To much Mod..

I personally use and enjoy the Smok Alien. I know.....booooo hiiiiissssssssss. Lol. Any who. Gf wants a better mod, it seems like she cant adjust it to get the kind of throat hit she wants.

She is vaping at 20 watts, much higher, and its "to hot". As well she is smoking strait to lung. She is vaping 6. Any more nic content, gives her a headache. She just cant seem to get that throat hit/warm smoke she can get out of a cig.

I put 6 in mine, and turned it way down to 12 watts, again to much. Any ideas or imput would be appreciated.

Mine is the smok alien al85, and I use the baby beast tank, I vape at around 34 give or take.

Naw the alien is great if you got one that works. As for low nic high throat hit, a high PG juice will help. Some flavors are created to produce high throat hit too

The throat hit is a function of the tank, coil, and juice. I assume she is isn't the baby beast tank that came with it. If the Smok coils aren't working out well for her I would look for a different tank. As I don't use a factory coil tank that often I hesitate at offering a recommendation. I would consider something like a tobeco super tank as it takes all Atlantis style could which means lots of coil choices for her to find the one best for her. I'm sure you'll get lots of other suggestions.

I would also look for a juice with a higher PG concentration as that will provide more of a throat hit.

Yes, it's probably the tank or the juice, when it comes to delivering power, as long as a mod is functioning okay, many of the changes your wife may need would include different resistance coils and possibly another juice. I'd focus on those two things to help her get where she needs to be. She may do better with a smaller, higher resistance tank that she can run at lower wattages. I don't like a "hot" vape myself, and she won't get satisfaction if she isn't enjoying the vape.

You say she is vaping direct lung, but is that how she smoked? You didn't mention what tank she was using, but maybe try closing the air flow a bit and having her MTL. See if that help with TH.

Since you don't mention what tank, IF she is using the Baby Beast that came with the kit, I'm struggling with anything over 20 watts being "to hot." I put mine at 20 watts and get absolutely nothing. In the absence of all pertinent information, I am at a loss. Fill in the blanks (tank, coil, juice, PG/VG, batteries, anything else) and we can go from there.

Although I generally agree with what has already been said, I'm going to go in a different direction.

You say that she vapes direct to lung, but it sounds like she should be mouth to lung vaping by her symptoms. Vaping often requires a different inhale technique than smoking.

If she could convert to a mouth to lung draw, the vapor would have time to "cool off" in her mouth prior to her then inhaling into her lungs. Heck, with vaping, you don't even have to inhale the vapor into the lungs to absorb the nicotine as it can be absorbed in the mucous membranes of the mouth.

Have her take short, gentle draws into her mouth. She can either inhale that into her lung, gradually increasing the volume over time as she adjusts to vaping, or exhale from her mouth without inhaling into her lungs (she'll still get the nicotine benefits of vaping).





I would also suggest that she try a mouth-to-lung type tank like the Aspire Nautilus. It uses higher ohm coils and requires less power (around 10 - 20 watts) than the Baby Beast. It has a tighter draw much like a cigarette has.

"Throat hit" is a product of primarily the nicotine concentration of e-liquid, and secondarily the Pg in the Pg/Vg ratio.



By the way, since the above video was made, both the standard size and mini Nautilus use the same bottom vertical coil (BVC).

One other "tip", using a longer drip tip can help cool the vape a bit, as would using a tank with a longer/taller "chimney".
