Hello,
I'm new to ecig. I quit smoking 3 weeks ago, so I started to use ecig 3 weeks ago. The first week I was so happy and I was using 50/50 PG/VG. After that i started to get so dry throat and it was a pain on nights even i drink a lot of water. Then I switched to %100 VG, and last week a tight chest problem has started. I have also tried %80 VG but still the same. It usually happens at night after 2-3 puffs. I was on 18mg nicotin first week, then moved to 12mg and this week I am on 9mg and I am happy but this tight chest makes me sad and scare. I went to a doctor last week, they took x-ray and breath tests everything is fine.

- Can this be VG ? Does anybody who has long experience with ecig had this problem ?
- Can this be even %20 PG causing ?

I am also started to create my own juices which are awesome but I am really scared from this tight chest. It goes away if i dont use my ecig. I have all my equipments to create any type of juice, in case if you have suggestion ? I use diamond nbase and some flavors from FA and Parfumers etc... I use itaste v3.0 and iclear30s at 4.4 volt as my ecig.

I was smoking 2,5 packs marlboro lights per day which makes 50 single cig. per day. I really dont wanna back to those days that i was coughing every morning so bad, sore throat etc.. I never ever cough again the day i quit smoking and i feel so healtier than ever in my life except this tight chest every night.

I will be happy if someone who had this problem and solved, help me ?

Thank you very much and sorry for my English.

It could possibly be your juice. Some people don't react well to either PG or VG or certain flavourings. Experiment. Try a few days with 100% PG and see what happens. Try different flavourings. If it totally goes away when you don't vape then there's a likely connection. It'll be trial and error until you can figure out which component is causing the irritation.

Honestly, I would suspect it could be a lingering symptom of quitting cigs. Especially when you smoked as much as you did per day. Some people are mildly allergic to PG but I honestly haven't heard of anyone being allergic to VG. It's also very probable you could chalk it up to placebo effect. If you're looking for something, it's easier to find it.

Many folks get a tight/heavy chest feeling from high % VG juices.
For me taking a few vapes of anything over 60% vg makes my chest feel like an elephant is standing on it, a dozen or so vapes makes it difficult to breathe. Some flavorings also give me the heavy/ tight chest feeling.

I do not buy juice from any place that won't disclose and/or allow me to chose pg/vg ratios.

If I take large lung hits, I get that symptom as well. It feels like I am drowning with pressure on the chest and its hard to breathe. I think it may have something to do with filling my lungs with thick liquid mist? Also, I had this more when I was in my first week or two of vaping. Really sore throat, chest sensitivity to that heavy, breathless feeling etc. Its all nearly gone now. The body adjusted. Also, I wasn't a smoker, I was a chewing tobacco user. So don't think these symptoms are only because you smoked.

Yeah, it goes totally when i dont vape. It takes 30-45 minutes, like someone is squeezing my chest or like 5 kg stone on my chest, most on lower side of my chest and goes away if i dont vape. I believe I cannot vape %100 PG, I was having bad time with %50 PG mix, very dry throat, pain in my left kidney(can be coincidence as i drop sand from my kidney time to time.). However, most nights i couldnt sleep well with %50 PG because of dehydration even i drink lots of water 2 LT per day. But I can try %40PG and %60VG is it good to test ?

I do apologize, I couldnt understand the meaning of "chalk it up to placebo effect". ? Could you please explain ? Please forgive my English. Yeah it could be quit symptom but it only happens at nights and it goes away if i stop vaping and it takes 30-45 minutes to go, but giving me really hard time. I'm %100 sure it is not related to psychology. However, I also suspect acid reflux, but i do not have it, as i dont have other symtoms such as burning stomach etc.. I have also other theory, can e-juice make acid reflux if its PH level is not good ? because i vape it so deep, i believe it goes to my diaphragm lol

This is exactly %100 what I'm having and started last week I vaped bobas 3 days, then my own juices that are %100 or %80 VG usually. Are you fine with %40PG / %60VG ? What flavors do you get chest issues ? Thanks. Dont you have any concern that PG is not good for health, you know rumors or people talk like that ?

Yeah can be thick mist, I thought the same as VG is so thick. About symtoms, thanks for that friend, nice advise and proof.

SInce you still experience the problem with 100% Vg, I think that is most likely the problem.

You said that at 50/50 you did not have that problem but your throat was dry. A sore dry throat is a pretty normal reaction to PG.
Maybe you can go back to 50/50 and find another solution to the dry throat. Water sometimes can flush out needed nutrients, making one still feel dry.
Try a sports drink like Gatoraid. (Not sure what they call it in your country)
Also in America we have a product called Biotene. It is to help prevent or allieve dry mouth. You probably have something like that there. It is sold with other dental items like mouth wash and toothpaste.

Go see your doctor before you drop dead ! What the hell are you doing a bunch of typed words what to do ? Go , now .

Thanks for the warning. In my first message above, I noticed it, I already went to a doctor last week, a chest x-ray has been taken and breath tests are done, also heart tests are done, all are fine.

I had several bad experiences when I first started vaping. It would start off with chest pain, then I would actually come down with what seemed like a terrible cold which after I stopped vaping would quickly go after a coulpe of days. I experimented with pure pg, which after a few vapes I would get a massive head ache that would last a couple of hours. So I decided to try VG max eliquid, which is where the base of the liquid is vg, the base of the nicotine is vg, and the only pg is from the flavoring. This works out to about 8% pg unless you get a double shot of flavor, which would make it about 16% I suppose (it depends on how much flavor when the flavor is in a pg base). My symptoms pretty much dissapeared. But I have since gone totally pg-free. There are several eliquid companies that have pg-free options, but most of them use ethyl alcohol as the flavoring base. For me, alcohol based flavors are disgusting and unvapable. There are only a few suppliers of pg-free and alcohol-free eliquids. Virgin Vapers in California is probably the most well known, who offers alcohol based and alcohol-free but they are pricey. Tetra Vape, also in California is unfortunately discontinuing all but a couple of their pg-alcohol-free flavors, so they have some good stuff on clearance. But the new winner for me is Open Source Vapors in Indiana. Check them out, they are totally transparent about what's in their eliquid, and that is rare for an eliquid company. Good luck, I hope you find what works for you.

BARFREFRE, I wish I live in US, so I could try the companies you advise to fail-test. However, forget e-liquid, ecig is forbidden in my country and we are barely finding stuff by hard ways. Yes they can send international cargo etc, it will be blocked in my country custom the moment they see "electronic cigarette" word in the package or on the eliquid bottle. As some people in my country earns billions of money from anolog cig, thats why they ban ecig in Turkey. Do you know the worst part ? They make tv advertisements and make prof doctors to talk, they said "ecig makes cancer", they said "ecig can cause serious ilness" they said " ecig is more dangerous than analog cig". See, money makes people to play with human health, so sad. What a pathetic country isnt it. I am very happy that i know English, so I learned all about ecig. But if you ask someone in my country about ecig, they will say ohh stay away bla bla, that is called unfortunately "ignorant".

Whatever, I will try %50 - %50 to see, but yeah it could be even %20 PG that I use now and I usually add %10, %15 flavor to all my own made liquids, so this makes the PG a lot more. But as friend said, I didnt have problem on the first week with %50 PG/VG, I will try this even it burns my throat, I have to make the test to sure.

That is horrible to hear about the anti-ecig propaganda and the pro analogue. Can you get in trouble for vaping in public? I hope you figure out what you need, just keep trying. The companies I mentioned do offer international shipping but I don't know if anything on the packaging will alert customs to it. You could contact them to find out. Good luck React.

I would also suspect your flavorings. Are they food grade? What flavors? Some may not be toxic but can still give you the chest issues you are having. I loved loved loved hot cinnamon flavoring and it was the supposedly safe flavoring but it irritated my lungs and gave me a tight chest, wheeze basicly felt like a prolonged mild asthma attack and almost always at night. I have a few other flavors that do it to a much lesser degree such as citrus flavors but I like them and its minor.

I would switch flavorings and make sure they are okay to vape perhaps in the diy juice forum.

Good luck, best wishes,

I just tried one of my old %50 PG/VG which is different flavors than i use now and it burned my throat at 4.0 volt, i reduced the volt to 3.7, now i dont have vapour as i want. However, so far i didnt get tight chest, of course i need to test this at least 24 hours.

About flavors I use;
FA - Irish Cream %6
Perfumer's Apprentice - Tobacco Blend %6

I mix the above, I used %12 in 30ml, %6 each. However, I also tried %18 flavor before. Looks like i use so much ? How much flavor should i use in 10ml bottle and 30ml bottles ?

Topwater Elvis, thanks for the info. You said you avoid from cream, it can be FA irish cream i use yes. It might be allergy also. Well, I really love it but I am going to make only "Tobacco Blend" for 10ml.

Any % suggestion for this Perfumer's Apprentice - Tobacco Blend in 10ml ?
