:) I'll try!!

Still fancy trying WTA juice though....do they sell it in the UK?

Almost non-existent now in all honesty.

Did you say how many you smoked? (I'll go and re-read...)

OK - so 15 a day. That's what I was smoking (1.0mg cigarettes)

18mg liquid is in the right area for you, I'd say.

Does your kit have a name? (I'll go and re-read).

Is it an eGo model? It's not a cig-a-like is it? :)

Hi....

I`ve been vaping for 4 days now, quit the analogs cold turkey after 20 years of 15 a day!

So far, so good..... I haven`t even thought about a real ...!

My only problem is this....I am a lifelong anxiety sufferer!! I`ve been reading all the posts about MAOI withdrawal etc and am worried that I`m going to slip back into a depression, or start getting really anxious again!

I must admit, I do feel ever so slightly edgy, but don`t know if this is me worrying about worrying (if that makes sense) - or if it is indeed tobacco withdrawal!

What symptoms can I expect, and when do they tend to appear? Thanks

Live life today, yesterday is gone and tomorrow is never here.

Just relax and take it a step at a time and handle things as they come..If you start worrying about what might come you will start to carry a double load..

If you're hitting your vape and it's doing it's job for you, then that's where you want to be..

myself i never had any withdrawls or cravings for a cigaret again..vaping was better than smoking.. that's all it took for me..
it may be all it takes for you..
each person is different..
start noticing the good things you are feeling like maybe feeling more energy or breathing a little better..
stick to positive things happening and motivate yourself to be excited about becoming healthier..
relax and enjoy the deep breaths
:)

I was a heavy smoker, 35-40 a day. Started vaping slowly 24mg/ml, after a few months my analogs didn't taste well and I stopped smoking completely five months ago. I'm down to 12mg/ml but I vape a lot! About a thousand puffs per day at least. But I didn't get a withdrawal problem at all. I've been in a good period menthally, I suffer greatly from depression, psychosis and anxiety, but haven't had any trouble quitting my analogs. I've become a gadgeteer in vaping equipment though, and gotten a new hobby!
Best of luck to you! Not everybody get problems quitting! :)

P.S. I just checked out the online catalogue of flavour vapour. Please don't buy anything else from there. It's painfully over-priced.

(most of it is 100% more expensive than Myepack... which will soon mount up in time....)

Having checked other sites, I agree....it`s very expensive!

I was passing the shop and I just thought "Right....I`m giving up smoking" and bought a 37.99 starter pack with 2 flavours.

Can anybody point me in the direction of a decent setup, which is cheap and easy to obtain spares etc.

Thanks

And back to the point of the thread......

I think I will blog my daily feelings on here

Day 1 - Easy - No cravings for real cigs whatsoever - felt like I had a new toy!!

Day 2 - Had my iclear next to me in bed!! Didn`t have to rush downstairs for my morning fix.....infact, I actually feel that I had a restful sleep for once! As the day wore on, I felt slightly giddy....but it didn`t worry me (until I started searching forums!!) lol - Didn`t manage to get to sleep until 5am!!

Day 3 - Started wondering why it was so easy! Surely I was going to get some sort of withdrawal symptoms.......began looking into MAOI withdrawal on ecig forums! Suddenly felt a bit "high" and jittery....typical of how my anxiety bouts start.
Still all good on the iclear though....love the vaping......no cravings

Day 4 - Again, it was tough to sleep last night - but woke up to the strong smell of bacon butties!!! It was strange......Usually, I`d struggle to smell if the house was on fire.....but this smell was amazing - it took me back to being a youngster when my Mum would be making us bacon butties for brekkie!! - So I guess my sense of smell is returning a bit (butty was crap though - the missus is an awful cook haha)

As the day wore on, I got more and more anxious to the brink of derealization.....I sort of went into a haze, the sunlight seemed too bright, I was having mild palpatations and felt jittery and agitated - so decided to start this topic......

Felt rough until about 7pm - but have been fine since (coincidentally, I have been preoccupied and not worrying lol)

Vaping 8-10 hits every hour or so..... feel fine now, let`s hope I can sleep tonight

HERRO!! =]Another thing that seems to help me, is a supplement called 5-HTP. Do some research and see if that might work for you. I'm not sure it is available in the UK, but at the drugstore where I work, we have about five or six different brands.

From WEBMD:

Don’t use 5-HTP until more is known. 5-HTP might be UNSAFE. Some people who have taken it have come down with eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome (EMS), a serious condition involving extreme muscle tenderness (myalgia) and blood abnormalities (eosinophilia). Some people think the EMS might be caused by an accidental ingredient (contaminant) in some 5-HTP products. But there is not enough scientific evidence to know if EMS is caused by 5-HTP, a contaminant, or some other factor. Until more is known, avoid taking 5-HTP.

Hey Peter, congrats on your progress so far! I too suffer from severe anxiety and depression issues. When I first switched to vaping, I did feel a bit on edge, but it was nothing too severe. As time has gone on I have actually noticed that quitting smoking has helped tremendously with my depression. I feel better about myself, and I think successfully quitting analogs has a lot to do with it. Keep going sting and you will notice so many positives. Good luck!

When you feel "off", mentally or physically, just stop and thing about all the thousands of chemicals your body is getting rid of .
It takes a couple of months for it to pretty much cleanse it's self, and it's a "physical" reaction.
Make sure you don't blame every little symptom on it being mental, or vice-versa
Give the body a chance and time to work it all out.
Just being busy made you forget all about it, so there's your clue .. go with it, and keep busy.
It's just all new right now for you, and your body.
Count all the positives, like the taste buds waking up, being able to run up those stairs without gasping for air, and the nose working again, sometimes not so good , teeth cleaner, inside windshield doesn't have an oily film anymore, and you yourself smell so much better.
Everyday it get's better, relax, and enjoy the ride.

Day 5 (morning)

Not long woken up......had a really good kip!

I felt very "flat" upon waking and quite moody.....The kids n missus have gone out for the day..... "This is my chance" I thought
I just picked up one of my girlfriends cigarettes because I desperately wanted that morning nicotine "buzz" or "rush" that I don`t get off my vaping....... I stood at the cooker for TEN minutes waiting to light it, umming and aahing, "shall I", "shan`t I".......then thought "NO, I`ve NEVER been this long without a cigarette before.....I can do this!" - and swiftly put it back in its box!

Instead, I grabbed my vaper, my cup of tea and my hoodie......and went to sit in my "smoking spot" out the back and vaped like mad!!!
(that was an hour ago) - Anyway.....seemed to do the trick!!!

I think I`m reading faaaaar too much into this MAO withdrawal thing, and its worrying me....i`m sort of MAKING myself feel the symptoms!! The worst thing is, is that it`s constantly on my mind, and reading posts that tell me the lack of harmane (the MAO responsible) will not give you withdrawals until day 10ish........I really am afraid of slipping back into a funk after battling so hard to get back to "normal" over the last 3 years!!

Have I quit too suddenly? Shall I start smoking again along with my vaper and wean myself off them slowly??

Aaaaarrrgghh!!!! I don`t know what to doooooooo

Peter, my point exactly. I experienced the same thing you did. I never prepared to quit smoking when i started vaping (3weeks ago), i actually still do, like 1/day. I hate to ask you to try just 1 smoke, but just incase if you do, you'll notice the cigarette we all seem to love before, suddenly taste like dog poo now. That is why im only down to 1 or 3 ...max 4.

I also experience jittery and abit of hyper sensitivity. I thought it was the sugar rush from the liquid i vape, or even too much nic....whatever it is, i just more than grateful my analog consumption is down from a pack a day to just 1

Take it at whatever speed suits you. I smoked on and off for the first month or so, but that was with basic equipment.

if you can go without (smoking), go without....

The first cigarette of the day was the last one to go. It took a leap of faith to do it. (and some good liquid too).

P.S. I'm glad to looked into my post about pricing.

Myepack are usually the cheapest for basic batteries and clearomisers. (some mods too)

Vape Escape are possibly the "best" vaping online shop overall (there are some forum discounts). Cloud 9 is awesome, but is often high end kit.

LT e-cigs is the best value for simple liquids (like "lemon" or blackcurrant menthol" or "tobacco"...)

- - -

I don't know if my posts are helpful (or even relevant) but if you "like" some of them, it'll mean I'll get a notification, which is helpful on such a huge forum. :)

UKecigcabin NOT store, is also a nice vendor.

Welcome to the forum !! Congrats on the switch, I suffer from anxiety also but if you get your nic level right it should be an easy switch

Yeah....I`m not getting ANY nicotine cravings whatsoever (I`m on 18mg blueberry juice)

That part is easy.....it`s the fear of this anxiety and getting depressed that`s bothering me so much........especially as I`ve literally only just started to feel myself again after 3 years battling this mind numbing depression and anxiety!

Maybe I`m thinking too much about it.... I`ll just keep with it for now and see how I go.

I think this forum will be a massive help though, and it`s great to know there are others in similar situations - hopefully we can all help each other through it and come out the other end feeling better than ever!

Some quit cold turkey around here, but I'd say the vast majority wean themselves over time. When I started vaping I kept my after meals and with coffee cigarettes for an extended period and then one day I just didn't buy another pack. There were no withdrawal symptoms that way. If you need to wean off the MAOI component, you may be one who needs to allow yourself several cigarettes a day, spaced out over time.

Do that for two or three months, adjust to the new levels, and then quit. Doing that made it easy for me.

I switched gradually from smoking to vaping due to my anxious personality.

If you have a cig, don't beat yourself up. It's okay to be thinking about cigs since your brain is used to smoking. Vaping really can work for you. In fact, it already has. You skipped the morning smoke which is unimaginable before you started vaping.

Yes, it is a big change but you are doing great!!!!!

Keep it up.
