
Here is my question - What (or better yet) how do you come to a conclusion about what something cost?
Is it the just the asking/ initial price of the item? Status? Sustainability?..<fill in blank>
Random thought (opinions)..
When I was younger and money was the over-riding factor in everything (it still is..just to a lesser degree now that I am an old man
)..everything I purchased for the most part was based on purchase price and that alone. As I have gotten older, the paradigm for assessing cost has changed for me. I guess as I get older - Time and decreasing aggravation are much more valuable to me.
I have two Provari Minis, and EA Mod, a Legacy, a K100, a Vamo, an eVic and a Lavatube. - I tend to take pretty good care of them - although I have dropped the provaris a couple of times - This is all over the past 16 months. To date: The Vamo's button is inconsistent and wont read ohms properly and sometimes wont fire at all, The eVic's head keeps popping off if it gently falls over on my desk.. The Lavatube's floating pin wont fire some devices without an adaptor and then at times wont fire even those.. total crap shoot without the adaptor.
The mech mods are all rock solid..not much to go wrong there (though they tend to stay at home with the Gennys on them) - The VV/VW mods are the out and about workhorse devices.. The Provari's fire everyday, all the time with everything/anything on them (excluding SLR RBAs)..the other ones.. I am afraid to take with me (even as back ups) for fear of failure at any time..
Which ones cost more?..assuming I did not have the provaris and needed to have a working device all the time..
I am genuinely interested in your opinions - I am not China bashing by the way - I have and use many products manufactured in China - I have business dealings with the Chinese manufacturing sector daily.. There are some very, very good and well made products and items that bear the marking "made in China".
My conclusion for some time now has been that If I want something NOW, cheap and I am prepared to replace it instead of repair it within 18-24 months - China all day. If I want something long term, I want it to be repairable, if service after the sale is a necessary or desirable component with it, need to look elsewhere..
what are your thoughts - look forward to hearing from some of you
