I'm calling for all members who have been smoke-free for 12 or more months and still use e-cigarettes regularly!

Please PM me if you'd be willing to donate some time and a trip to your doctor.

We need to get the word out and this may be how you can help!!

I am NOT trying to show that people have improved health by using e-cigs - that could too easily be attributed to quitting smoking.

What I am trying to show is that, after 12 months of vaping, there are no signs of illness or distress attributable to the use of the e-cigs.

So, I don't need any "before" xrays, although, they'd be great if you have them.

Please read more below, as this is discussed further in the this thread.

If anyone knows long term vapers, it'd be great if you could contact them. I know we have the veteran section. Maybe if Smokey or another mod can check the database for members over a year and send an email announcement.

Darn, looks like my plan may get nipped in the bud because no one can hear me. :(

(Thanks TV, hubby is doing much better with the snus. He doesn't even need as high a nicotine mg now.)

My idea is to put together a white paper on e-cigs and include the written test results from people's physicians. It could be offered by CASAA or Vapers International or even both. The more names on it the better.

As I've mentioned in PMs, this obviously won't affect the FDA approval, but it could have a huge impact on public opinion. If we have people who have been smoke free and have a clean bill of health (in specified tests, such as lung xray, blood pressure, nose & throat) after a year or more of use, it'd be very hard for our opposition to argue that they are unsafe to users and bystanders. It would be a compelling argument in pro e-cig articles and in arguments with legislators trying to include them in smoking bans.

I did a bunch of research last night and I have seen doctor's reports on their patient's reactions to drugs used as references in numerous research papers. We have anecdotal evidence in vaper's stories, but nothing in writing.

Obviously, this is just a new idea and I was posting here and at another forum to see if anyone actually even fit the criteria (I don't yet!) If we have enough people willing to donate some time and the cost of a checkup/xray, it could make a very convincing and compelling argument for e-cigs!!

But, maybe I'm way off. I don't know - at this time I feel like we need to do SOMETHING - ANYTHING!! And unless we have official looking and sounding "proof" that e-cigs are ok, every other argument we make falls on deaf ears.

I don't know. If I had seen a verified report from 50 or 60 doctors, that their patients had no adverse affect, from exposure to e-cigs for over a year AND they quit smoking in the process, it'd be hard to believe other arguments that they are unsafe or unproven, wouldn't you?

Second (Hope this is allowed but their incredible xrays of Lungs pack and half smoker and then one after 3 years of vaping) Located here:How has Vaping helped you? - nu-vapor

I did a search for you as a Member (didn't find you) but might be a place to check out for help on this search.
That's a great thread! That is exactly what I'm looking for, but would like to have people go to their doctor and get specific tests done for the paper. Having xrays and written reports from doctors takes it from "anecdotal" and closer to "proof."

Those XRays are incredible!!!

Will you be posting there? I would think anyone with that success- would more then be happy to help.

I will keep my eyes open and I am happy that I posted it now. I've only been smoke free for just over 2 weeks.

I have bookmark this thread, to offer it a bump every now and again.

YOUR AWESOME KRISTEN!! Loved your article too.

Wait a minute...if this person has been vaping 3 years, that would be within the time frame for e-cigs to be grandfathered in as an "old" product! Isn't it something like those products available prior to February 2007? Or am I doing some wishful thinking here?

Edit: Of course this is assuming e-cigs as tobacco products...

From my understanding, they've been on the market worldwide for over 5 years. Maybe it's only 2 in the U.S. - I don't know for certain.
