I'll contribute to bumping as well dixie [emoji4]

The other day I made three recipes with my diluted version of rustica. One with a cherry cigar, a vanilla pipe and a cuban TA. Didn't have time for the crockpot steep that day so I will do that today [emoji4]

Sounds good. What cherry and vanilla are you using?

All three were the Inawera ones. The Cuban is a TA. And I added a touch of Samara Rustica to all three.

I have Inawera Cherry and Cherries. I like them both but I like them mixed better than either one alone. I've been trying to think of something to rescue some Inawera Western Blend I have so I think I'll try some cherry and Rustica and see what that does for it. I feel a little mixing session coming on for this evening lol. :vapor:

I haven't tried them yet. Still steeping but they really smell good. It was cherry cigar and vanilla pipe that I used. The third was a cuban TA. I did a crockpot steep yesterday on them so I will break into them soon [emoji3]

........ It was cherry cigar and vanilla pipe .........

Ah, of course. Vanilla for pipe is one of my favorites. I'm not sure why I took your original statement the wrong way. I thought you were mixing cherry plus cigar plus Rustica etc lol. Old age I guess. :vapor:

LOL It may have been the way I worded it as well JD1;) I understand about old age and old eyes. LOL

I may just fill up one of my squonkers with one of these in just a bit to give a try. Looking forward to seeing what the rustica brings to the picture. I have low setting, crockpot steeped it all so I'm hoping it's ready. If, not will let them sit awhile longer.

Loaded a Woodvil with the Rustica/Vanilla pipe and really liking it:) Using a Derringer with dual twisted coils at .50 ohms. The Rustica really shines with the vanilla pipe in the background. I can tell that it will even get better with time. This is a keeper!

I wound up mixing Rustica, Ina Western Blend, and Ina Cherries. The Western has a little sour note, I think from cranberry, that jars my sweet tooth a little when I try it stand a lone. I tried a little fresh mixed and I think the Rustica and Cherries is going to work great with this for a good change of pace vape. I've got about 6 ml steeping so time will tell.

Dixie, I diluted mine down to 10%. I used 50/50 pga/pg. And steeped. I use about 2% of this mix in my recipes but I like my flavors on the strong side. I used it with other tobacco flavors and not stand alone. Hope this helps.

This cherry talk sparked an idea. I have TPA cherry blossom. Since the honeysuckle played well with Rustica, why not? Made a tiny sample (3ml) adding one drop CB. On shake & vape this shows promise.

The honeysuckle recipe update: reduced honeysuckle to 3 drops/10ml Rustica. Much better.

Have a brand or site you would recommend? I have some from ECX that I've had no luck with. It's pre-dilluted 50%, but no matter if i use it as is, or dilute it further, I get no flavor, not even a bad flavor.
I have had the same experience with the Tobacco Absolute from ECX....no flavor. So, I decided to get some undiluted TA and make my own. I ordered a small sample from Eden Botanicals to try out before I invested a lot of money into it. It is from Bulgarian Tobacco. Anyway it got damaged in the mail so I emailed Eden Botanicals and they are sending me the 1/16th size (the next larger size) for free to make up for the hassle! Hopefully their TA is as great as their customer service!

Well, another bump and yet another TA novice summarizing the process lol.

I received the Rustica and did exactly as follows, just as instructed in this thread at least as I understood it:

1. Warm the Rustica in a shallow pan of very hot water (like 200 F) -- it does melt into a liquid
2. Add it to your mixing bottle and mix at 10% Rustica, 45% PGA, 45% PG
3. Warm the resulting mixture in the shallow pan of very hot water
4. Shake, reheat, shake, reheat, etc. A few cycles of this seem to do the job.

The Rustica does mix in and the result is a black looking mixture (the "black mix") that must really be a very, very dark green because the residue on the sides of the bottle is green. The resulting mix has a very pleasant almost floral, sweet tobacco smell.

As another interesting result, the syringe used to measure the Rustica is now labeled as dedicated for TA -- it will never come completely clean no matter what I rinse it with lol.

Next to taste it. I plan to start by adding it to a VZ "tobacco" juice I mix at 3% of the flavoring. I assume I start with 0.5 % of the "black mix" and go from there? The VZ tobacco is an extremely light tobacco flavor, almost hard to taste because it is such a light flavor. I am hoping the TA will really punch it up and also allow me to taste what the TA adds.

That's probably a good place to start and may be spot on for you, depending on how strong you like your 'baccy, and you can always add a little more. I usually use it at 1 to 2 percent (of the 10% solution) when adding to other tobacco's but I like it fairly stout. Looking forward to your review. :vapor:

Sounds like you got a good handle on it MS[emoji4] And I did the same with the syringe. LOL I use my mix at 2% but like JD, I'm a flavor junkie. I mix mine with other tobaccos as well. So far I have three mixes. A vanilla pipe, cherry cigar and a cuban TA that came out nicely. Have a little time today and may do a couple of others. Have a of couple more TAs that I want to try with the rustica and may also do a peachy one. Been wanting a nice peachy tobacco but haven't really gotten one that hits the spot yet.

Good advice, thanks. The shake and vape result at 0.5 was good but too light so upped to 1% and tastes to me as a very tasty added raisin / grassy note with maybe a really slight hint of wood (oak ? / cedar?). I left it at 1% for now to see where this batch ends up. I plan to taste again at 1 week and then 2 weeks. I can't ever hold off for more than 2 weeks lol. May up to 2% at that point and try stouter. I could definitely see this taste even as a stand alone for me - it is definitely that good even without steeping. It looks like road tar in its raw form but certainly tastes good once mixed lol.

Agreed, like you and JD1, I can definitely see going 2% with this for solid flavor. It's very different than I expected -- much better. Many artificial flavors seem to start tasting really bad as the % ramps up but this natural flavor doesn't seem to be like that at all. Just gets more of the same good flavor.
