What a foolish woman. She was Napolitano's spokeswoman. This was in the Plugged In editorial section today.

E-cigarettes another way to make a bad habit sexy

E-cigarettes? Are you kidding me? These electronic “cigarettes” deliver nicotine via water vapor and are touted as the “smart choice” for smokers. Also available for purchase is the “smoke everywhere” car charger and a “stylish” case that is like “like carrying two to five packs with you in much less space.” Just when the federal government has succeeded in outlawing flavored cigarettes that attract children, industry has found another way to make smoking more accessible. Manufacturers claim it's healthier. How about this alternative? Let's invest in re-establishing physical-education classes at school. That's healthy, probably cheaper, and offers respect to young people rather than simply making it easier for them to adopt yet another dangerous habit.

Try again Gary! We should all post there, just in hopes that the paper pays attention.

On other news... I've just copied lots of that info. that I posted there on the R&G paper site, and sent it to Glen Beck at Fox news... asked him to look into the FDA's misleading the public with their report on e-cigs and asked Beck to forward it to who ever (if he didn't want the story). We'll see what happens. Better than sitting here all day eating bonbons and answering yet another post about someone's burned up 510 atomizer, lol.

Is it happy hour yet? Ummm, I think it is in Hellen Land!!!

Hmm. OK, my first impulse, of course, is anger and a desire to lash out at this "healthy" woman. But, being that we are all in a precarious situation with our beloved e-cigs on the line, we have to fight rationally and intelligently.

Here is what I would submit as rebuttal:

The first point of your attack, of all things, are the accessories available with e-cigs. Does it bother you that adults like to have accessories? Are you unaware of the packaging of tobacco cigarettes, with their colorful boxes and eye catching designs meant to lure you to one brand or another? How about the variety of patterns available on cigarette lighters? Are these also not within a finger's grasp at the counter of any convenience store? Are minors allowed to purchase these items?

What makes you think they would be allowed to purchase e-cigarettes? And (as stated by Kristin of our boards here) since when is it wrong for an adult to enjoy flavors? Is there some yet-to-be enforced law which requires anyone over the age of 18 to no longer enjoy fruit and candy flavoring? How does the flavor of something automatically mean it will lure children?

You speak of health. Is it healthy that we pour tons of chemicals into our children every day via "fruit flavored" items such as candy, sodas, and other junk foods loaded with sugar, preservatives and dyes? Why aren't these outlawed?

I am getting the message from you that it's OK to poison our children with food, but adults (voters and taxpayers) are not allowed to choose a less toxic way of weening themselves off tobacco products. A choice with a success rate that we cannot even begin to tally - thousands of smokers have kicked tobacco for good with more each day (myself included).

And how about the fact that FDA approved cessation methods (which I'm sure your narrow mind would wholeheartedly approve of) do more harm than good, something provable by studies and reports?

Smoking is a choice. It is an adult choice. I'm sure you have known or do know smokers. Do you like the smell? Do you avoid being around them? Let me ask you something even more important: Have you seen an e-cigarette with your own eyes? Been around a "vaper" or even asked anything about it? Your pompous article is nothing more than touting rumors and the unfortunate sheep mentality of this country.

You are entitled to your opinion. But in my book, you do some research before you start preaching about the ills or goods of anything that you don't have first hand knowledge of.

Enjoy your self-righteous "health conscious" viewpoints while I sit here quietly vaping on my Peach Cobbler e-cigarette, enjoying the feel of my body healing from years of poisoning it with tobacco.

P.S. If you are really that concerned with health issues, you may want to join a gym.

If it "oinks" like a pig no amount of lipstick is going to make any difference.

She will die before a smoker from high cholesterol and obesity. Maybe she needs to worry about her own health and quit trying to force her style of living on others. Just another example of a clueless smoke nazi using "the children" as a rallying cry to curtail our rights.
