Okay, I tried to capture the differing blacks in several different lighting situations. Oddly, the best one is just slightly out of focus:

L--->R they are standard satin black, stealth black mini, and the glossy "chrome" aged black mini. You can see the shine level where the light hits it (a finer highlight). When I tried this outside, I could see how truly weathered it is, but I like it anyway. :)

I might try for another picture tomorrow; today it was a bit stormy outside!

Honestly, I think that's just a satin black that's not as satin - either due to a batch difference, or due to WEAR.
I don't think they ever made a chrome-black finish with teardrops...
Not sure - just a guess!

Could be, could be. I was wondering about the teardrops myself. It does not show in the photos of course (curse trying to photograph different blacks!) but it IS very glossy. There is a huge tactile difference as well. The only reason I wondered at all about it is that when I tried an extra black satin extension cap on it (before tentatively sending both for custom painting) the finishes were so totally different. I'll take a pic of that tomorrow. :)
