Oh my, here we go again.

Urban Legend - No

Careless or uninformed users - Yes

Much lower failure rate than Laptop batteries or Cell phones - both of which are often in Body contact or proximity.

Annual Wrecks by careless driving?
Annual Riding mower accidents?
Loss of life from a single downed commercial aircraft?

I wonder how far down the list mod dangers really are?
I read the other day that 200 people a year die due to peanuts.

Vaping is safer than peanuts![emoji52]

I just tell them that I like the taste of dc current, and I have the right to blow my own face off.
BTW I don't care for most people anyway.
Just something about picturing that coming from a guy in a wheelchair has me pissing myself laughing.

You would be surprised what I can say and do in public and nobody says anything.
I do like to mess with people's minds

When I was younger, my step mother drug me out to wally world to pick up a few things. The place was a Christmas shopping frenzy. We were only trying to be in and out.

So she quickly scooted into a handicapped parking spot.

When she did, this car stopped and waited for us to get out.

When we got out, the older man in the car started lecturing and cussing up a storm about people taking advantage of spots dedicated for the handicapped.

So she reached down, hiked her skirt up just a tad, pressed the button and instantly removed her prosthetic leg.

Then began hollering back and swinging it at him.[emoji38]
You brought me back a bit. :D

Classic!
I think they give out those handicap placards to some that just can't seem to park in a regular spot.

I believe so too.

I have a buddy that's "handicapped" (parking placard, SSI, etc.) because he's epileptic.

Yet he's licensed to drive.

Ever since this one kid in Alberta had his vape battery blow up in his face I've been getting messages from all of my relatives and friends to "stay away from those dangerous things".

Meanwhile I read the article and laughed my ... off. (in a sincere manner, mind you).

Check it out. Everything about it is a vaping horror story. From the type of battery he was using, the method he was smoking with, his age, why he was smoking it in the first place and the fact his father was allowing him to smoke it.

(pictures of highly burnt face present in articles. No gore)

Alberta teen injured by exploding e-cigarette | News Talk 770 (CHQR)

Alberta e-cigarette explosion ignites regulation debate

Alberta teen injured after he says e-cigarette exploded

Notable key points:

"e cigarettes are just as dangerous as smoking" - father

Device is wofolo phantom. Some (not) cheap Chinese brand I've never heard about (but apparently is reputable)

Kid is 16

"never smoked tobacco"

"smoked because his friends did/because it was cool"

Meanwhile his father was okay with his kid smoking it. He knew about it and the kid smoked around him. Yet the father is in an outrage and should be banned.

Wotofo is actually a well known company.
The phantom is a mechanical mod designed for advanced users only.

It wasn't the fault of the mod.
It was the fault of the user.

Send your relatives an article about a car crash and tell them to stay away from those dangerous things!!!!

Ah I wasn't aware of who they were. Even still, that was basically the spark Canada needed to blow the proverbial powder keg on vaping. If these things get regulated it's gonna be a nightmare for vape shops to get product.

They're even talking about having to start hiding everything vaping related behind black cabinets. You can't ask to look at a product before buying it. They already id you, that I'm fine with.

Actually, I can Walk fairly well, but turning the wheel is extremely difficult. If the walk is to far, I have to stop and recover for a few minutes.(1/2 way through Wally World Max) Still, for now, I refuse to take advantage of my disability and rob those with a higher need.
Would be nice if they added a few more Senior spots though :glare:

Adding onto the story about the kid from Alberta blowing his face off, the part that really bugs me about all of these stories that you see is that they skip over all the important parts. They blame the manufacturer of the Mod, but not the battery, or the misuse of the device. You never see what type of cheap re-wrap batteries they're using, or any real info. They quickly blame a manufacturer, when in reality all they did was make a metal tube, with a switch and a hole to thread an atomizer through. They didn't do anything to cause the device to blow, the batteries, and the complete misuse of the device did.

The only story I have seen about one of these exploding where they actually stated it was user error was when one kid had a device start to vent in his pocket...because he had the battery door off his mod, and had his keys in the same pocket. But yet, he still blames the fact that there was no warnings that came with the batteries when he bought them.

Its sad to see a day and age where common sense is so far gone that everybody blames somebody else for their own mistakes. I knew since I was really little, that you keep metal objects away from electrical objects. But apparently this is a hard concept, and you have to spell it out these days for everybody to understand. Especially the younger crowd here, I may only be 22 myself, but I also know safety when it comes to electricity, and it drives me nuts to see people have no regard for this and just do whatever they want, then turn around and blame the company.

It's because of people like this that there are choking hazard labels on plastic bags.

Is it safe to vape while on a hoverboard. LOL

I wont blow clouds so i can see where i am going.

Only if both the mod and hoverboard have a Nanny Label stating "You Gonna Hurt Yoself". 'Cause we all know that everyone studies those Nanny Labels and always follow all their advice. So the obvious answer is to paste a Nanny Label on everything from the air we breath to the dirt we get buried in, right?
Just sayin'

ETA Nanny Label = CYA and Political BS nothing else
Darwin makes 'em do it. Watch this!

Here in California or the DPRC, there are ridiculous warning labels everywhere.

I kid you not, the fast food joints have signs saying "contains chemicals known to the state of California that can cause cancer" on the front door.

But they also have letter grades dated by the time of last inspection on the front door of food establishments.
