I often wonder what happened with people who ask a question, get responses and then never come back. I wonder if they ever even read the responses, if they forgot they even posted a question, forgot the name of the website, forgot their log in info...

I wonder if that's why they used to have a 5 post minimum or something like that

Look at this... L&S asks a question, and can't even punctuate correctly... drives me nuts when people can't punctuate... and bad grammar... ugh... and, don't get me started on obvious misspellings...I mean, I get typos, but... wait... what was the question?

Oh, yeah... a question about questions...

No, I do not get upset unless the questioner refuses to accept said advice and gets abrasive or abusive. Then, I smile, nod, and walk away.

Oh, I fume and gnash internally for a week, but...

I do this because I was once them (not really), and help was provided to me (sorta).

What? Parentheticals? Yep...

Not really = I am a search bar wizard... if it exists, I can usually find it...

Sorta = when I first came to the forum for advice, I didn't know how to mentally filter the responses. I asked what a decent starter kit would be, and many that answered WAY overshot the mark... Sig 100 with Atlantis... Sig 150 with rda... point for enthusiasm, I guess...

Shawn and Bea dahlinks - I am one who adores obvious manglations of our dear lang-u-age. It shall kontinue, methinks, as it's what I do. Yes, my dear ones, you will find a plethora of obvious Miss Spellings, and other tidbits of grammatical incorrectness.

Begging your forgiveness. Please and thank you.

I "like" that post but.

LIKE! :)

Yeah, and the board software's search isn't all that robust...

Pet peeve!!! Back in the days of VB, mamma mia, ECF was soooooooo easy to search. Now, it's the challenge of the century.

(Hmmm... I'd have much better luck in a corn maze. I've never been in a corn maze. I sure would like to go thru a corn maze. I think I shall fine a corn maze. Perhaps in October, you know, around Halloween, one can find corn mazes. I think there are a few corn mazes at that time of year. Would I have to eat the corn while mazing? Is it bi-color? Do they provide butter and salt and napkins? Where do you put the husks? And this one time, at band camp?)

Well . . . Yes & No . . .

"My" Bad . . . I knew it was a "Stick" (since I was "gifted" one in a member contest . . . ), however as you well know by now - I'm old, so very easily forget some of the names of "Stuff" (be it an "iStick" or "XVOStick"), especially given that there are so many "nicknames" for things too . . . Just like "Egg Rolls", which "DP" did mention in his post - I just didn't put 2 & 2 together, since I do not have any and couldn't tell what they were in his picture at all . . .

SO - Although the "Egg Roll" has been mentioned and talked about very often throughout the thread, I am going to have to check them out again and possibly pick-up 1 or 2 soon . . .

YEP - And very well too - As Usual . . .

Oh and something special I found for "@Katdarling" to use when sending any of these "love notes" . . . ;)

EDIT: Had to try to fix a few grammar errors and a couple of typos too for @Shawn Hoefer . . . However, that ain't gonna happen too often . . . :pervy: .

PERFECTION, mon Uncs! Love the pics, dear one! Thank you. <wub>
Do let us know whatcha think of our little beloved Egg Roll. I think you shall be pleased.

Oh, and just for you...

Ah, but when you do it, O Kwik and Kreative Kween of Ks, it is light-hearted and fun...

And, it's a small, niggly pet peeve... I doubt you've ever seen me rant or even correct a mispelling... At least not without my tongue firmly planted in yon jowl.

You might have even noticed my fondness of ellipses. I tend to write as I would speak, and I am known for leaving trains of thought derailed... Dirigibles of consciousness burst in flames... Oh, the huge manatee...

But wait, I digress...

If I have started something or offended, then I offer my sincerest apologies.

In another life I was head editor of a peer-reviewed journal. That should tell you how I feel about butchering the language. You would be amazed at what poor grammar and spelling I saw in papers written by medical doctors, PhDs and other college graduates.

I was a columnist, production manager, graphic designer, photographer, IT guy, and married to the Managing Editor...

That was an interesting set of posts. Good morning Tp'ers

Sadly I think I learned along the way, not to get involved in newbie questions unless I clearly see some bad advice or misleading information. It is draining to answer the same questions over and over and it is a thankless task. It might be a cop out and by doing so I am leaving the task to others who might have different opinions, but I pick and choose what I will get involved in. The nicer the newbe..... the more likely I am to help. That doesn't make me a bad person...... just someone that knows where to expend my limited energy.

My expectations of common courtesy are rarely satisfied and I am pleasantly surprised when it does. I suppose I realise they are my expectations and maybe they are not based in reality.

By the way. I love that post as well.

Memes would be flying all over the place. Hannity & Maddow would both dedicate a night's show to analyzing the quote (beat it to glue!), and ALL the Sunday morning shows would feature guests who were experts on Abe's technological prowess.

""Uhhh, Bonj-or."

Boy Howdy DPL, you hit the nail on the proverbial head with that observation. Those two could beat a dead horse Back to life.

There their they're, Shawnster.

Relax. I am FAR from offended! :D In fact, I rather like the topic du jour. No apples necessary or accepted.

So there.

I'm sorry about that, honestly.

You see what kind of trouble I get into on the more technical questions where I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Imagine how bad that would be in the noobie forum?

That wouldn't help anybody.

I tend to confront B.S. head on.

And that's a serious problem in a forum full of it dedicated to helping those that might not know Eve from Adam.

Why are you sorry? Not everyone needs to welcome the noobies! Even I, someone who has only been here since last December, sometimes chuckle to myself at some of the questions I see. And I was asking those very same "dumb" questions not so long ago (sometimes still do ;))

What really fumagates my Fruit-o-lumes is when someone asks a question that was just answered 2 posts prior....... then I did that very same thing last week. I banned myself for the rest of the day (no moderator needed).
