No dung ? That sounds alright to me then , not that i would have a problem with a dung flavor but it doesn't sound very appealing thats all, some dung might be OK , depends what the dung came from i suppose.

If you translate dung to well tanned leather it's more palatable lol. Similar or maybe idetical smell / taste.

What is so funny about this is it was another reason I was and am hesitant to try the Rustica.

If you get the sample size, even with shipping it's inexpensive for how much it makes so it's worth trying (I think the sample size is more than half a ml). Given your hesitancy I guarantee you will be surprised. The other guys here can give you a much better description of its taste but it's sweet and smooth -- I bet nothing like what you're imagining. When I first tasted it I was very surprised -- a substance that looks like road tar mixes up into something that tastes like tobacco dessert. Mmmmmmmm. The details, yeah, grassy, raisiny and sweet, but until you actually taste it, it's hard to describe. If you like grassy sweet tobaccos or want to add a grassy note, this is for you.

It is actually very good. I think the dung comments here were all in jest [emoji6]

I get a sweet, slightly grassy, earthy tone. I use it in recipes with other tobaccos and flavors and it has become one of my favorites. It mellows with steeping as well and needs about a month. And as mad scientist stated, it's really hard to describe.

It is certainly worth a try and as someone mentioned, you can start with a sample.

While my taste is much different, I would also highly recommend any tobacco lover give it a try. Except for one concentrate long ago discontinued, this is the only one I can use as a stand alone. No weird chemical notes, no solvent taste. I have tried too many to the point of frustration. I can honestly say this could be my only tobacco flavoring and I would be happy. Its honest.

If dung = leather it all makes sense. The leather note is not overpowering. The balance is spot on and I suppose we should expect nothing less since this is from the leaf, no weird (to me) enhancements.

Maybe I am misinturpeting dung. If dung is meant to mean earthy then yes maybe a little but I like earthy. I've never herd earthy refered to as dung though. Dung kinda puts a negative spin on the flavor.

For those that are confused when they are speaking of dung and earthy thats not meant to mean cow manure taste it's kinda like the smell of pulling a plant from the earth, like the smell of a freshly plowed meadow after a spring shower. Can kinda even be referred to as a sweet woodsy or maybe even hay like.

If the flavor was described as a compost type taste then I'd start to worry:)

This is getting amusing. In Cubano's, the dung aroma is highly prized in a newly opened box of cigars. It's a sure sign that the box should age well. In essences, the nastier and more like a well used stall in a barn the aroma of the unlit cigar the better. It never translates directly into a dung flavor though. So for me, (I still haven't had time to mix mine up yet) I hope it smells like a steaming fresh pile of.....

Thanks , good explanation , not familiar with a freshly plowed meadow after a spring shower but it sounds yummy , just not a huge fan of the compost type waste flavoring.

Aha, why didn't I think of that. Dixie that's the answer for you if you do decide to try it. As much as you have to dilute down, that half an ml will make a lot of flavoring.

Speaking of samples, I'm thinking about trying a sample size of of their Clove Bud absolute when I reorder. CLOVE BUD ABSOLUTE: Samara Botane Aromatic Apothecary

It probably has oils, so I'm sure most would want to pass, but I'm thinking a tiny amount of it in a mix shouldn't be too bad.

Prior to finding this thread, I decided to give my Nude Nicotine TA one more chance. On their website it says to mix at .5 - 2%. I mixed mine at 1%, UC steeped for a few hours and tried it. Whoa Nellie!!! I wondered how anyone could vape this stuff, or, why they liked it. I decided that it must need to steep for a VERY long time so I put it in the cupboard.

After reading here how to correctly dilute it, I tried it again at 10% of the 1% that I had made. Much better but it has a very pronounced grassy/hay taste that I don't care for. I mixed it (about 50/50) with some INA Gold Ducat that I had made (at 3%) and it's not bad. The NN knocked down some of the chemical taste of the Gold and the Gold knocked down some of the grassy taste of the NN. I'll keep what I have made as mixer but won't make it again. Well...........maybe not. Depends on how I like it as an additive in other stuff.

I also, as a result of reading this thread, had ordered and mixed the Rustica at 1% of a 10% solution. This stuff is EXCELLENT!!!!

Thank you Exchanger for starting this thread, Danny for the link to Samara (and many other things), and everyone who has contributed.

VZ Snuff Box is pure unadulterated dung (or leather -- however to best describe). I can't vape it as a standalone but it's a cured tobacco flavor and can add something to some mixes (in very very small amount). If anyone wants to try some to taste what the "dung" in tobacco is, I have like 9.7 ml left of it (of a 10 ml bottle lol).

Hi Rick119 if you like a bit of sweet in a tobacco then NN Honey Tobacco - which is made with a TA may be a good try I love it at .5% and could probably go down to .25%. :p I also mix it with .1% Flavourart Cuban Supreme when I want to cut the sweetness a bit. They are my 2 All Day Vapes so far. :vapor:

Hi Dixie. When I first started DIY I purchased both the regular and honey TA from NN. I only tried the honey at that time (at 1%), decided that I hated it and tossed it. I don't know how many times I've thrown something out only to later find a use for it, or to realize that I wasn't using it properly to begin with. I'm sure that at a lower % it would have been much better. However, I do recall that it also had a grassy taste so I probably won't try it again. Thanks though.

To me, the Rustica is slightly sweet, mellow, and very good, without any of the grassy taste.

I've been vaping the Rustica at .1% (1% of the 10% mix) for a few days now and loving it. Just out of curiosity, I decided to bump it up a little. Thought I'd add one drop (10% mix) into my tank. Well..............I didn't realize how thin this PG/PGA mix was and added 2 drops. I'm sitting here chain vaping it as I'm typing. This stuff is GOOD!!!! :thumb: (Keep in mind that this is with a relatively short UC steep time.)

With the added strength, I can now see how some people would describe it as having a slight grassy taste. However, It's a completely different taste from the NN. If this is grassy then the NN is dried hay like (to my taste buds). This is more like adding a small amount of fresh parsley to a recipe. Not the same taste but the same idea. Just a little extra something that adds to the overall flavor.

September is too long to wait. PM me your address (or a business address) and I'll buy you a bottle. Call it PIF.
