Non-smokers who vape

I have been a VERY occasional (1-5 a year with patches of a month or two where it was several a week) cigar/cigarillo smoker for some 30+ years. Also took a fairly long run with smokeless tobacco.

Wife says I qualify as a non-smoker because no matter how much tobacco I have been using, for how long, etc. I drop it and walk away at will anytime.

I REALLY enjoy those cigarillos, especially the flavored variety. The largest reason I have avoided them is that most of them cause grief for my improperly functioning breathing hardware.

Even hitting my wife's 6-12mg/ml nicotine does not seem to bother me as much as the best of the tobacco.

Now I get many more, much more creative, etc. flavors to choose from, most often in 0 nic, lots of billowy stuff coming out my mouth/nose, etc. without the breathing issues.

This partial non-smoker vapes to enjoy more of what he enjoys and less of what he doesn't :)

Now if the postman will hurry with the replacement for the birthday present I gave to my wife when she dropped her old mod ;-P

Edit: words left out.

Just for discussion sake, as far as 'Mary', had I not fell in love with Mary, I seriously doubt I would have gone out with her other, older sisters, Alice, Cathy, Quanita (??) etc. I never would have skipped right past Mary. The overwhelming number of guys, massive numbers, do not go straight to the older sisters. I don't think anyone has ever hinter at vaping being a gateway to cigarettes?? Putting aside the argument that, it's less harmful that tobacco, most say it's still harmful, even at zero nic. I've seen vendor sites state, "We do not recommend vaping, even at zero levels if you were not a smoker." That means even for pleasure at zero nic. That makes me a little sad. Cause I've introduced it to my wife and kids, zero nic. The only real thing we know is, at zero nic it may be harmful to your wallet!

What is the substance people put in hookahs? Herbs, tobacco??
While I know people do stuff them with the wacky tabacky, I personally think it's a waste. Typically, you load them with a flavor-saturated tobacco and sit a hot coal on the top, creating a rich blend of smoke and juice vapors.

in my own world.
I actually started vaping as a result of getting my sister to quit analogs.

I wanted my sister to quit, and had been researching a lot about vaping. The more I read about it, the more I felt that I could really get into this as a hobby (it's kinda like LED flashlights which I am a huge fan of too). So when I finally bought the ego c twist for my sis, I got one for myself too. She vapes 9mg while I vape 0mg. So yea, not in it for the nicotine, but the tinkering and general science behind it.

Non-smokers pick up vaping for a number of different reasons.. reduce stress levels, reduce eating habits, because it's cool.. ;)

Some people get worried because they see e-cigs as a 'gateway' into smoking analogs. Just like weed would be a 'gateway' to harder drugs.

Providing they're vaping 0mg juice then personally, I really don't see a problem with it.

Two things.

First, I don't think a consenting adult should have to explain themselves if they decide they want to use some nicotine.

Secondly, If we agree that people don't likely get addicted to patches or nic gum, then they won't be any more likely to get addicted to vaping.

Synergistic tobacco alkaloids and other chemicals in cigarettes blah-blah-blah make them highly addictive yes... but vaping is not like simply picking up a safer cigarette, it is not like a cigarette at all. The addiction potential to *just nicotine* has never been shown.

OK three. Three Things.

Knowing the lower absorption rate of nicotine from vaping, how much harm can a little bit of it do? It's never been shown to be the harmful element of smoking.

I'm saying this in the same vein as people who decide to take up drinking hard liquor every day. No one says they are safe. Safe is not doing it at all. But adults are free to decide to have that cocktail or vape ... I'll be the last to judge.

I was a cigarette smoker. Quit about 9 months ago. Quit "Mary" about a month ago. Quit alcohol almost 2 years ago. I felt out of place for my age, and my buddy was a vaper. I decided to try it out, zero nicotine of course. It feels good to be able to feel like I am smoking again, minus the health defects and addiction. I only vape zero nicotine and if I feel like it is bothering my health I will quit.

For now, I am interested in becoming a cloud chaser! I used to chain smoke and I loved smoking! I loved lots of smoke! So naturally I love lots of vapor. I like big inhales and vapor filled exhales. It's nice.

Maybe it's just me but, when I was using nicotine juices, I felt I was only trying to fool myself. I mean I was still going for the nic. Not as bad as really doesn't hold up, ya know? Anyway, I vape zero and only have to worry about what's in this stuff now!

I personally stick with 6mg nic because it does calm me and I don't necessarily chase a nicotine buzz.

Tobacco is used in hookahs along with a coal to keep it lit. Although, there are alternatives to tobacco for your hookah like tea leaves or clean rocks (yes rocks, forget what kind) that are saturated in a flavored juice containing nicotine very similar to our e-juices. However you're still using a coal as the heating element and still combusting material and creating carcinogens which is harmful.

I wouldn't like to classify myself as a smoker b/c of the fact that I switched to vapes from pipe smoking. yes it is tobacco, but i'm not inhaling so that leads me to believe that I don't qualify. I can still appreciate a good pipe tobacco, but ever since i bought my first bottle of "berry blast" I don't think I'm ever going back. taste better, smells better, and doesn't leave a scent on my clothes plus my vamo v5 looks better than ANY pipe, IMO.

I'm a newbie and thought I'd share my experiences. I'm a non-smoker; though I tried it at about age 16 and was caught by my parents, punished and never started again. I have smoked shisha many times and had a go at pipe smoking a year or two back.

I took up vaping a couple of weeks ago for the following reasons, beginning with the most 'noble', descending:

1. I am a compulsive eater who has gained a lot of weight over the last couple of years. I have a real sweet tooth and could easily polish off a large bag of something sweet. Left to my own devices, I could et a full pack of cookies or a whole chocolate cake - not good for health or teeth.

2. I work full time and study in the evenings, languages and legal qualifications. I wanted something to sharpen my concentration when I am flagging, or when in need of a pick-me-up.

3. I have almost entirely given up drinking.

4. It gets rid of the occasional shisha craving I get

5. I like the geeky side of it with all the kit and wanted a new toy!

6. Compulsion

I bought myself a clearomiser and battery from my local market, together with a bottle of low nic juice, for £10 all together. It seems to be going well so far (though the first mistake I made was to pour the juice down the air tube - a messy and sticky mistake!)

I am not getting the big plumes that others get, but I'm not a fan of the throat hit, so prefer to go at my own pace with it. I'm keen to learn more about vaping and hope, soon that my weight will come down and i can start to feel good about myself again.

I am also a real advocate for vaping, for those who are trying to kick the analogs. My uncle, who is 65, has money problems and health problems (including a heart complaint) is one person I would love to see kick the analogs.
